@plainoldwill more like it means that there is something incredible (the diamond), but you can't touch it or take it because its a two way deal, what you take you give back 10 times over (you take the diamond, you're rich, but you die).

It could also express a sense of a trap, like the diamond attracts peoples eye because its shiny, so you don't pay attention to the landmine, then BOOM, Game over
