It's a real scientific observation. Somehow asian and caucasian palates react differently to durian. Don't know why but that's the way it is.

I don't see how it can taste good......most of what we taste is from smell, so if it smells like a cadaver or rotten onions and feet, wouldn't it taste the same?? maybe sweet rotten feet lol

In case for fruits it's difrent. I have tasted fruits that's very sweet smelling but extremely sour and bitter. Which many of them are.

by wikipedia, there are many varities of 'durian' which can smell different, and the malay varities are the most notorious, which i tried today, with violent aftermath. that thing stank like a ton of rotten onions! it was a biological weapon!
