Great interview. How it it turn out for these two? Did they beat the record? 20 miles a day was enough for me, I can't imagine doubling that consistantly.
That's priceless video there. As one who is GOING to do the PCT, this is inspiration, not just the accomplishment of the PCT, but doing it properly, respectfully, class.
Scott is a legend. He's probably hiked more miles on the PCT than any other human. And what he didn't tell you in this interview - he's done 2 yo-yo hikes of the trail - south to north and back again in one hiking season.
Madness, sheer madness, and I say that with the greatest of respect. :-) I did SOBO A.T. last year, and 51 miles for the Four State Challenge was more than enough for me (stupidest thing I've ever done). Repeating sixty times carrying way more water is just amazing. Hats off, and maybe when I get around to hiking the PCT (cross-country bike trip, college loans, and making a good stab at at least a frugal retirement take precedence for a few years) I'll see them out there sometime.
40 miles a day. Respect.

A man starts in Campo. A hairy sasquatch crosses the Canadian border 2,658 miles later.

The supported runner's record means nothing to me.

@kidballistic It definitely means nothing to a real backpacker but I give the runner credit for doing it in whatever method one can.

The PCT is great for riding the dirtbike on its so open without any hikers at all.

@MrKixbxer Yup. They beat it :). Scott is going to try and beat his record, AGAIN. Adam is producing a video of their last year's hike, last I heard.

Great job! Glad to hear the record is held by backpackers again and not a marathon runner. Good job again guys.
