Tai ไทในภาษาลาว means (ppl of a region/community)

where as "Khon คน " is a generic word for people.When Lao ppl say Tai ไท they are referring to a region/community. example

Tai Vieng Chanไท วจ (people from Vieng Chan

Tai Muang Luang(Luang Prabang) Tai Savan(Savanakhet) .The word Siam means dark skin people .Thai means Free it's from Pali. Just like Esan is not lao and siamese words but Sandskrit which means (Northeast) region

@jonahandi2000 lao do hate thai...everything thai do lao people have bad comment for it. just like thai game show lao people say thai try to act all high class. what does that have to do with anything? and lao always have words for everything thai do even tho it have nothing to do with lao. i agree with phon84 because i sit at a lao person house because i am friend with his son. he was watching thai show and all sudden out of no where he said he hate thais? y? because thier having fun? wierd!
