and that's too fast really, It is the front end getting pushed around by the plow that forces the corrections....since I installed chains its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better and yes a windshield is in my immediate future....
can anyone please andswer my question? I was plowing with my suzuki kingquad 700 and then right where it says how many miles you get, it turned to err. Can someone tell me what i have to do to fix it?
I'll get my son to sit on the back seat, he is about 185 or so....maybe even the Golden Retriever, she is about 90 lbs... that might settle it down a bit!
Not at that time..I have since added chains to all four wheels and it makes a tremendous difference. I would definitely recommend chains for heavy plowing.
i used a flap from a old plow i had sitting in the yard its about 6-7 inches longer than the original u can use anything thats the same i just cut mine down it was 7.5ft and i made it 5ft for the blade you will deff. notice a difference if you change it. the snow actually stays in the blade thats why it throws farther i also added a bar that goes from the middle and holds the flap down that really helps when going fast to hold the flap in place. hope that helps you!
did u have problems with the welds breaking on the part where the plow blade mounts to the push tubes? i have to weld mine back on i also found out if u put a longer flap as i call it on the plow u wont get as much blow over from the blade and it throws it farther also.
Get some tracks, expensive but way way better. I plow our ice road, about 2 miles, using a Bombardier Quest 500, with AD Bovine trackes. With tracks on snow a quad is almost unstoppable. A snowmobile is better for off road, but you can't plow with it.
yep i notised that too i purchaset "fast install" cheap cheap pare of chaines and i put them on and drove about 20 minutes and the right side chain out side links were open and the chain hit the plastik rear fender. thats what you get when you buy swedish stuff..
I wasn't using chains when the video was taken but (last winter)...however I did buy chains for all four wheels this year and it has made a fantastic difference...I would recommend them
Good plan...you will absolutely NEED to get them as tight as possible...I deflate the tire then put on the chains, then re-inflate the tires to about 15 psi (I know, I know)...then I even use bungee cords on the outside (lug nut side) of the tire to snugh them up. They tend to expand as you get going and will hit the frame if not TIGHT!
King quads rule... I wish I had mine back... I hopped off it but forgot to put it in nuteral, and the choke was on full, and it drove itself over a 14' ledge. When I had it it was great though.
I had a 60" moose plow on my honda 300!! Worked fine. We get ALOT of snow here in Maine. I know have a Rubicon with a Glacier plow, wished I had the moose plow back. But any way all you need are "Ice screws" that screw into your tread and they work very good. They are kinda pricey. 500 gold screws costed me $35. To me they are alot better than chains!! I will make a video soon and show you!! You dont want a plow less than 60"!! The snow doesnt get out away from your tires under a 60"!!
you have a glacier plow but wish you had your moose back...is it the glacierI or glacier II. I'm looking into getting a glacier plow...is there something wrong with them I should know about?
The glacier plow I have came from polaris. My machine isnt as high as a polaris. It hooks in the back on the trailer hitch and runs all the way to the front. It has a hinge design in the front to prevent it from going side to side. Well this hinge prevents me to lower the plow lower than the bottom of the tires. A moose you can lower it as far as you like. My drive way is lower than the garage and if I plow coming out the plow wont scrap coming out and I have to back drag out.
The Glacier plow i'm looking at hooks up on the front. I didn't know polaris made a glacier plow that hooks up on the hitch. any how I may go with the 52" for my sportsman 500 H.O. ...i'm a little worried that a 60" might be to hard on the machine
Man go with a 60". You'll wished you did. I had my 60" moose on my 300 honda and no trouble. Angle plowing with under a 60" doesnt get the snow out enough and it roll back under the tire causing traction loss. My friend didnt listen to me and got a 48" on his 450 honda and hated it. Best results is to plow every 1" makes it faster to plow. You wait and plow 6" it takes a hell of alot longer to clean it up.
I agree that 48" is too small..most atv's are 48" wide but it would depend on the size of your machine. At full angle a 48" blade covers a little under 46" and 52" covers 48" and 60" covers 52 1/2". My machine is 48inches wide so I will end getting the 60"
the plow is to big for the rig thats why it is being pushed by the plow. the snow only looks to be a few inches deep. i have a 400 big bear with a 42" moose plow and i can plow 12" like nothing. if it gets deeper then i will have to steer into it to keep it straight. my dad has a 450 foreman with a 50" plow and he has the same problem.
actually the snow is about 6" deep, it had been over 18" but slumped to a thick heavy mess the consistency of concrete and I was plowing UP a steep hill. The addition of chains on all 4 wheels has improved things a lot this year though. No the plow is not too big for the ATV
You also need to understand the stock tires on the King Quads leave much to be desired. I put ITP Mudlite XTRs on mine, and its night and day. I have a 60 inch plow that has been on my King Quad, a Rincon, and a 300 Fourtrax before that, and I can tell you its all about the tires and the weight of the snow. Heavy snow combined with having the blade on an agle is going to make it more difficult.
just got a 60 inch cycle country plow for my 750 brute, works great but sucks when it gets too deep and starts sliding...obviously u know what im talking about
I have a 60" Moose County plow ordered, now delayed until the end of the month due to the mount being out of stock. I hope the significant snow holds off until then. I'm looking forward to the plowing.
I didn't know how big the video file was going to be so I stopped, I wasn't very familiar with it then. And No it is no problem to get going again..not even then (before I had chains on all 4 of the tires).
How does it feel and have if ever plowed on gravel if you have what was it like? I just bought a moose 60 inch county plow it looks awesome but I have to wait till next year to try it that sucks.
I was out yesterday and plowed the same road and then about a mile of main road as well...again all gravel...if the road hasn't been driven on very often the snow won't pack down and give you a decent frozen base. Today, since I haven't driven on it much there was lots of loose gravel flying around, just makes a lot of noise and "brown snow" coming off the right side of the blade (thats where its designed to come off if you angle the blade to the right
its the 60" County plow, I have used both the standard and County plow...for the stuff I do, clearing a long road (what you saw was about 1/2 the road) it is ideal because it "throws" the snow well off to the right like a highway plow...the standard plow is great at moving and pushing snow but to throw it you need the County plow and about 20 - 30 kmph
its km/h....its a Canadian ATV!....if you maintain about 20-25 km/h the snow rolls off the right side of the plow and gets thrown several feet, clear of the road.
That's kilometers per hour not miles per hour, so about 16 mph!

jazi2828 3 years ago
Hi jazi, nope, no broken welds yet but I see it might be a problem, my mig welder is on stand-by :).
I like the idea of the a bigger flap since I eat a lot of snow when plowing fast, especially into the wind.
What did you use for the flap?

The best thing to do is buy some tracks, you will be able to plow anything.

if ur gonna spend 4000$ on tracks u might as well hire someone to plow u out. Its like 20-30 bucks each time.

I'd also like to point out he didn't have the differential locked on the King Quad in the video, so he was essentially running in 3 wheel drive mode.
