I have four windows computers, the one using Microsoft Security Essentials exclusively (a five year old Dell laptop) hasn't had any virus problems for over a year. The ones using the top paid variety have. If you're shelling out good money to keep your computer gremlin free you are probably wasting some good money. If you have more than one computer try it on the oldest one exclusively and you'll likely see the same result.

Please help me! I have MS Security Essential and Malwarebytes. SE usually never detects anything.(I'm not sure if this is good or bad) and once I got a pop-up from Malwarbytes that said I had 200 some trojans. I went into MWB and scanned and it didn't detect anything. Any suggestions? My compute runs fine and I don't get any screwy pop-ups like some people do from trojans. My PC also runs just as fast as when I got it. Should I be worried?

@xXFr0sty67Xx You probably have a rogue Malwarebytes', unless you purchased it, of course. I've never heard of a rogue Malwarebytes', though......

If your computer IS running fine, just to be safe, do an online scan: housecall. There's a 50/50 chance of it finding your problem, though. Make sure that your MBAM is up to date....I know I'm not an expert, but I hope this helps. :]

I think that if you only go to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, email sites or any other secure site and you don't download anything then you can have this Anti-Virus. But if you download and do other kind of stuff in the Internet, then you'll need the hardcore, more powerful Anti-Viruses out there. The best ones are:

@kidlost123 Is your system still crashing when you run a full scan?.. If so, you need to do a boot time scan. If your program does not have that option disable it and download Avast anti virus, do a boot time scan and it will let you know if you have corrupt files, it will even clean up viruses in this mode. Once It's done, you can choose to keep or delete Avast. I know you posted this a while ago, but know how it is when you can't scan.

@modkipz If you think your pc is infected with something, scan it with malwarebytes then after that`s finished, scan it with Emsisoft Emergency Kit.

You can also try TDSSKiller and combofix if those others don`t fix it.

My older dell desktop with XP and 512ram had norton internet 2011 installed. The computer kept on crashing. I uninstalled the norton poduct and installed security essentials.

Big difference! The computer does not crash and runs faster than when norton was installed.

I use security essentials on two computers, and will install it on my other computer when the cuurent norton subscription has expired.
