  • Wicked is just such an amazing work of genius. The broadway play and the novel are very different of course, but I find that I am totally in love with them both, and that's rare. Normally if there is a book I really like that gets otherwise revamped into some other media form (TV, play, etc) I'm dissapointed or upset with it but this is the exception. Both are absolutely amazing!

  • Great video! I read "Wicked", "Son of a Witch", and "A Lion Among Men"... all great books that delve into philosophizing about human character... I even reviewed them on my channel, which is dedicated to doing daily book reviews. Thumbs up for you, Gregory Maguire!

  • EEP! his friend's sister's roommate is my dad's GF, AND HE SIGNED MY COPY OF WICKED/SON OF A WITCH!!! U ROCK GREGORY!

  • he is awesome

  • WICKED IS AWESOME!!!!! I love the book and the play!!!! Everybody I know loves one or the other but I like them both and I'm totally OBSESSED!!!!!

  • i saw the musical a couple of day ago ... im in love with Wicked =)

  • Bue, One thing is a fictional character and other an historical character such as hittler. That was an ugly slip

  • Gregory is such an interesting person

I love the character of Elphaba: I really relate to her

  • I think every one relates to her. She is truly amazing, is it just people assume things to be "Wicked" just because they are not like them?

  • I justed out your book at the library and I am so excited to read more. I just read the first couple of pages and it is fantastic. I want to go see the play in SF and I just need to read the book first. Thanks for your wonderful book!!

  • He is so freaking CLEVER

  • I am a huge book fan and an even bigger musical fan and i haven't seen and read either Wicked the novel or the musical! I love the Wicked soundtrack and the general ideas and themes from the musical. But is the book recommendable?

  • I HIGHLY recomend the book the middle of it is slightly boaring..and drags in some places but overall it's FANTASTIC

Elphaba is a brilliant character; and well it's really well wrriten.......Actually it's better then the wizzard of oz orginal book and 1939 fillm put together

  • If your talking about the City of Emeralds thats my favorite part!!!! lol

  • hes probably my favourite modern authour i really like his ideas such as the clock of the timedragon and how he portrays elphaba the wizard of oz and the emporor apostle his other books are great too

  • "I thought about Hitler!!"

    hahaaa, that cracked me uppp

    :)

  • I read that book after seeing the musical. The book is much much much sadder ,but it was better.

  • oh thank you so much! i will!

  • i don't understand wicked it's written to smart i need it dumbed down for me.

  • Just see the musical it represents it in a much clearer and straightforward form

  • the book and the musical are kind of different... actually they're really different so you can't just generalize like that -_-

  • Sorry did I upset you? lol sorry if i made you cut yourself or anything. But yeah they are slightly different but still pretty much the same. well i dont know i just love both of them.

  • Every time I watch this I get more and more amazed. Is it possible to make up a novel about Hitler? I mean making it fiction and not like a true story of his life, but imagine Wicked's plot exactly the way it is but as Hitler the main character?

  • its funny ive never heard him speak before... i cant wait for the third installment.

  • So amazing just finished reading the book of Wicked after several weeks of being amazed by the musical and listening to the soundtrack. Everything Wicked is just great. Gregory Maguire is simply fantastic.

  • This man is fantastic, how from a child hes always wondered about her water allergy. And anyone else wanna pay him to write Hitler in Oz?

  • this guy is pure genius, can't wait for his new book this fall!

I have read all of his stuff

  • i love GM's way of thinking, "Why didnt someone gave her a cup of tea and say 'you poor thing your sister just died'"

  • Gregory McGuire, you are the man!

  • wow

  • Wow this was so good thanks for adding it. Favourite book of all time, that's for sure!
