Bourdain also persuaded me to visit Osaka last year. Visiting Osaka first, allowed me to see more of Japan, the differences geographically, etc. Allowed me to ride the bullet train from Osaka to Kyoto, and then on to Tokyo. Each city was well worth a trip and we were able to sample the unique cusine of each area!

I've lived in Japan for years... This is a really good story... I respect Bourdain and his producers highly. The really captured the spirit. I made takoyaki once. Hurts like hell until you master the flip!!!

love this video. Osaka is my fav city in japan:) But finally it make sense, shonin (marchant) was categorized as low class, makes people very down to earth, simple and fun loving despite having money... and most accepting of expats.

Japan is pretty cool..EXPENSIVE!! Train travel costs a ton..cheap hotels are available, if you don't need space..Booze...wow..you can drink $100's in a night.

Try Taiwan,..much cheaper..same vibe.
