Whats up everybody. I just want to share with you a video that I made for Enter the Dragon. Check it out if you have a chance and let me know what you think.
This is ridiculous. Holmes never had a "general lack of hygiene", he was described by Conan Doyle as "clean as a cat". Holmes would never go around kissing women. Watson would never punch Holmes. Holmes would never go unshaven. Holmes would never steal Watson's clothes. Irene Adler would never wander around in her underwear. What's with the pentagrams? The people rising from the grave? And, "the world as we know it will end"? Please. Holmes was never superman. He is a detective. Ridiculous.
@rosepillay It's not ridiculous, it's an interpretation. Yes, it's an action movie. No, it's not loyal to the books. Does that matter? No. Each incarnation of Sherlock Holmes should be viewed as its own work and not judged based on how it compares to the original.
Love love love this movie and the books!!!! This is one of the only movies that i feel doesnt ruin its book! The writers and director did a great job of keeping the charectors like the ones in the books. Robert Downey jr does a great job portraying Holmes. Same goes for jude law and rachael mcadams as watson and irene
@Luarrangel you know i gotta say"you suck" because this is one the bbbbbbbbbbest movies evvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvver made and the next one will be even better i'm sure, anyway IT IS A REALLY GREAT MOVIE
The movie "sherlock holmes" is a 5 star mysteris edge of seat kind of movie. When blackwood is hanged and buried, is just the start of the aventure. Blackwood escapes his death and will kill all who turn aganist him. "3 will lay dead and you will be the 4th" he said to holmes before he was hanged. when he uses his dark arts to do that. Or not magic? Your just gonna have to find out.
The characters appear to be completely different from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's own; why don't they release the same film after renaming the main characters? Then I'd go see it, because it wouldn't pretend to be something it's not. The use of 'Sherlock Holmes' will help draw in audiences, but jeez, they've done more than put a modern appeal to it--they've changed Watson and Holmes. Prime examples: Watson punching Holmes; Holmes kissing some woman who isn't THE woman--Irene Adler.
I've read the entire works on Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Connan Doyle. I loved how intelligent and arrogant he was. However, as i see it, if i wanted to see a true dipiction of his character, I'd watch one of those black and white movies. But this movie promises to show a side of Holmes I never saw much of in the books. His fighting prowess. Of course he never got into fights much in the books because of his planning, but I would still like to see a fighting Holmes, without his gun ambushes.
I'm with Samurai on this - while I can't say for sure until I've seen the movie. I've always read the books and found Holmes to be arrogant, rough around the edges, and, to be honest - very similar to his portrayal by Downey - at least in the trailer. I'm looking forward to watching this one.
Something period movies/series don't usually portray accurately, is just how judgmental and rigid society was in those times. If Sherlock Holmes looked like and behaved as he appears to in this movie, no one of standing would have had anything to do with him regardless of how good he was.
That said, Robert Downey jr plus a good script with a solid mystery should be entertaining anyway.
I've got to disagree with the whole "clean shaven" thing. Holmes is portrayed in the stories as a cocaine using intellectual who is no stranger to the fringes of society. Just read the opium den scene in "The Man with the Twisted Lip" to see how gritty the stories and the character were. It looks to me like the films got the character and the feel of the stories spot on.
I can't quite get the whole "Gasp, Oh Noes, they changed the book!!!" attitude that seems to come from so many people. Considering the absolute gobshite that has come from hollywood, not to mention that Holmes is the most portrayed character in cinematic history, I'm looking forward to a family romp, with incredibly talented cast, helmed by a very entertaining director, and calling itself a loose interpretation of the source. If you want to see yet another 'propper' Holmes, go back to the BBC.
i'm a huge holmes fan, and as excited as i am about the movie, i am a bit upset about how far they drifted from the famous detective's traditional image. Holmes is supposed to be a clean-shaven gentleman, not some ruffian. and they didn't even use his trademarked deerstalker cap and frock coat. looks exciting, but its not sherlock holmes
@marysboy1014 Those elements were never in the books. Not even the deerstalker cap. Those elements were a product of the time and society that made the movie. There were also scuffles mentioned in the books.
I really don't like this interpretation of Sherlock Holmes.

@rosepillay Agreed. It's a completely different character. You should watch the BBC version, it's a great modern interpretation.

I Think you jaja Estoy de acuerdo, los personajes no parecen ser los que Sir Arthur Describe cielos espero sea buena
oODarkSakuraOo 2 years ago
@shiap002 If you read the novels, these characters are much closer to the original novel characters than many of the previous incarnations
onesong89 2 years ago 3
um, actually, it is THE woman, which is why it's not canon, because the novel-Holmes really dislikes her.
however, everything else is pretty on-par for the novels.
