Has anybody seen a 4cyl. engine pushing 8,000 HP? No didn't think so. And more cylinders does mean stronger, less compression = less likely to break. These 4cyl. boys will learn one day...
The ricer got a small jump and the vette blew by him. No replacement for displacement. The little 4 bangers can never generate the torque need to race that is why most are running AWD to compensate for the lack of torque.

AWD cars have less torque to the wheels then the FWD cars because AWD takes more power and torque to move. making a 12 sec 4 cyl isnt that hard and neither is an 11 second you can take an eg hatch drop in a k20 and tune it and do weight reduction and run 11s. you can boost it also. you can boost a DSM into the 11s with just a turbo.

Taking a hatch and doing a K20 motor swap and weigh reduction is a major upgrade how many people can easily do that adding a turbo is simple a motor swap is not... As for just booting a DSM to get into the 11's without upgrading the motor with stronger connecting rods is not smart the motor will not last to many runs. That is why you see many videos of I4's blowing up.

And your wrong about DSMs even the 7bolt can run 11s on a stock bottom end but a 6bolt can handle those power levels no problem people have pushed them to 500+hp I can show you videos of v8s blowing up. It will blow up stock is not made for constant full throttle action at double the engines rated HP. The guy I know at work upgraded his lower end with forged pistons just for insurance to be safe. Bigger turbo means more fuel as well as air which means bigger explosion in the chamber. Not even the Japs are going to over engineer their motors that much it's not cost effective

And btw Japan does make alot of econonmy motors but they do make race bred motors look ath the rb26 in the skyline and the 2jz in the supra nuff said so your wrong japan does engineer their motors and the 4g63 is one of them it was bread for racing and put in galant vr4s dsms evos andn it can handle alot of power do your research

Not to mention that a grassroots guy who builds his own stuff would never take the chance on a stock motor by putting a huge turbo on it to produce 100% or more power to the motor unless he is a redneck and has more money than brains. Any educated mechanic or mechanically inclined person would up grade the lower end and pistons to handle the HP they are wanting to achieve. My bike has forge pistons and strong connecting rods but is only rated for an extra 50% more HP.
@numba1netsfan You are full of it. I own a Kawasaki ZRX and have it turbo'd. I was told don't put more than 8 to10 psi to it with out motor upgrades. You're talking a motorcycle with damn near race ready motor. Stock it produces about 120 to the wheel I can run 200+ to the wheel at the10 PSI. But I run 6 to 8 psi just to be safe. No chance will a stock DSM handle double the HP for long it will blow up someday! I'd say sooner than later. Short burst won't hurt much but everyday hammering noway!!!

I somehow don't think most of you have a grasp on just how much power this vette is putting out. It's a Lingenfelter vette, some of those babies have been known to put out over 720hp. I never said any of the current production 4cylinders could be a base model corvette stock. they can beat other v8s in the quarter like the pre 2011 mustang gt and the new camaro etc. I never had an argrument I stated a fact that there are 4cyls that can make safe power levels that are enough to beat corvettes and ive proven it. Its also very easy to make a dsm or evo run low 12s. So you have a good one to!

This is a Rippie Package Z51 (Hints Z51R), probaly pushing about 380rwhp and probaly runs high 12 in the quarter. The Camera car is not a 13 second car I guarantee.

I somehow don't think most of you have a grasp on just how much power this vette is putting out. It's a Lingenfelter vette, some of those babies have been known to put out over 720hp. I don't think any amount of "425hp" evo or sti would lay a finger on this thing. you kind of need something called torque which japanese cars notoriously lack.
