That's because of the magic of Nobuo Uematsu. If you think about it FF1-3 sound identical and 4-6 sound identical 7 has abit of FF6 sound but as the games progress the sound sounds more different. Pretty much some times every new game they take the unused soundtrack made from the previous game and put it on that game but try to sound like the last song while going a step higher at the same time. Uematsu a musical genius.
When I was such a little boy playing FF6 I remember wondering who was making the breathing noise if it was the monster in the caves, the name was umaro I guess ...
I just want to thumbs up all of the comments here. I do not see one negative comment. Final Fantasy 6 and its soundtrack is, without doubt, one of the best. I think Nobuo Uematsu got tired of music around Final Fantasy 10. Lol.
@MDog252 You sad, pathetic little person. You have no idea what you're missing if you never played Final Fantasy 4 and/or 6. 12 was garbage, first Final Fantasy in the series I actually bought and then got bored with and never finished. 11 doesn't count, it should never have been listed as a core numbered Final Fantasy. Call it Final Fantasy Online, World of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy: WTFMMO. I don't care what you call it, it should NOT be FFXI.
This song has such deep meaning...I imagine Terra standing in a graveyard, looking at a grave marked ''Terra the Esper'' and then walking away into a bright light, with the rain stopping, and the dark atmosphere melting away, as she walks into her new life...Only one tear is shed.
I honestly don't think that any other game made has captured so perfectly the emotional themes with its music, and to do so with as primitive of sound quality as the SNES had is downright impressive. It helps that the characters in this game were developed enough for the music to have a theme to capture- games with 3 or even just 1 main character have less characterization than this one nowadays.

This tune really makes you feel like you're stuck in a cold place while living side by side with the enemy in very hopeless times.

This song has an element of shadiness to it, balanced with class and cunning.

ff6 -ffX were the best, but ff6 and ff8 had THE best soundtracks!

Reminds me of those good ol' days in the 90's. The 4th generation of game consoles was definitely the best.

@finalstrike14 heck yea! and back when creators put more focus on actual gameplay..

@RicoLen1 I've never even played ff XI. I think 4, 6, 8, and 9 are the best (in my opinion). In fact just today I started a new file on 4.
