  • now what i've learned from producing (Mainly Hip Hop) is that you always want to leave your Bass in mono, but putting the Fruity Chorus and Flanger on the channel plugins is almost the same as making it stereo. Correct me if i'm wrong i'm just trying to understand dub step a little better now, but, would it work if I had one 3xosc that had mainly a bass sound as my wobble bass in mono and then another 3xosc for the harmonics in stereo?

  • @KorruptedMinds in FL there's a knob that will force that mixer channel to mono =)

  • bitcrushers are for wussies.

  • Idk if you'll see, but when you're in 3x Osc your C6 is an octave above mine, why?

  • @GDItsMeInTheFlesh change your root note by right clicking =) thats why my C6 sounds higher than your... my root note is probs set to C4 whereas default is C5

  • FKING BRILLIANT TUTORIAL!!!

  • pan or pam?

  • "I don't know. It's hard to explain." Uhh, your making a tutorial dude. It's supposed to explain stuff to us...

  • @Mrmcnevon Why don't you make a video explaining it then smart ass?

  • @lalalaGunit I thought that it was an amazing video. It covered the topics, tried to explain how things worked, and was easy to understand. I commend RedRavenRuler on it. I spoke too soon, and I regret it.

  • I'm having this extremely hard problem, and I know it's a stupid problem but i'm a beginner so bear with me. How do I assign effects to only a certain sound, like putting delay and reverb on ONLY a snare....so frustrating. Everytime I try the whole track gets delayed

  • i already know how to do it but it would be cool if people made tutorials for actual dubby basses like the oldschool shit. i have yet to see a tutorial for one of those on youtube

  • Your awesome, I love you 100%homo

  • do you have to have a midi keyboard for this?

  • @tnucemagehttsoluoy You don't have to no...

  • What skin do you use? :P

  • this is not dubstep

  • @FrostWhite then what is?

  • my Fruity Flanger doesn't only has 3 things in the presents !

    Help !

I want the slight detune !

  • i cant hear any sound with the piano roll or my keyboard with 3xOSC

  • @AliYuseph check out /watch?v=LUqJc76Rv9I there are no tuts because Dubstep has no technique. Its a genre of music based off feeling. You can make it hardcore or real scratchy. Hints the reason I like it because no 2 dubstep tracks should sound exactly the same ever~ so you really just need to go and do it and figure out what works for yourself and stop trying to find where other people do it for you. No offense...

  • um

  • D: i cant find any decent tuts showing how to make proper dubstep wub sounds. i dont want the ear raping ones.

  • Just made a dubstep track and would really appreciate peoples opinions :)

    (I'm no pro)

    /watch?v=iYuPQQ8MwCE

  • What kind of FL Studio is this?

  • @RedRavenRuler I do all the same but it souds like shit, not like in your video. Maybe this is because of old soundcard? Did you turn on some distortion plugins or something?

  • хрень полная

  • it messed up my drums :( how can i make the drums sound normal

  • @SkaterboarderTapsu what are you talking about... just saying IT messed up your drums and giving no details makes it very very difficult to answer you.

  • @RedRavenRuler i mean it made the same thing to the drums, what was supposed to only be in the bass

  • @SkaterboarderTapsu haha you obviously put the effects on the MASTER mixer channel or had your drums routed to the same mixer channel as the bass... simply bring up your drum sounds and in the upper right in the box that says FX click and drag that to what ever mixer track number you want it to be on.

  • @RedRavenRuler with IT i mean the effects to make the bass sound good (the fruity thingys)

  • Are the wobble, bass and melody three completely different elements in dubstep?

  • @zawmbees It depends. You can do Dubstep HOWEVER YOU WANT because that's what this genre was SPECIFICALLY built on =) You can have the wobble follow the sub bass and at the same have it be the main 'melody', or you could have the wobbles just be occasional accents to the sub bass and have a separate synth to do the melody. You could even say fuck a melody and just do bass and beats. It's all up to you =) Now some people may dispute whether what you make is real dubstep but FUCK THEM =)

  • @RedRavenRuler How do I find "kick 2" and "snare 2" and all that ?

    PLEASE answer!

  • Comment removed

  • @Pajjazh im guessing he just picked a kick and snare drum that he liked and renamed it snare 2 and kick 2, so really you just find it by finding some drums you like, the snares in the legacy hip hop are really nice

  • @musicnetwork121 ok, thx ^^

  • before i watch the video, do i need any plugins? i dont wanna buy them :(

  • How'd you get your FL theme to look like that? I'm sure lots of people have asked so please forgive me lol

  • thanks, this has helped alot because ive been trying to find a good way to destort my bassas and thanks 2 this vid i have ty

  • i would have to say your tutorial is the only tutorial that has actually helped me! thnks so much bro great tutorial.

  • @riverdaledubstep Tanks man means a lot. You'll probably like my MUCH newer vids using better synths and what not as well =) the Sytrus tutorials are there if you dont have any external synths but want a beefier bass sound =)

  • @RedRavenRuler but my question is is where did you get your kicks and stuff from that you used? bc i watched the previous video and i couldnt figure it out so i had used another beat

  • Is there a way to make the effects only on the osc and not on everything else? Because I got the sound right, but it fucked up the sound on everything else.

  • @oOobloodymessiahoOo sounds like you put the effects on the master mixer channel... route the 3xOsc to its own mixer track

  • @RedRavenRuler How do you do that? Sorry I just got this program last night.

  • I don't even get the first sound you're doing with 3x Osc, mine is sort of the same but much higher pitched. I've tried to lower the pitch but doesn't help that much. Help please?!

    Nice tutorial btw.

  • I like your skin :)

  • Nice tutorial!

  • @johanlehrian Thanks man =)

  • @nickmcmahan Wrong again. I couldn't have even bought a shitty pair of Beats with the money I used on them. I happened to get an unbeatable deal on them because I'm smart and I researched before I chose which headphones I wanted.

  • You have the same voice of MdL, the Hip Hop producer!

  • @djgiz91 Hahaha I donno whether to take that as a compliment or what but thanks?

  • Your voice only projects through my left earphone.

  • @CerebrumTranceStep yeah I know, sorry I messed up recording the mic that time... It's not to bad though and it does come throught the right channel a little bit but not very much

  • when i do this only one key will play on the piano roll thing? help please

  • @steele1414 when you changed your root note you left clicked instead of right clicking... In 3xOsc go to the "MISC" tab and in the bottom left just above the lil piano click "reset" then change your root note with a RIGHT click =)

  • @RedRavenRuler thanks man worked perfectly (:

  • @steele1414 No worries man I made the mistake myself years ago so it's easy to fix it =P

  • Good shit bro. I've just started jumping into Dubstep to give it a try. Was wondering, could you give a good tutorial on how to make sick Automation with wobbly bass? If you can, I'd greatly appreciate it dude =) Thanks.

    Chat-

  • @Chatlistic I'm not sure if you looked through my videos but I already have several like that up... The Sytrus bass videos and the Bassline Recording one should be what you're after

  • @Adamillionaire123 its mostly on the LEFT channel... i think your speakers are wired backwards man.. and it was a simple mistake its still watchable the FL audio is still balanced... plenty of other have dealt with the mic so its not like you cant watch it.

  • Comment removed

  • Whats your settings for Fruity Soft Clipper?

  • where the fuck is 3xoc or whateva it is

  • @CGinHD at the top new File Edit etc... go Channels > Add One > 3xOsc

  • thankx m8, you really helped me create an awesome hardcore bass-line for my song! :)

  • all of the stuff in the vid, I already knew. I just cant figur out how to change the oscilation.. say from 2 to 4 to 1. aka How to evenly and smoothly accelerate and decelerate the wobble. cheers :D

  • Pretty cool tips. Thanks mate.

  • So I followed all the things you said in this tutorial (which is a great tutorial btw) but my bass has somewhat different sound. Mines more like "wowowowow" instead of what yours sounds like which is more like "wawawawaw". Any suggestions?

  • i dont understand when you say turn osc to a square?? how do you do that

  • @th3flash23 watch my intro to 3xOsc vids they will help... all you do is click the square wav shape though.

  • ok i will :D btw thanks

  • @DeluxeProducer no problem

  • i love you

  • @DeluxeProducer haha thanks? You should watch my newer bass videos though like the Sytrus ones =)

  • can you "make" dubstep with Adobe Soundbooth?

  • @Whitley053 no clue I've never used it... if it can load VST and VSTi plugins and has some sort of MIDI sequencing then most likely.

  • How do you turn x100 on?

  • @wisegirl291 With the knob next to it ... I seriously hope you were kidding with this question.

  • @RedRavenRuler

Haha i actually wasn't.. I was watching the video without actually trying it and like 5 seconds after i posted the comment I got it..

  • @wisegirl291 Oh lol I was like... wow

  • why does your FL look like that

  • @livelifesledge it was a skin i had...

  • Never mind

  • where is course tuning

  • omg thank u

  • @kinglynx no problem man

  • how to get PROPER bass

get massive and plug it in

  • @PensiveIntent this tutorial is meant for people new to producing. Massive is not the end all of synths either by the way. If you're looking for a more in depth look at basses look at my Rob Papen Blue tuts.

  • @RedRavenRuler will do man. just sayin the things you can do with massive are... massive hah

  • @PensiveIntent Lol yeah massive is a good synth but I prefer Blue, a lot more routing options than massive, only thing massive has got on it is the modulation oscillator and the feedback points... and you can make just as big sounds without those two things =)

  • @RedRavenRuler will def check it

  • @PensiveIntent for sure man. I love the FM and RM synthesis options it has with the algorithms. FM8 will most likely be my next soft synth to buy since I'm getting so in to the FM stuff

  • howd you change your step sequencer?..

  • @skatintildawn it's a skin

  • @RedRavenRuler but where do i change skins?

  • @skatintildawn there's tutorials on youtube, or you can google it man. It's pretty simple to figure out

  • thanks !

  • @Miisterkato why would you buy 9 when 10 was released a few days ago? At any rate I use the Fl Studio Signature Bundle (formerly the XXL pack)

  • I prefer Sytrus or NI Massive for wubs. You should too. Massive is beast, just torrent it ;) Youtube taught me Sytrus(wubs, sweeps, plucks, pads, saws, ect.). Still learning Massive.

  • @ChrisCasperrr first of all pirating software is wrong., second this is just meant for beginners who only have fl studio and need a starting point... i prefer rob papen BLUE over massive any day though

  • @RedRavenRuler Many things are wrong but it happens. And I've never heard of BLUE. I might have to check it out.. I want to try Albino3. That's what Rusko uses so I've heard.

  • Nice. Check this --> /watch?v=JNAUnYTI1Hk

  • WUBWUBWUB

  • this is the best tutorial ive seen. thank you a lot

  • SICKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

  • I came here to learn how to do dubstep basslines... But how the FUCK did you get that skin in FL Studio? Which version do you have??

  • where the fuck is part 1

  • @basslineboy1000 the dubstep drums video is part 1 and part 3 is the pads

  • when i try to do it with an edited preset (hard bass) and i try to tie together notes the next wobble starts halfway between the beat being over

  • dude i just wasted 3 hours watchin some guys video who was using big vocab. and it sounded like crap. i could figure it out. i got yours right away! thanks so much man!

  • how do you get your FL studio to look like that? and thanx for the tutorial man

  • niccceeeeeee

  • your a beast!!! thank you!!

  • Im a noob i know lol but whats the BPM you used?? an im getting ppl saying allsorts its confusing the fuck out of me

  • @unborn1980 Try to stick to 140BPM or something. It sounds fine to me.

  • @darkwiz666 thank you :)

  • nice video :-)

  • 1 step.. 2 step.. 3 step.. DUBSTEP

  • On the first day, god gave man...DUBSTEP.

  • very helpful! but i cant even listen to my recording until i buy the real one it says >:/ wtfs up with that

  • @xCrustGrindingVeganx That's The Demo Version For You Bahah

You Shouldn't Be Able Too Save Either..

  • @xCrustGrindingVeganx That's The Demo Version For You

You Shouldn't Be Able Too Save Either..

  • really good tutorial dude. but the sound still sounds a little bit noobish. not 2 b harsh or anythin

  • @max0ruk i mean you're not going to get aphex twin sounds outta 3xosc unless you layer the shit outta them and do a lot of re-sampling...

  • @RedRavenRuler For just 3xosc and the stuff that comes with fruity loops the sound is great.

  • Really helpful! thanks man. a lot of other tutorials have either expensive plug ins or just arent very good. yours is a free easy way to make dubstep! this is awesome! thanks bro

  • dude I cannot tell you how freaking useful this was. I love you... in a non gay way :)

  • all works fine for me, except the sound is so loud or distorted that the kicks and stuff dont sound over it. what am i doing wrong? thanks for the upload :)

  • do you have a lisp? cos it sounds like it (not bad thing) i wanna have a lisp!

  • Why not use a Roland SH-101 and do it live?

  • @papakilatube Not everyone has $500 to drop on a hardware synth, and because there's more than one way to do everything... Why watch this video if that's all you were going to say?

  • @RedRavenRuler whoops. sorry. just askin. in my case i found an sh-101 in the garbage while i paid 50 bucks for FL. so i ask, is there any advantage for me to learn how to do this on FL, as opposed to playing around with my sh-101? Anyhow, thanks for the tutorial.

  • @RedRavenRuler proper reply. nuff said.

  • c6 is the only note that plays for me in 3xosc. I did everything the same as in the video. i dont know what i'm not doing right.

  • @OfficialBHM sounds like you left click above the c6 when you need to right click... try again and right click this time

  • how do you tune the bass an octave down

  • this is a good tutorial ! CHECK MY HIP HOP BEATS IN FL9 ! THANKS

  • thx,man!

  • 1:05 Can someone tell me how to change from C5 to C6 :S

  • @nilsodor right click in the little bar above the keyboard over c6 =)

  • What do you mean by change oscillator 1 to a square? Sorry, im new at this.

  • @whymze You gotta click on the square pattern on one of the boxes in Oscillator 1 =]

  • not bad. easy to do. But i liked your turorial:)

  • what version of fl is this and where can you get it in the stores?

  • how do you make it wobble at varied speeds?

  • This is, like he said, basic. It could be improved on A LOT, so...

its a good starter though nice.

  • omg that sounds awful, use a proper vst

  • 3:24 THE TIME (DIRTY BIT) beat

  • @ProjectRaiz just right-click the speed and say "Link to piano roll" :)

  • Sickkkkkkkkkk

  • then u can link it to ur midi in fl and wheel it out

  • im pritty sure ive done everthign at the beggining to make the wobble but it just isnt get tht extra bit of boost yours is!!

  • thanks it realy helped!!!

  • I didn't konw americans listen to dubstep, hmmm

  • @vscottii yeah man it's really isolated though. Austn , Texas has one of the biggest dubstep scenes in the states.

  • Which instrument did you use for the bass?

  • @ispiddly its called 3osc (3 oscillators)... go play with fruity loops now!!!

  • @javier7high Thanks man, I just couldn't find it, but I finally did :D

  • God finally found out the PROPER way how to do this..

  • @GiveSomeAdvice there really is no proper way, i mean dubstep doesn't even have to have a wobble bass in just most of it these days does, you can also use a pitch lfo in combination with the cutoff lfo to get a Coki- Spongebob effect

  • @RedRavenRuler true, but there are beter ways even.

Doesn't mean the true fact that this video, the person behind this wanted to show it the most easiest ways.

Ofcourse more "shit" is needed. But this is a good way to start it.. Final lol.

  • I can't get the timing down. Can you please be specific on the time in which to start and stop the wobs?

  • @HeavenlyRa if i understand correctly your talking abut the actual creation of the bassline and that is totally up to the producer to decide there's no right way to do it so long as it sounds good

  • @HeavenlyRa To get timing 'down' you need another plugin in combination with the sound/speed" It is buildin within FL basics. If you are truely intrested I can show you how its done:). If i still remember the old ways thats is.

    Ah well, let me know.

  • @trancelistic PLEASE DO!

  • @HeavenlyRa MY MAN TIMING IS SO IMPORTANT, ITS MORE MENTAL. IF YOU DONT GOT THE VIBE ITS GOING TO BE A LONG JOURNEY BOSS

  • so ive been makin some good sounding wobbles on toxic and 3xosc but i cant figure out how to make them like wuoooow wuooow ya know there so edgy. any advice?? great video btw

  • @upthetempo4dub you asking how to make them like the "talking wobles" Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, and Trolley Snatcha use? If so a Formant Filter is what your looking for ... KVR Audio [dot] com has a HUGE search database for freeware and payware VST =) if you're asking about something else please be more specific and I'll try to help
