I live near Eaglepass, Tx the location of where this movie was shot and let me tell you it hasn't changed much since the 1970's. The town basically remains pretty much the same.

i like both both films a lot, but no country was a better movie than there will be blood because it has more to say and overall its plot has more depth. there will be blood was about an oil tycoon driven to insanity by his desire for money. on the other hand, no country speaks volumes about the eradication of america's moral code in the post-vietnam war era, which not only includes people's excessive desire for money, but also their willingness to kill for it.

why are people so mad about the main character dying? when that part happened i felt like i was suddenly sucked backed into reality and i realized that anyone as well as myself could die. i think an audience needs to be faced with reality every once in a while.

The movie was about time changing and old men seeing the past in a different light. It's an old tired story, rewritten in the hopes that an imature and simple minded audience will see great wisdom and sophistication in the plot.

It's so tired that they tried to dress it up with gritty western style dialog, star appeal, and cinematography.

I guess it worked for the simple-minded viewers...

art changes within culture along with the means and methods of displaying it. what's funny is that so many people are now immature and simple minded, and that is why i don't think there was meant to be great wisdom or sophistication in the plot; it wasn't necessary. many things like this are completely obvious to people, yet they do not notice until they have been spoon fed the information they have known for so many years. the realisation it incurred is why this movie affected so many.

the story was written by the greatest living american writer cormac mccarthy you moron. he developed the southern gothic style it's not just "dressed up". do some research on mccarthy he's really great maybe you'll realize what simple-mindedness is then.
