@crazytacostudios save the 305 for a little hot rod you want to look and sound good. Go get a 350 to put your time and money into simply because it's easier and more cost effective. 305's move, but you gotta put some cash into them and know what you're doing...it's all about the science when your jackin up a 305. 350's get going with some mere bolt ons, let alone real head work and things like that.
305 is good for a mild application, but not cost effective. For less money you can build a 350, plus the 305's smaller piston limits valve size. You could however be slick and drop a 400 crank in one to make a 334 and have one seriously torquey 305 =)

@nswafforn Seeing as most Monte Carlos came with 350s, the bolt pattern for 305s and 350s are identical, or should be. But in general, yes, this motor should fit in an 80 Monte Carlo.

@slickss85 isnt this guys engine a built engine? yes well think about a crate engine, around 4-8,000$ so i think 5,000 is a good price considering he built that himself and think of the price of all of the parts and the machine work he put into that.
I'd say $750 is a very good price for that motor. I have 2 trucks both with the same engine as this, and the engines have been very reliable and powerful. $750 for this engine with this amount of work put into it is a great price.

@zamic0 small blocks produce more power at higher rpm's and most of the time don't have a lot of torque like from 6,000-8,000 ..Big Blocks produce more power and torque on lower rpm's like from 2,500-6,000..for instance my 1968 camaro has a zz502 big block in it I can be in 3rd gear at 45mph and holled it to the floor and burn the tires up...my uncle's 67 with a small block 350 will not start doing burnout till almost 5,500 rpm..mine leaves a long ass burout on take-off.

well, i believe that the 92 Z28 camaros came with either TBI or tuned port injection LT1 blocks with reverse water flow rotation, but to answer your question, yes it would fit

@nswafforn Seeing as most Monte Carlos came with 350s, the bolt pattern for 305s and 350s are identical, or should be. But in general, yes, this motor should fit in an 80 Monte Carlo.

lol....the 305 was a gas saver v8, and the 350 is the power house....why build a 305 when you can build a 350 for the same price, theres no replacement for displacement

dude..why a 305? they really suck at life.....327,350,400 are still around for the same money and overall power and performance make that thing show its true color as a real weak engine..a stock 327 would make the person with the 305 cry at how bad he got whipped

@67ovette put the same parts on the a 350 then and see how well the 305 does then? you could put a set of heads on 350 and some intake work , and you could smoke a 427? obviously if you modify theres gonna be more power than a stock 350?

I'd say $750 is a very good price for that motor. I have 2 trucks both with the same engine as this, and the engines have been very reliable and powerful. $750 for this engine with this amount of work put into it is a great price.

@zamic0 small blocks produce more power at higher rpm's and most of the time don't have a lot of torque like from 6,000-8,000 ..Big Blocks produce more power and torque on lower rpm's like from 2,500-6,000..for instance my 1968 camaro has a zz502 big block in it I can be in 3rd gear at 45mph and holled it to the floor and burn the tires up...my uncle's 67 with a small block 350 will not start doing burnout till almost 5,500 rpm..mine leaves a long ass burout on take-off.

That is correct. When under load, the bottom end is
most likely to fail, even at idle.
In fact, lugging an engine, under load, is more stressful
than revving an engine in neutral (provided you don't redline for
too long).

well, i believe that the 92 Z28 camaros came with either TBI or tuned port injection LT1 blocks with reverse water flow rotation, but to answer your question, yes it would fit
