is that an original LT4 or just the conversion? I ask b/c I have a 95 firehawk with an LT1 and have thought about doing the LT4 conversion but with a comp cam instead of the hot cam.
@brgable Just a conversion. There are less than 150 F-bodies from the factory with the LT4 engine. The 1997 SS anniversary edition (100) and the 1997 Firehawk (less than 50).
i'm on my 3 trans mount since father's day. guess my 10'" wide tires in the rear hook to well or my mods are too much for the stock type mounts. It has a k&n air filter, full custom exhaust (highflow muffler, highflow cat, 3" pipe) and a shift kit. i still have a missfire i'm chasing even after i replaced the stock optispark with an msd probillit distirbutor. i'll figure it out eventualy, i hope. if i don't i'll sell it and get a 3rd gen, like i want. its a 93 z28 auto w/ G92 option.
After battling with a few oil leaks/ignition issues for the past year on my LT-1....I would gladly switch over to an LS-1 if I could. It has been a reliable motor so far though, pushing 165k miles.
@VetteAholicZ06 LT1 is good for its day... Hard as Hell to diagnose... Sensors are poorly made/deteriate... have a very sweet distinctive sound and have very nice handling as long as u can keep the rubber mounts replaced every 3-5 years... but some of the design flaw's really suck!!! hate buying a distributor anytime the water pump desides to take a crap... cuz to replace both is 750buck stock no warrenty... Rediculous costs to fix :( ...

Torque is what makes the 60ft times or what throws u back when you shift or take off numbnuts...HP is what wins the drag racing, torque spins tires when you take off...HP spins tires at 100mph at the 1/8th mile....LS1 and LT1 blocks handle about the same power actually. The newer iron block 5.3L,6.0L do handle a couple hundred more though...

The LT1 may handle more, but the LS1 is lighter, and makes more HP. this video shows a low compression N/A LS1 vs an S/C LT1...im sure the LS1 wouldve kept up at stock compression
