I am living through my memories and still remember the smell of the place in the morning fresh air, ... including the smelter when the wind blew from the mine into town :) heheheh. Still, my fondest memories of Africa. No crime, no strife, no stress, honestly, I would still go back if I found a work niche... sick of the big cities and modern life stress. ..
Hi Cameron, I did project the films at Area 2 for a while. I was a classmate of Harvey Slater, you probably remember him too, he was there for quite a few yrs. Don't remember your father, names are going, faces maybe. My dad got the steam locos running for BCL. We were in a way pioneers in Phikwe. We lived through its foundation days, no tar road from Seruli, heck almost no tar in Phikwe, never mind :). Opening of Coop, great time to have been there, peaceful, timeless, priceless...5*memories

The theatre is not from my Kopano days, but we played school cricket, tennis and badmington at Area 2. July and August 79 and 80 I projected movies at Area 2 during my school hols from overseas on their 16mm projectors, great fun... Is Area 1 open air cinema still the same?
@betoaguiar63 Unfortunately, the Area 1 Cinema is no longer operating. Did you used to run the projectors for the friday afternoon films for the school children at Area 2? My name is Cameron Taylor. You may have known my Father, Glenn Taylor? He used to work at BCL.
Man, I spent my days at that club and many many hours, days and weeks of pleasure in the Area 2 swimming pool with my friends. I know those kopjies like the back of my hand, i used to have fun sneaking up on dassies and spooking them, heck, there was no TV then, what else could you do? :) Wonderful times and a great time to have been there. The baboons used to come down when we left the pool and drink, we gave them chips, it was a time like no other...
They were all teachers at Kopano, I have been told Mr Williams has passed away...
