I'm sorry to hear you have the same problem as me, have you had this problem for long? I'd be interested to know what advice you have been given for it
Hope you're ok Twish. Recently, i had a terrible virus which caused a lymph node in my neck to swell to a gigantic size. i could hardly move my neck. Luckily, it went away within a day as they gave me an injection in my neck.
I had a damaged facial nerve due to a brain tumor. Talk about hell. Half my face drooped for a year. Luckily it got better, but i still wear dark glasses all the time, because nerve damage causes constant winking and wincing. (Sorry)
Trish, I had never heard of this problem prior to you going into hospital. It must be a nightmare for you and your family. I sincerely hope the docs can get to the bottom of this without resorting to the loss of the gland. All the best on Monday x
best to get it removed, I have been an Ent nurse for30 plus yrs. they always eventually come back and surgery now is so much better, I would take the chance and have the gland removed. Good luck.

/watch?v=Bbs99ww7ihc Twish - take a look at this video - it is our Fr. Alexander in our Sts Peter & Paul church in Santa Rosa, Ca. giving a sermon about St John of Shanghai & San Francisco whose prayers helped him when he was very ill. I had the blessed experience of receiving a blessing from (then) Bishop John when I was around 12 yrs old. Go 1/2 way into the video and it changes to English. Good luck and God Bless!

Twish - Thank you so much for sharing! I sincerely hope a knowledgeable "savior" appears for you. And - not to make light of your situation in any way, have you also turned to prayer for help? I have a friend - actually the priest at our church who I grew up with that had meningitis as a young teen. Doctors were very worried for him. In our Russian Orthodox Church we have a St. John (formerly Maximov) who was made a saint only ten years ago. My friend was helped by his prayers before he died.
Twish - I had a swelling of that gland on the right side of my face last year. Turned out it was a slightly infected salivary duct. I got antibiotics for it and it took care of it. Is yours an infection? Have you tried antibiotics?

It's hard to believe it's not some sort of tumor, such as a pleomorphic adenoma, apparently more common in women than men, or a stone. I certainly wouldn't be talked into having the gland removed unless I absolutely had to. That would make swallowing more difficult and affect your whole life instead of an occasional bout with hell. I'm glad you're going to see a someone who is a real specialist.

As I've told you I have problems with my glands in my neck that swell and it looks like I have mumps sometimes. It's not fun and painful, bless your heart -- I know you have to be so uncomfortable. I hope that you find someone or some answers that will help you out. I want our friend and queen to feel better!!! Did you see and ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) doctor? Wow.. look at the side videos.. surgery, exams.. maybe you will find some help, I hope so! Hugs!!

@twish1999 I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for ya! I know you have been in a lot pain and with no brandy to boot (ha ha). I have been debating on talking about my issues too just to either help others or get different ideas on how to deal with such things. You are a treasure and adored and we only want you to feel better! Big Hugs to you!!! Positive thoughts!!!
@Jinxie228 That is exactly why i went 'public' with this.... i'm amazed how many people have contacted me with similar issues telling me how they resolved their problem.... and yes, that Princess Bugsinrug had better find me some brandy quick! LOL!
Suck lemons? Lemon ice used to make my friend's gland swell even more since it was creating more saliva (just think of lemons and you'll feel your salivary glands start to work), but it was building up in the gland due to blockage by a stone. She used to pick at it with a fingernail until it was dislodged. It often took days of digging in her mouth.
If you don't have stones, what could possibly be causing the blockage? Can the duct be enlarged? I wish you luck. It's an awful condition.

@twish1999 I Googled "sialendoscopy," and the first site on the search results has two videos of stones being removed. One was almost as big as a tooth! I had no idea they could get that big.
I hope the doctor is able to resolve this problem for you. I know that my friend suffered terribly with this condition.
What a very sad story, there must be a specialist somewhere who can help and I do hope that the hospital will refer you. It doesn't seem reasonable to me that you should have to permanently have to be on antibiotic treatments. It must be extremely worrying for you to not know when the condition will flare up again. I do hope that a solution will soon be found.

I never heard what had you down, or how serious it was, and this is much more serious than I'd imagined. My only experience with the parotid is that as you age it gets tired and doesn't work as well as it used to. It's one of those lovely "benefits" of the 60s called "dry mouth," and it can be annoying, but nothing worse. You still have that to look forward to. :-)
There has to be a specialist somewhere who can open that duct and make it stay open! I'm crossing fingers that you find one.

Oh my gosh, you have been suffering.... my poor friend, yes i believe having the gland removed can cause partial paralysis of the face... i am glad that didn't happen to you. I hope all goes well for you on tuesday xoxoxo
I am sorry to hear that. I had a similar but not exactly the same. I was on medication for my colitis (infusions) and this medication gave me a tumor. my neck swelled up. They ended up removing one of my salivary glands. I had the video posted on my other channel, maybe I should re-post. got another tumor months after but it was my lymphnodes, had those removed as well. before my sugery for the salivary gland, they warned me I may wake up with a paralyzed face but I was ok.

Sorry but I have to add this as well Your docs are not being aggessive or thorough enough to address this It certainly could well be life threatening w/the swelling that you describe that induces unbearable pain. Pain that even Morphine isnt doing much for. Its as serious as serious can be Trish ! Your entire body is traumatized by these infections I can see it in your vid. Take someone with you that will demand accountability from the dr(s) & have it properly addressed No more brushing you off

I learned something new today. You are a very brave woman to share this with us. Generally, I understand what you are going through. My family and have had persistent health problems for many years, unfortunately, not with your specific problem. A second opinion is a good idea. My mother has had some good results with changes to diet. For example are there certain foods that cause more saliva to be generated? Would avoiding them help? Keep a food diary. It might help you spot trends.

Hope you're ok Twish. Recently, i had a terrible virus which caused a lymph node in my neck to swell to a gigantic size. i could hardly move my neck. Luckily, it went away within a day as they gave me an injection in my neck.
Thinking of you Twish.

Oh twish! I am so sorry to hear about your condition. Sitting here crying with you in the hosp. as I listen to you describe that awful pain MRI's, ultrasounds do not always show items that are within. I speak from exper. I do not have your issue & wish I knew something about this to offer you some insight. So glad that you are seeing the specialist specialist that deals with that gland. Demand to have it addressed my dear. That pain you were in is not something to be trifled with. Hugs
