Tantalum is a Polish production of 5.45 x39 cartridges in the military but are not applied. Were previously used but now używmy AKMS Beryl wz.93 and AKMS is used on the range a lot of weapons such as the AKMS, tantalum is converted into decorative weapons.;)

I just bought one of these bad boys used. It was pretty cheap so i got it. Anyways, the sights on it are kind of messed up, thats about the only problem i can see for now at least. I havnt shot it yet. Are these guns easy to repair and/or cheap? Mine may need a little work on it. I'm not really familiar with this gun.

Is yours a CAI model (century)? I was going to buy one too but heard that there were many problems with the barrels causing the bullets to tumble. I price was right at 350 but a well made one was around 600 at the time.

@ScopedOUT2 Depends who you ask, I have a Century Arms Tantal, obviously thats why Im here, and mine came PERFECT!!!! A lot of people do get crummy guns from Century but I was lucky. Honestly, its hard to say which is best since they are remade when they arrive. These aren't actually AK receivers, they are US made as are the barrels, sights.... At least 6 pieces of the gun must be Made in the USA for the gun to be legal. So for anyone out there who is getting into mods, keep that in mind!!!

AK47 bullet = 7.62x39

AK-74 bullet = 5.45x39

Just a few questions if you don't mind. 1. Are Tantals so unique that the parts are not interchangeable with other AK-74s (e.g. Bulgarian); 2. Do they have Tantal-specific magazines (I noticed you said this one had a German mag), and so magazines are not interchangeable? Thanks.

good questions;

1 - Many parts of the Tantal are unique and won't interchange with other AK74s

2- There are specific mags, but pretty much all AK74 mags fit in all the various AK74 rifles of various countries

yeah the guy who built it must have done something special to the safety because the safety on the Century gun is impossible to use the lever lol
