while you are carrying anything objective related (i.e. bomb, or flag), you move slower than what you would be moving without it. If you pick up and drop the flag over and over, you move almost as fast as if you did not have the flag. This makes it easier to cap a flag, of course you could try to be sneaky and not drop the flag to move fast so the opposing team doesnt know where the flag is, but that doesnt work on MLG style maps.
