What is even more important, this 'giant' aka Spain was so far in debt by the time Phillip II died. I don't see England as being an empire in the movie, and at several points it was stated that the military was in no form for war. Did we see the same movie?
Wasn't there also issues with the spanish ships? Their design wasn't able to cope with the seas in that area, but also their canons, they were able to cope with long range fire not short range - however the English ships were able to manouver better in close range and their canons were better in short range conflict.

It really shows and explains in detail how queen Elizabeth planned to rule the throne with such power and strength (it also showed how she does love somewhere in her and wants to be loved in return). I thought Cate looke adorable in the armor. In reality, all Queen Elizabeth wore was the breast plate not the full body armor. It was a nice touch by the director to have her wear the full body armor.

What is even more important, this 'giant' aka Spain was so far in debt by the time Phillip II died. I don't see England as being an empire in the movie, and at several points it was stated that the military was in no form for war. Did we see the same movie?

Wasn't there also issues with the spanish ships? Their design wasn't able to cope with the seas in that area, but also their canons, they were able to cope with long range fire not short range - however the English ships were able to manouver better in close range and their canons were better in short range conflict.
I think the Spanish also had huge huge problems with things like proper food and water supplies for the men. I don't even think the English lost one ship in that battle, did they?

Yes very true. The British were nothing and it was the weather that was significant in the defeat. Caesar Augustus had a hard time crossing the Channel when he conquered England with the 14th Legion (From Spain, Ironically) he had to keep on delaying because of the weather. Spain made mistakes but to be just, the Spanish were superior in Army and Navy. England emerged after. Britain fell to America.

I believe this movie half truthful with facts and then not. It really shows and explains in detail how queen Elizabeth planned to rule the throne with such power and strength (it also showed how she does love somewhere in her and wants to be loved in return). One thing I never got straight was someone told me she was a lesbian? Never new the real answer to that or if it was true or not... Cate played her very accurately and formal, I loved this movie to the very core! What a awesome queen...

i am history major and i thought this movie was amazing even though critics gave it horrible ratings. It shows elizabeth's charisma as explained through history(i understand that whoever wins writes history) and the hit major points of what was going on. either way the inquisition was a deterred from what christ teachings, but that was a corrupt time in faith. I thought Cate looke adorable in the armor. In reality, all Queen Elizabeth wore was the breast plate not the full body armor. It was a nice touch by the director to have her wear the full body armor.

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS! Kate Blanchett is a BRILLIANT actress!!! I have never seen her in a bad role. Just from the trailer I can already smell OSCAR for Ms. Blanchett!
