  • x3 it's so catchy! The lyrics are adorable in a really odd, unexplainable way. Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • I reckon this is the funniest and best version, although Louis Armstrong did a good job too. But he missed the rhytm section like Marius had.

  • "Golden Wonder, they're jungle fresh". That advert was my introduction to this song.

  • "Golden Wonder, they're jungle fresh"

  • My grandfather, Frederick Murray Barley, played with this band in the 30's. Does anyone have any photographs of them I wonder, or know of any relatives/descendants o f Frederick?

    Gillian

  • This song is great, I also sang it in my choir.

  • looks like al bolley

  • For some reason, I love this version - perhaps because it's so 'British'. None of the singers makes any attempt to sing in anything but a BBC RP accent, a light Noel Coward-esque tenor. It also helps that the quality of the recording is excellent for the period. Those boys could swing!

  • Some genius has removed the version by Anacani. Somebody else put it up on YouTube please.

  • Kostgian, thanks for your comments. I agree....Perez Prado is very good with this piece. Xavier Cugat does a fine version of it too.

  • For the BEST version of this find "Anacani" and "The Peanut Vendor" on YouTube...it's by FAR the best I've heard...and she's a knock out too.

  • i understg the love for anacani...really its stunning.and i love her me too so much...but for this specialy song the best version by far is perez prado,s one.......

  • For some people: El Manisero (The Peanut Vendor) music and lirics by Moises Simon Rodriguez, born in Cuba. Rita Montaner was first singer. My colection is now 665 versions: from spanish to japanese, chinese, etc.

  • lol i like peanuts....

this song makes me want some.... hang on.... here are some, yum yum

    *munches in background*

  • This British Version is Great for Moses Simmons' Masterpiece. Thank you for your generosity, Worth Five Stars.

  • beautiful sweet voice

  • great nostalgic voice........

  • Wow, this song is much older than I though.

I've heard this in Spanish. Is the original English or Spanish? (being a Rumba I'm prone to think it comes from Latin-America). Do we know who composed it originally?

    Thanks for the upload.

  • Antonio Machin was the orignal singer from cuba

they came to the usa in 1930 it was a hit wihth that song

  • Terrific version of this excellent Rumba. I had this record as a young boy but it broke. Thank you so much for bringing back memories of my childhood.
