@ACuriousSoldier ive studied quite alot on the DDR (East Germany). The real reason that many wanted out was because they desired the better life style in West Berlin.

Overall, the consumer goods in West Berlin were of a higher standard and wages were higher. It was all about "comparative poverty". People in the DDR were well looked after, there were many social services etc, but some were willing to destroy all this for thie own selfish ends-and this is exactly what they did.

Firstly, those countries are not Communist in the pure sense, they are merely socialist.

during the early 1990s, fall of USSR etc, many Cubans left Cuba for Florida. The conditions in Cuba were hell. I was told by a Cuban frst hand, that this was more in the 1990s, not now.

people also fight to leave capitalist states, but western propanganda barely mentions this. Is there poverty in India, in Haiti, in USA? Many in USA hate it, and want out (don't tell anyone lol)
