  • im lingit and gwitchin im from atlin bc and i love this video

  • I heard the language has a very complex phonology, very intresting

  • I want to learn one language in my lifetime that nobody else knows, that is endangered. I love life, languages are alive, I want to keep them alive. I'm an American from Alabama, but I want to learn Tlingit.

  • Nihizaad t'óo ayóó nizhoniyéé!

  • haglaa....

  • this is pretty neat

  • Thank you so much. I might suggest that instead of saying "The next time we go into a clan house we will speak only Lingít" to "we will speak as much Lingít as we can" or "we will speak more Lingít than we have before." By making this "only" you might discourage those who can't speak much from coming. An idea: stories from Lingít culture (in audio, video, and text format) in several versions: all English, English with Lingít glosses, Lingít with English glosses, all Lingít.

  • Khunaxh yak'ei aya!

This is very good! It has improved since I first saw it last semester in Dick and Nora's Lingit Linguistics class. Jason please tell Linda that she created a wonderful piece and I would love to see many many more of these!

    Gunalcheesh,

    Amanda

  • I went to a seminar last year on preserving the Tlingit language. (I live in Juneau, AK) What they said really impressed me. The speakers pointed out that to preserve a language not only means remembering how it was spoken centuries ago but it also means adapting it to present day situations. It's not enough to be able to talk about fishing and berry picking in Tlingit, for the language to survive you also have to be able to talk about changing a baby's diaper or playing basketball.

  • i fell in love with a tlingit woman. she does not like me at all and she hurt me. but i still love her. I looked at her and saw the light from a star that shone from thousands and thousands of years ago. she opened my eyes. it was the most spiritual thing that has ever happened to me. she affected me like no man or woman ever has. she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole entire life. she hurt me badly but I can not stop loving her because of what I saw when I looked at her

  • I'm on the same boat

  • amd still u never learned her language, how sad dude

  • I am Tlingit do they have any language cd rom software to learn Tlingit I want to revive the Tlingit language

  • This is a great story!
