I Agree.Ruby Flipper were great, and i missed the mix and match dance routine.I wonder what became of Floyd and Phillip,i know Floyd contiued dancing to a point with another dance troupe and appeared a couple of times later on in 1977/78 with Legs and Co. All that a side,Legs and Co were great and i really liked them alot too! It was the last dance troupe called Zoo when things went dire.Classic clip this, and a nice post to be cherished!! Benja :-)
Who said Floyd joined Zoo? I didnt mention him joining Zoo,i said he contiued dancing with another Dance troupe.Read my comment again, and then you will see what i wrote.Thankyou for pointing out your own error for "yourself". Benja :-)
Ruby Flipper were great - the closest TOTP came to Hot Gossip avant la lettre, not that that's saying much - and they were axed because of nasty, reactionary attitudes within the BBC.
@RobinCarmody Not true whatsoever. The BBC was a bastion of progressive attitudes bordering on the politically correct. Ruby Flipper just didn't work with the public as a mixed gender dance troupe. The same supposedly "nasty & reactionary BBC" did not axe Hot Gossip. Point proved, I think.
@Norvik1602 I think you'll find that Flick Colby was right on the button with Ruby Flipper. She understood the coming of disco and mixed dance groups. Saturday Night Fever was just around the corner, and RF were perfect for the time. Legs & Co were the same old boring thing that had gone before. It is well documented that the bosses at the BBC told Flick that they did not like black lads (Floyd) lifting white girls and the troupe were victims of racism and sexist attitudes.
@FARMECROSS Oh yes, definately it was Ruby Flipper's final appearence, but Diddy did not mention about the new dance troupe, but i just that the following week they was still named the Top of the Pops dancers as Ed Stewart was referring to and but they was '????' at the end of that edition and but a competition was held anyway.

@louluvscats Floyd did not join the dance troupe Zoo later in November 1981 to September 1983. instead it was a different black person on the show?
