  • Ah man good times my sister and I used to watch every saturday. Thanks for posting this.

  • You were Skeptical. It worked for 22 years

  • On my way to work at Cypress Gardens, I would stop and visit Dick Bennick at WGTO. Around 72 he mentioned to me that he was doing the Dr Paul Bearer skit at WTOG Ch 44. Similar to one he had done in N Carolina. I told him that it was a nutty idea and would never work.

  • I almost thought u were t

Talking about the 1 from wwe

  • My childe hood hero lol!

  • this is the best, man this is awesome.

  • loved Creature Feature...and Dr Bennet lived around Leto High area , he was a great guy ...loved by everyone !!!

  • i would love to watch creature feature when i was a kid bring back so many memories when i used to live in plant city

  • This guy inspired my love of monsters and all things dark and creepy. I would watch him after Saturday morning cartoons in the mid 70's Ft. Myers, FL.

  • Wow! Dr. Paul Bearer! Brings back childhood

memories:) And Hee Haw! Ha Ha!!

    Polk County Fla.

  • My friend and I were just talking about him 2 days ago. I was in a couple of parades that he was in and remember being mad because then I wouldn't get to see him. He also used to be at the haunted house in Sunshine Mall. He was always seated in a big creepy chair and I used to think of him as the "Santa Clause" of Halloween...lol

  • Awesome!!! I remember him, great show! I thought this was a local show from Tampa fl

  • I too remember Dr. Paul Bearer from his brilliant inception at WGHP TV Channel 8 in High Point, NC, way back in the late 1960s, early 70s.

But that is not all...I went to the Carolina Theater Sat AM Shows at the Carolina in Winston-Salem in the 1960s, where Dick Bennick hosted the three hour program. I also enjoyed his DJ Days at WTOB AM Radio, where he was a DJ during the Golden Days of Rock & Roll. Yes I grew up with Dick Bennick, and he was a talented, and wonderful man.

  • Oops. this isn't the Paul Bearer I thought it was, lol.

  • Same here; on his hearse during Gasparilla in '89 or so.

  • Dick Bennett, was a professional magician and a DJ on WLAK-AM in Lakeland, Fl before he was Doctor Paul Bearer. IIRC, he was on channel 44. Occasionally he would do a bit of sleight of hand on Creature Feature (the name of the show in the vid).

Who remembers Andy Hardy and Manuel Berrio (salute and happy days), on the CBS affiliate Channel 13,.Shock Theater?

    Rest in Peace Dick

  • Thank you so much for posting these. Brings back my childhood in Tampa... :)

  • I absolutely loved watching this! It takes me back to my childhood when I lived in Florida. Classic!

  • wow this brings back SOOOO many memories. I've seen him in a couple of parades in florida. Pretty sure it was the Citrus Parade

  • God how I miss him...

  • Holy crap I used to watch Dr. Paul Bearer every saturday when I was a kid . Creature Feature was the greatest.

  • is that his real face

  • Back in the 70s I had a friend who's mother knew him. She was a nurse and he came to her for help with his glass eye. One day I found out that I'd missed meeting him only by a few minutes. Creature Feature was by far my favorite show, and not because of the movies.

Ha! The Hee Haw clip! I saw that by accident once. I hated Hee Haw, but once while flipping through channels I saw the good doctor on it! I was stunned!

  • I have an autogrphed photo of him. WTOG had a haunted house promoting something (I don't remember what) in Plant City, Florida and I went through the haunted house and was able to get his autograph.

  • Ever Sat. in the 70s, Creature Feature. Got to meet him once when he came to Sarasota Square Mall. Thanks for posting!

  • Oh man I loved this show when I was a kid. I couldn't remember his name for the life of me and after much searching I found this. Great upload!

  • Nice doorbell!

  • I grew up in Greensboro, N.C. and recall the late night show that Dr. Paul Bearer hosted. It was called Shock Theater. This would have been in the late 1960s and I was too young to watch the show on a regular basis as it came on around 11:00 P.M. or so on Saturday nights. I did catch snippets of it from time to time and recall a joke he made about Gravy Train dog food. Gravy Train supposedly made it's own gravy when you put water on it. Paul said he fed his dog Grave Train dog food.

  • Dr Paul is the greatest!!!

  • Yeah, this was worth checking out. I heard about this guy on coast to coast to.

  • I was listening to coast to coast am last night.. this really brought back some memories from the 80's

  • I heard that Coast to Coast show, too! That fellow was talking about all the creature features and other shows of the like. I kept waiting to hear some proper credit for Dr Paul Bearer, and eventually he came through!

  • This is so fucking awesome. Brings me back in time. Where the hell did you get these clips? I want them.. No, I NEED them!

  • Yeah i wish it was back on t.v. so my kids could have the chance to watch it.

  • R.I.P Dr. Paul Bearer

  • I could sit all day & watch old archives of Dr. Paul Bearer if i could find them

  • This program kicked butt! It's a classic. Great Saturday afternoon 2pm movie watching. RIP Bearer. You are missed.

  • I love these old shows, too! I grew up in Dallas watching Museum Of Horrors in the 70's and then The Film Vault with Randy and Richard in the 80's. Dr Paul Bearer and just about anybody else who hosted a show like this get a chapter in Elena Watson's 1991 book called Late Night Horror Hosts: 68 Vampires, Mad Scientists, etc. It's a terrific book and covers everybody from Vampira all the way up to Saturday Night Dead with Stella and even Commander USA.

  • Dick Bennick had a Glass Eye on the left

  • I wonder if his children and other family members know how much we fans loved this guy's show and still do and that so many of us still carry this character in our hearts.

I come here every now and then and watch these shots of him and I still get a grin.

    Classick stuff

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I was friends with his grand daughter in Highschool. He lived about 20 minutes from us and we used to see him driving his hurse around town.

  • Does anyone know if the "Doc" really had a glass eye?

  • I used to hang out with his son....he had this Capri he loved driving....Dick was hilarious, great jokes....every Halloween he had this coffin in his front room and he would let kids in to see it.....scary effects.....he was the best neighbor

  • Just Remember .... It's Not The Cough That Carried Him Off .. It's The Coffin They Carried Him Off In. R.I.P.

  • I live in Mexico City, and I remember living in Parrish Fl. This is so fantastic, thanks for 4 and half mins.

  • Wow, does this take me back. I watched the good Doctor nearly every Saturday afternoon back in the '70s when I lived in Melbourne, FL. Good times, good times. RIP Dr. Paul...

  • AWESSSOME! Tampa native and came across this video. Truley amazing! I used to watch this on Saturday's as a kid. Ahhh, 80's cartoons, WWF, Dr. Paul bearer. The world's a different place now. It seemed so simple then (at least as a kid). Oct 30th is Dr. Paul Bearer day forever in Tampa.

  • Thanks for putting these up. I grew up watching him on Saturday afternoons getting my Godzilla and Gamera fixes, as well as the campy horror movies they played. Mr. Bennick will be missed. Don't forget, Oct. 30 is "Dr. Paul Bearer Day" in Tampa!

  • I loved his puns.

  • when I met my future wife, her mother was dating Dr. Paul Bearer....the first time I met my future mother-in-law was in the Dr.s living room....I couldn't believe it....they only dated about a year or so though...he was a nice guy...

  • I remember this from the 80's. Thank you for posting. I remember Dr Paul Bearer. He used to "whip" up some lunch like cream of finger soup. He also had a hearse he would drive in a Halloween parade if I remember

  • WTOG as far as the eye can seeeee, then the good Dr. would take out his glass eye.

  • You must find and post more! Please!

  • omg the memories are flooding back to me! This is GREAT, thank you for finding & posting! My love of all things horror can be traced directly back to Dr. Paul Bearer & WTOG's Saturday Creature Feature broadcasts. Thank you!!!

  • Shady heroine addict or sinister horror show host???

  • I lived in Titusville Florida as a youngster and I watched Dr. Paul Bearer, Fright Theater and Creature Feature on cable WTOG Channel 44 Friday Nights and Saturday afternoons. He was a classic, and I can't think of Florida in the 1970's without thinking about him. And also maybe, Championship Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie.

  • I'm with ya. I grew up in Sarasota and loved Dr. Paul Bearer and Gordon Solie both.

  • Grew up in Port Charlotte and I used to park myself in front of the TV and watch him every weekend!

  • I'm from Staten Island NY and my grandparents lived in Port Charlotte for 31 years - needless to say I vivisted at least once per year - I remember this well from my childhood! What a memory!! Also the WTOG promos with the 'pac man' faces in the two 4's!

  • I'm a Tampa Native & this was my saturday afternoon, and Evel Kneivel of course. Build a jump ramp anybody. Never will be another Dr. Paul Bearer. he gave of his time to the ferry Lewis telethones and so many more public appearances for the kids. he was great.

  • Native here too. Loved this show and host! Loved how he would parody commercial products. This show and the old Gordy Soley wrestling, with Dusty Rhodes, the Brisco Bros. ahh to be young again.

  • Dr. Paul Bearer was one Host who most up North don't know about or even care existed. Us Southerners had horror story shows too.

  • Hi! You wouldn't happen to know where I could buy some Dr. Paul Bearer videos or DVDs, would you?

  • He hosted "Horror Incorporated" on KSTP in Minneapolis/St. Paul for one season around 1974. I think he was originally from Detroit. I've found little reference anywhere to his time up here and hardly anyone I know remembers him.

I wonder if he just sent filmed inserts to different markets? Check out the '69-'76 KSTP Horror Inc. intro & outro on Youtube. Absolutely the spookiest of them all!

  • wow he was really well known I grew up in the Tampa Bay area so I watched him every Saturday afternoon on wtog Channel 44
