I got mine off yesterday feb 13th and it hurt mostly when she removed them in the front but other than that it was all good....because this is day 1 of my retainer my mouth is so soar and had a little bit of hard time speaking but hey it will get better :) and I'll just have to deal with the pain of my retainer!

I promise you. I was crying when they said that i had to get braces. Even had to correct my overbite with a forsus. It hurt, a lot, sometimes. But it was just because my dentist wasn't so good at "snipping" the ends of the metalthread (don't know what it's called). I still have my braces, and I've had them for 2 years the 17'th of January. BUT, Now I'm soon going to take them off. And it is TOTALLY worth it! (also, you get used to them quick!)

@121J35532 no, in fact my tongue just rests on it. it's fun to just rub your tongue on it and stuff. i'm probably going to get one on the top, too. because it's less of a hassle, (than using the actual clear retainer.) and actually no, i much prefer spending my free time as an aquatic sea mammal.

ahh i get mine off in January. Got them on my freshman year (junior now) in November. im more than ready to get them off! whoa!!! unfortanute part about my story is my orthodontist tightened them every other month, so it took twice as long. your teeth look sooooo pretty! hows the retainer going?

@Rawrghmoo thank you so much,. i got mine on my 8th grade year and got them off my sophomore year. and the tightening thing SUCKS! it's bad enough that it hurts afterward, but worse that you had to wait even longer! i'm so sorry, ha. and the retainer's swell. i just start wearing them at night now, instead of all the time. there's no point. but there is an extremely noticable difference if i go without my retainer for a day or two, i can feel my teeth have shifted. but good luck to you!

@LioeIe the retainers do not rub against or irritate my gums at all. i've gotten in a bad habit of messing with them with my tongue and taking them off of my teeth, hence the gagging. the molds were very quick and not as bad as everyone says. after she took off my bottom brackets, she immediately took a mold, then immediately after taking my top braces off she took a mold. it did not take long to wait for the retainers to be finished. i'd say ten minutes max.
