Several things to note here #1 the approach was too slow. #2 The angle of his approach seemed nervous you can see it in his handlebar movement. #3. His back tire hit a rock sending the front end "down" while over the lip ---voila!! crash,bang,boom,crunch,yeeeeoo­ooww,snap,ping,poof!!

Looks like the back tire hit the lip and there for pushed the front end down! Did you look at this drop and study the angles before you rode it? Brian Lopes has a great book on Trail Riding and skills check it out it has helped me alot and I am 1/10th his skill level. Hope you had a speedy recovery and I can imagine that hurt not only pride but your body!!

My friend did had a similar bail in Moab in '98 on day 3 of a planned 7 days. We drove from Vancouver, Canada but he couldn't ride so the rest of us had 2 more days of riding without him before taking pity on him, driving to Vegas and getting him his first lap dance.
