As an ATT customer I think they're doing the right thing here....it's not there fault that Apple keep coming out with a new iphone every year or even before that....I think it's honorable what they're doing and they'll be abel to satisfy alot more Iphone 3G users that are just a month or so shy of ther upgrades....maybe not everyone but alot more by making an extension.

Yes you can keep your voice plan, no you can not keep the data plan you have unless if it is a smart phone data plan which is $30. and yes you can keep the same sms plan.

For all existing iPhone users, the 3GS should be $199 for the 16gb and $299 for the 32gb. I think they would see a ton more like that. Basically at&t wants everyone to pay a crazy amount for features that should've been on the original iPhone.

No. What they're saying is that if you want a 3gs you can get a standard upgrade for the standard upgrade price. Which will be 299 or 399 depending on if you get a 16 or 32 gig.

if verizon does which i doubt it is definatly not "by far". i have an iphone and the screen stopped working. so i called and i talked to a person who actually spoke good english (very hard to find when calling most customer services) and was very nice and knew exactly what was going on and it was very fast and easy for apple to send another one. for free.

I have an iphone on at&t and a verizon samsung phone. Without a doubt my at&t has much better coverage everywhere I go. Right now in my room I have 2 bars on Verizon and full coverage on at&t. You don't know what you're talking about. Also there is no coverage in the midwest with verizon. I stayed in MO for a week and there was no service.

The iPhone 3GS is about 2 times faster than the 3G, it has a better camera, a built-in compass, and a longer battery life among other things.

If you have a 3G already, I don't recommend the upgrade. But if you don't, then the 3GS is the way the go.

i think this is cause the iphone 3gs isnt that big of an upgrade from the iphone 3g and they want to bank in on the hype it will have when released. It's funny you say that because I'm still not actually sure yet. But the biggest reason why I have my doubts on the 3GS (or just the iPhone it total) is because of AT&T. They don't cover 3G here, the Palm Pre does (Sprint). Could someone tell me if you still get great internet service and all of the online services from Apple without 3G? Because it sounded like you NEED 3G for great internet service on the go. This is really crucial to my decision. I need great internet on the go.

If I were Apple, I would just have the 3.0 firmware have all the new features the iPhone 3GS has. If jailbreaking your iPhone 3G lets you be able to take videos, Apple could just get the creator of Cycorder or the other video camera app from Cydia to develop a better one or buy it off him.
