I actually can suggest if you like a bustle, I've actually been working on designs for detachable bustles (slightly mock since this are made to be able to go over jeans as well as skirts) But its easy to make if you'd like to try your hand at it.
@littlepoet257 I personally suggest places like Etsy or even DeviantArt, there are a number of artists there who offer clothing and accessories commissions. Of course, you could always make your own, which is what I do ;D
you need a photo for the locket even if it is a xerox of an old photo from an history book or encyclopedia, gotta have a black and white photo in there.
@SaraHenya369 I am an actual steampunk person, i wear this sort of stuff in public i also make real steampunk weapons like pyro gloves and wrist guns which i do actually use for self defense if i have to, i also have a stun glove, if you can please give me some more ideas for stuff to make i would appreciate it.
A bustle is really really easy to make. I found a simple tutorial that males it really cheap too! =D Type in how to make a bustle and find th eone from CRAFTOVISION it should be like the 3rd one down. Hope I helped. =D
you are SO pretty! would it be possible to find out where you got the corset? if you made it, would a tutorial be possible? i love your outfit so! ^_^
As a historian major, it looks to be that the Steampunk style looks like early 1900s because the clothing. Is impossible that Steampunk if from 1980s.
@onlynameavalible The term 'Steampunk' was first given to the new genre of sci-fi novels appearing around the 70's and 80's that had a historic rather than futuristic setting, usually the Victorian era and inspired by the sci-fi of Jules Vernes and H.G. Wells. Sci-fi had already been overdone and authors were trying something different. Consider it the polar opposite of Cyberpunk; regressive rather than progressive. The fashion craze followed on from there.
@Rickyrab Yep, or Moorcock's 'The Warlord of the Air' or Harrison's 'A Transatlantic Tunnel, Hurrah'. They were all sci-fi novels that dealt with alternative histories/technologies set mainly around the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. The Steampunk art and fashion phenomenon followed on from there. I should probably also mention the amusing description a friend recently gave to me regarding Steampunk fashion however. They said it was "When Goths discovered brown".
