    Look at a stock lotus 4 cylinder. a 4 cylinder lotus esprit will do 170 mph because it has a stock chargecooler and a stock turbo. Look at "lotus fast and furious" on youtube

  • @JIBMotorsport I *think* there was a kit that replaced the brass 5th gear or something like that. You can pull your front drive wheel, and the remove the cover and all the workings are pretty much right there. Also, try and find a Shelby trans as I think they had 3.42 final drive or something similar.

  • @JIBMotorsport It was a sales guys personal trans that used to work at Hughes Performance (They do not work on these old FWD trans anymore). Bought it from him with 3800 stall converter. Alto clutch packs, extra friction plate, manual valve body, governors removed. LOVE this trans!

  • first off a z06 is a highway car. not a quarter mile machine. second you can work any car to be as fast as you want. lets see that 4 cyl stock against that z06. and if you put as much money into that vette as you did that peice of shit dodge or watever it was. then show me results.

  • I used to love pulling up to assholes in my 87 Lancer turbo 1 and stomping them before I sold it....Old turbo dodges might look like 20+ year old beaters but DAMN they pull hard when you get on it. 14 pounds of boost and some good tires is EASILY enough to pull on most of the 6 cylinder vehicles from the last few years.

  • To clarify why ethanol may cause knocking its because alcohol requires air fuel ratio is different for alcohol than it is for gas. So computer calibrated for gas can get thrown off slightly with the mix. Not a problem unless you're a turbo car running high boost.

  • Missing the point, that car was like, $15,995? Add $2,000, got $18,000 into a vehicle and you have a car with more launch than the, well, I know nothing on Corvette prices, but in 2000 I think the Z06 was like $66,000, and has been tuned, so, more launch than the $66,000 car and only 1 second slower, which could even been fixed in a day without spending another dime (excluding fuel), so, my point is the 20yr older car is about as fast, 0-60wise, as the car that's another $48,000 more.

  • @rokmongo Agreed. It's awesome pulling up to people in their "muscle cars" and "rice burners" and just stomping the shit out of them when they think they can take out the ol' turbo dodge. Might look like a two tone, decrepit, rust box...until all you see is taillights and my straight pipe. Still pissed I sold mine...but I like my bike =P

  • Oh, and low octane fuels are more prone to have ethanol added, whereas higher octane fuels are generally pure gasoline.

  • Umm, running a lower octane gas doesn't have you go lean. Not enough fuel does.

    Higher octane gas takes more energy to ignite meaning you need a stronger ignition system and meaning that said fuel is less prone to detonation (premature ignition) because it needs the high energy of the spark to ignite.

    Low octane gas is easier to ignite and under high boost will prematurely ignite.

  • @jakayoh That run was 12.8 at 84mph. The modified Z06 definately ran great in the upper end. CSX engine was detonating from not enough race fuel mixed with pump gas so I had to lift out of the throttle around half track. CSX has run low 11's at 120mph. See turbofreakdotcom channel for the 88 Dodge Omni I tune. You'll like it.

  • @420witchdoctor LOL, You are absolutely right...... all "stock" Z06 Vettes run 11.1 in the quarter, $2,000 is a "retarded" amount of money to build a reliable engine at 100hp per cylinder, and everyone should spend 100 Canadian dollars on a unknowingly good Holset from the salvage yard. Thank you for showing me the guiding light. Please excuse me while I rethink my many years of research and development on engine configuration and tuning.

  • wow do you think you know that much? quality of fuel means alot. cheaper gas has more water in it, makes it lean, secondly, with a turbo runnign so much boost you gotta have higher octane boost, or you so run lean. go to college like i did so you dont look like an idiot in front of everyone that reads your comment
