  • I tend to agree with Collettestevie, but the fact is that Maurice and Josephine collaborated numerous times, and were good friends. some things happened with Maurice that made him questionable, therefore they each took Jabs at each other. but in the end who is to know what really happened between the two of them?

  • That´s NOT true. Chevalier in fact did perform on Broadway in the late 20s and he chose an all black orchestra from Harlem (I think it was Duke Ellington) to play his songs. It was the first time a white entertainer performed on Broadway with a black orchestra! Josephine Baker was angry when Chevalier left her and accused him (falsely!!!) to collaborate with the Nazis. What Josephine Baked did, was very, very "small". German Marlene Dietrich defended Chevalier!

  • Yuk! Chevalier was highly prejudiced. The great Josephine Baker referred to him as "a very small person". I'm surprised to see him with a Puerto Rican. Chita is a national treasure!
