Amazing what you can do with some scaled 2d drawings imported onto a couple of drawing planes, and the use of a few surface sweep tools in solid works.
I Am currently a Student studying a degree in computer aided design the University of Central Lancashire UK.
just completed my second year and about to progress to my final year, and finding solid works great for expressing my ingenuity.
i was wondering how you get your scaled .bmp drawings?
funny how he built his own bolts lol. could of pulled a lot of this stuff from a catalog. I personally would of started from a block and sculpted it by trimming. kinda old school though.
"In the future" is already here.. and has been a for a long time. We use laser scanners for MEP (Mechanical/electrical/plumbing) for doing as-build drawings. the only issue with it now is that its hard to modify, which is one of the big needs thats lost in that proccess. Scanners actually take some time to set up also since you have to set up data points for scanning and can be a hassle. still a cool feature for cars and parts and such.
hey i was wondering how u imported the pictures of the ortho views of the R8 because when i import pictures each time i select a different plane the picture follow the view. excellent surfacing btw!!! all sketches fully defined!

In the future it may be easier to find a 3d scanner and just scan it into SW.

please answer this ima beginner at 3ds max and its not working out at ALL could you tell me how u learned all that
MistaBigBoss 2 years ago
This isn't 3DS Max, so you're asking in the wrong place. SolidWorks is better for normal modeling anyway.
