  • An amazing song by a great band

  • Great stuff, those days can return, should apetures reopen.I built a stone hut in Franklin Mass.

1972. You had to find your way in darkness to get to my fire. But we didn't have ipods! Didn't need them, the memories of Early Pink Ployd scared you deep enough to last a lifetime...

  • This is poetry!

  • hey how can i get this version on my ipod? its so chill whith gilmour singing the chorus, way better than the ummagumma version honestly. I still love ummagumma though ahha named me first bowl after it

  • I love Gilmour singing in this!

    Beautiful voice!

  • We want Gilmour and Waters together one more time.

  • has anyone else noticed how ginormous those hands are on roger waters?

i mean, seriously. he's got hands the size of an outfielder's glove!

  • BEEN THERE!

  • ps: are the last 5 minutes missing on your copy too?

  • @WeirSpirit

hmmm? The last 5 minutes? I dunno, I haven't watched the DVD in years...

    :)

PS I actually saw this when it was broadcast on public television. As a very young Floyd fan I was totally blown away.

  • Well well! How funny... just found this and loaded it this am, then i asked dave, for title at 32:00, he refers me to this and says 'note uploader' ! Hahahaha! Hello my friend, how are you? Btw this is Cassidy, of the now retired weirfaithful and so on...

Was treated like a bandit by YT so now... :-D i've become one.

Best to you, brother. btw this is the first real 'music' i discovered.. old Floyd! Hadn't listened to it in decades. So this is blowing my mind! Yayyy

  • i have the 'UmmaGumma' now about 20 years. at that time i begun experiences with acid. imagine to be on acid and listen to the full studio album. this were such amazing feelings and senses i never felt anymore. i recommend everybody to try that.

  • @Mbdorf that's exactly how i grew up as a teen in Europe. I turned out ok ;-)

  • Rolononón del grandioso Ummagumma!! Los maestrazos Gilmour, Waters y el difunto Wright en sus años mozos.

  • oooer the golden mushroom shroop on thik guttoral heartty meals

  • god i just want to see and hear every single second of footage of Floyd that has ever been recorded!

  • God do i love that album. I remember when i was 15, carrying my crappy acoustic guitar around at school, showing my friends how to play "Grantchester Meadows." Such a beautiful song.

Thank you so much for this aurora1957A, and God bless you!

  • i wanna come to Grantchester Meadows and stay there forever

    Greets from Slovenia

  • Better than the ummagumma's one...

  • Simply the best video in the world! :)

  • Fantastic and oustanding song from UMMAGUMMA(1969) album a respectful one that enlight the narrow way...

  • aww, I like to fell asleep listening to this gem

  • How can I get the rest of this video??

And Robnaylor55-that must have been awesome. I have always wanted to go into a club of coffee house and do some extreme retro floyd/Barrett like Wined and Dined and Cirrus Minor and just see how people react. Just think about how valuable this piece of video is. So obscure but so amazing.

  • @goodbyebluesky1000

the KQED video An Hour With Pink Floyd used to be quite easy to find on the web, the copy I bought was quite professionally (and I assume not quite legally) made.

    :)

  • Nice sound quality! Thanks :D

  • Never aged music: keeps the spirit and echoes forever!

  • awesome. and sometimes the heaviest tunes are the quietest.

  • Played this at a Folk Club last week....several people were astounded that it was a Pink Floyd song!

  • die hard fan van pf maar dit nummer had ik nog nooit gehoord weet iemand op welk album dit eventueel staat?

  • @ThePeeterd

The studio version is found on the 2 lp set "Ummagumma"

De studioversie wordt gevonden op 2 lp " Ummagumma"

  • @ThePeeterd

( Barrett i guess?)

  • Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground.

See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.

And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,

Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea

  • Ummaguma, such an odd recording, so different and lacking in top 40 appeal, catchy riffs, etc. yet such a popular recording in its time. How people would ignore this today. Sad.

  • this was an incredible find. great quality of a rare performance. i've always loved this song on ummagumma, and now i love it all over again.

  • This is one of the best things I've seen & heard online in a very long time. Thanks very, very much for posting this -- you really made my day!

  • Contained in "Around the Mystic"

  • you know even peiple who dont like good music love this song it is just so relaxing and pure

  • pink floyd

  • to be quite honest, i prefer this version rather than than the studio version.

the chorus sung by gilmour is breathtaking :)

  • @69michaelskates69 I think so as well. I'd seen this on PBS when I was 15 or 16,around the time "Dark Side" came out. I thought at the time that this piece was the most mesmerizing music I'd heard and still think so today. You might ask how I can remember these things after all these years? Simple: it was(is) SO FUCKING COOL!!!

  • Could anybody give me the audio track of this live?

    Thanks!

  • I can listen to this song over and over again, it is such a beautiful song.

  • Better than studio version:love the chorus sung by Dave

  • What a brilliant band Pink Floyd was. Glad I was alive when they were making music.

  • @69michaelskates69 Can you please tell me where you found it? Thanks.

  • @mrapman1 where i found what??

  • awesome

  • It's proved: many genious can't stand many years together in a band :(

  • i love this song

  • what went wrong two artists eh the best in the world the most amazing song ever

  • A great memory.. Just beautiful.. These guys are great individually, yet they became more than the sum of their parts. This version of Grantchester Meadows has become one of my all time favorite Floyd songs, like most of my favorite PF music which comes out of the Syd Barrett and pre DSTOM eras. Nothing wrong with the later stuff either.. I just like the sometimes raw feeling of the earlier music.

  • @BluezplayerAJ Amen.

  • erm satan was the bringer of light actually

  • Wow, then I LOVE satanic music!

Thanks fpr the tip, where can I find more?

    much luv from peru

  • This is what its all about =))

  • Liike metling cheese the end.......unparallled

  • Man the best song roger wrote IMO Dave singing it.and Wright interlude

    GRAVY...

  • This would be a nice song that Dave and Roger could do if they ever reunite..

  • 5 STARS!!

  • I love Daves voice on this version.

Dont get me wrong roger sounds great too.

  • Yeah, but you're right. It sounds so much better when Dave sings the chorus. Don't feel bad.

  • R.I.P. Rick..

  • One of my favourite summertime songs.

  • imagine waters and gilmour sitting down to play this song together today...

  • Never know it could happen.

  • @snapsoidpablo1 the two most amazing artists ever what went wrong eh

  • @snapsoidpablo1 -- could happen, they got together for a charity gig earlier this year and rumoured gilmour will guest on waters wall tour later in year, can but hope

  • @monstersjumper Gilmour said he plans on playing Comfortably Numb at one of Waters's shows.

  • @snapsoidpablo1 Amazingly, as recent events have shown, it might be entirely possible! :=)))))

  • @snapsoidpablo1 hahaha they'd be fighting over the harmonies and solo

  • @snapsoidpablo1 they better stop being gay and do it before it's too late...they already waited too long for a full band reunion!

  • @snapsoidpablo1 Now that they've actually played Comfortably Numb together, I can't help but hope it will happen with this song too.

  • @snapsoidpablo1 I used to think the same thing. Its not like they couldnt, they are both still alive. And not completely adverse to playing together.

  • @charliegrs It was a unique era, mescaline warriors I guess. While we enjoyed them, they were already stuck in time, our now. But, I love this song,

  • Idilic song!!

  • Poetic.

  • not heard this for years thank you. once upon a time i used to sit in the meadows at granchester and ''chill'' amazing place then jeffrey archer moved there......

  • @woodcockdj Please tell me more!!!!!

  • @woodcockdj

    Who is Jeffery Archer?

  • so peaceful

  • I like what you have done with this.

    Beautiful song.

  • Good Job.
