I am trying to learn how to make my own crooked knife.
on my first attempt at making one I used an old file
I heated it up and let it cool on its own, ground the edge used a stone to get it smooth and flat then carefully I heated and bent the blade let it cool down again cleaned it some checked the edge then heat treated by heating to red hot them quickly placing into oil. but my edge seems not to hold a good sharp edge it gets dull easily. I sure could use some help on this.
