Ok, I think I know what's going on here. The Constitution is based on Locke who was a contract theorist. What many conservatives don't realize is that contract theory (and thus the Constitution by extension) isn't based on natural law. In fact contract theory is based on rejecting natural law. Now the neocons are big on a guy named Strauss who championed natural law -hence the conflict. Most conservatives (including Paul) believe in natural law. It's just they haven't thought through this yet.

Well the trouble is that he was influenced enough by the contract theory atmosphere (his model still is a contract theory afterall) that it is what allowed for all of the crazy stuff after the 60's. Abortion or socialist-type programs for example would not have been as likely without the contract theory component built into Lockean theory. Locke didn't mean bad by it, but it was a natural outgrowth that he probably couldn't have foreseen.

So based on the post on natural law and contract theory what's going on here is that Paul is noticing the neocons breaking the rules that are based on contract theory so as to enact rules that are based on natural law.
Only being a paleolibertarian he wrongly associates Lockean contract theory with natural law -not realizing the two conflict. So when notices the neocons ignoring contract theory he gets his underwear in a bundle, but not realizing what they are doing in terms of natural law.
Now just for reference there are some liberals who assume that the founders dispensed with natural law based on the fact that the Constitution does not incorporate natural law. However the Declaration IS based on natural law -but this is something they tend to forget.

I believe Glenn Beck would endorse Ron Paul as president, if it weren't for Beck's fear that Paul might not interfere enough in Israel. Gary Johnson is just a younger version of Dr. Paul & I hope he is chosen for VP (though I doubt that will happen) because it would give Gary a good foothold in DC & get the nation used to seeing his face.
The changes that need to be implemented in our nation are going to take longer than 4 or even 8 years to accomplish, so we have to get Dr. Paul in, but keep our eyes to the future as well.
I have never heard anyone successfully engage Ron Paul in debate. Logic and reason always prevails among the rational. The truly pathetic resort to calling him a moron. But, to those who love slavery and totalitarianism, be happy, you are winning, Pauls out of the race.

We teach our kids (to be self sufficient) from their 1st step, to their 1st word, to when they go onto college... My trouble with Ron Paul supporters is that in many cases they are acting against their own best interest. I don't know if anyone realized this, but the ideology of the neocons is essentially left-wing means to right-wing ends. Ok, I think I know what's going on here. The Constitution is based on Locke who was a contract theorist. What many conservatives don't realize is that contract theory (and thus the Constitution by extension) isn't based on natural law. In fact contract theory is based on rejecting natural law. Now the neocons are big on a guy named Strauss who championed natural law -hence the conflict. Most conservatives (including Paul) believe in natural law. It's just they haven't thought through this yet.

But he is noted for, yes, having an impact on the founders, though and although its not competety tied into the contract theorist atmosphere. Well the trouble is that he was influenced enough by the contract theory atmosphere (his model still is a contract theory afterall) that it is what allowed for all of the crazy stuff after the 60's. Abortion or socialist-type programs for example would not have been as likely without the contract theory component built into Lockean theory. Locke didn't mean bad by it, but it was a natural outgrowth that he probably couldn't have foreseen.

So based on the post on natural law and contract theory what's going on here is that Paul is noticing the neocons breaking the rules that are based on contract theory so as to enact rules that are based on natural law.
Only being a paleolibertarian he wrongly associates Lockean contract theory with natural law -not realizing the two conflict. So when notices the neocons ignoring contract theory he gets his underwear in a bundle, but not realizing what they are doing in terms of natural law.
