Does your monster transform automatically, or do you need to somehow capture others? I'm training a water affinity one and trying to get it to upgrade, but I don't know how to make it like that knight, naga, or dragon thing.
Wow, I really feel bad for the person who bought this piece of garbage, Square-Enix is the biggest piece of fucked up shit the industry has managed to push out of there ass, to date.
The Arena is a waste of time...It's something they threw in just because, I think. I like the additional story that was added with the bonus dungeons which bridges the gap between the two games but leaves room for imagination

I havent gotten CT:DS simply cause i dont have a DS to begin with, but if I ever do, I'd def get this game cause I love the SNES version. That being said, is there any point to this extra addition, cause it looks like your raising pokemon, and if I wanted to do that, I'd buy a pokemon game.
P.S as far as I'm concerned Pokemon can burn in hell
@KroniKKidZ28 Rest assured, it's not like pokemon. There's a strategy involved in training and battling your monsters, keeping its trust, having it class up (or down in some cases, which makes it interesting), as well as elemental and stat changes. Basically, it allows for a good battle multiplayer -- kinda like a game within a game. The main point is prize arena where you can battle for actual in-game items, some which can only be won in the arena.
i like rpgs but i don't like ones that are WAY too puzzle oriented and leave you with nowhere to go...I like a mix of hard fighting and pretty good puzzles. Also, a good story and the game needs to actually flow instead of leaving you not knowing what to do next.
I started playing a few days ago. I like the story and it flows pretty nicely. You know where to go and what to do next. There's few puzzles and they're really easy to figure out. Its mostly going back and forward.
The battle system isn't too complex, no defend command or front/back, and you can't attack your allies. There's only Panacea to cure status, or the status is gone after the battle is over. You learn/unlock new techs fast and selecting the area/line of the tech is cool. But you're pretty much using the same techs early on. And there's encounters you can't avoid which can get annoying.
Oh and the arena is helpful because you can win/find items (equips) before obtaining them in the story. But you also get crap items like pots and battling can drain your funds early on. Its nice to take a break and train/battle with your monster. It doesn't get that fun until it grows and learns tech.
yea get the game....at least this game isn't like FF10...that game was straight foward through the gameplay...not really allowing you to explore different parts of the world...at least chrono trigger doesn't make you do things in chronological order
Tbh, FFX was quite straight forward and linear until about the last 1/4 of the game. Chrono Trigger does have more sidequests and room for exploration though.
@STDealer Wow, it's so depressing seeing people like you throwing shit into random youtube videos without knowing anything about it or what is it about. You obviously were living under a rock all this time and don't know anything about the DS version of this game.
@STDealer and @MayPLaY56 you havebt played the game so why are you saying this things oh ya and the two of you are dumb

does anyone know how to get your monster to learn techs and change form? mine just won't!
vinnyconundrum 3 years ago
Go to Gamefaqs and read the Arena of the Ages guide. It says to give it a tech item and send it to Antiquity (12,000 BC) to train for tech.

Oh and the monster needs a good mix of training and balance to grow. Just be patient.

wow it actually looks shittier than the psx version
Cede181 3 years ago
The "shittiness" is due to a poorly taken video. The graphic quality is actually comparable to the SNES version.
And unlike the PSX version at least the DS won't have load time.
tssf 3 years ago 4
The graphics don't look impressive for a NDS game port. I was expecting something close to like FF III DS.
I won't be buying this game also because I played it on the SNES in January this year (got the game from eBay).
