Great stuff, those days can return, should apetures reopen.I built a stone hut in Franklin Mass.
1972. You had to find your way in darkness to get to my fire. But we didn't have ipods! Didn't need them, the memories of Early Pink Ployd scared you deep enough to last a lifetime...
hey how can i get this version on my ipod? its so chill whith gilmour singing the chorus, way better than the ummagumma version honestly. I still love ummagumma though ahha named me first bowl after it
Well well! How funny... just found this and loaded it this am, then i asked dave, for title at 32:00, he refers me to this and says 'note uploader' ! Hahahaha! Hello my friend, how are you? Btw this is Cassidy, of the now retired weirfaithful and so on...
Was treated like a bandit by YT so now... :-D i've become one.
Best to you, brother. btw this is the first real 'music' i discovered.. old Floyd! Hadn't listened to it in decades. So this is blowing my mind! Yayyy
i have the 'UmmaGumma' now about 20 years. at that time i begun experiences with acid. imagine to be on acid and listen to the full studio album. this were such amazing feelings and senses i never felt anymore. i recommend everybody to try that.
God do i love that album. I remember when i was 15, carrying my crappy acoustic guitar around at school, showing my friends how to play "Grantchester Meadows." Such a beautiful song.
Thank you so much for this aurora1957A, and God bless you!
And Robnaylor55-that must have been awesome. I have always wanted to go into a club of coffee house and do some extreme retro floyd/Barrett like Wined and Dined and Cirrus Minor and just see how people react. Just think about how valuable this piece of video is. So obscure but so amazing.
the KQED video An Hour With Pink Floyd used to be quite easy to find on the web, the copy I bought was quite professionally (and I assume not quite legally) made.
Ummaguma, such an odd recording, so different and lacking in top 40 appeal, catchy riffs, etc. yet such a popular recording in its time. How people would ignore this today. Sad.
@69michaelskates69 I think so as well. I'd seen this on PBS when I was 15 or 16,around the time "Dark Side" came out. I thought at the time that this piece was the most mesmerizing music I'd heard and still think so today. You might ask how I can remember these things after all these years? Simple: it was(is) SO FUCKING COOL!!!
A great memory.. Just beautiful.. These guys are great individually, yet they became more than the sum of their parts. This version of Grantchester Meadows has become one of my all time favorite Floyd songs, like most of my favorite PF music which comes out of the Syd Barrett and pre DSTOM eras. Nothing wrong with the later stuff either.. I just like the sometimes raw feeling of the earlier music.
@snapsoidpablo1 -- could happen, they got together for a charity gig earlier this year and rumoured gilmour will guest on waters wall tour later in year, can but hope
not heard this for years thank you. once upon a time i used to sit in the meadows at granchester and ''chill'' amazing place then jeffrey archer moved there......
An amazing song by a great band

PS I actually saw this when it was broadcast on public television. As a very young Floyd fan I was totally blown away.

( Barrett i guess?)

Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea
