  • Now I'm very proud to learn Shotokan^^

  • I don't care what you guys all say but Karate is from Kung Fu origin of Hung Gar. Read the founder of Karate and what it means. Open hand form.

  • @TheHailstorm77 You are right but its not completely all Kung Fu they thought each other martial art moves.

  • I love shotokan too, but they need more technical skills!

  • 12 people got their ass kicked by shotokan masters

  • ufc is just people hitting each other, it takes discipline to learn how to defend and strike and break not just hit other people in the head and hope that you hit harder than they do

  • @ShotokanBleach Exactly pal, but i do love Lyoto Machida :D

  • The front kick is one of the very few true native kicks to karate. These other kicks should not be practiced. Once you become good with the front kick, no other kick is needed.

    Maegeri

  • @CentredOne That's like saying you only need one block or one punch.

  • @Mgopro Yes, why would you need more?

  • @CentredOne To block different attacks, and to attack different ways.

  • @CentredOne Front kick is the only one you need? Round house, side, back, low--none of these are needed? What about when your opponent side steps a few degrees?

  • @TKDLION why is rotating slightly not an option?

  • @CentredOne Rotating slightly? It's possible but not desirable. It would take too long. Front kick is not a versatile kick. You would have to rotate and then execute the kick. You've likely been swept by this point. If they shift 90+ degrees you had better have something else in your arsenal.

  • God bless you Kase Sensei. You will be missed.

  • Katas are stupid..

  • @CRAMERR69 I get upset when people say that. Katas form the basis of whatever freestyle/sparring we do in shotokan karate, all through the bunkai`s we take frrom them, so I dont get why anybody would say katas are stupid. its only stupid if you`re waving ur arms n legs around without knowing what you`re actually doing. its like saying grammar is stupid. is it? you wouldnt be able to speak without it, and yet somehow its stupid. ?!!!!

  • @melikab

I understand how you feel, and I was merely making an opinion that I don't like Kata's, when I trained, I did them to pass the belt tests, and they do help create a perfect technique. I have never scrapped with anyone whether training - in the military - in real life where it is not a completely spontaneous action/reaction.

Just expressing my opinion is all and you are entitled to yours.

    Peace

    ~R

  • @melikab Good analogy

  • 1:25 always the fucking baby!

  • Well you are correct , Rampage was lucky to win - I watched the video and I have to agree UFC is becoming the new boxing very fast

  • totally out of synch lol

  • It's cool to see my comment again :D Now I have a brown belt = san kyu ^^

  • And so do I

  • Machida tried that in MMA and lost last week

  • @misakisheraz lost last week huh....funny. last i remember rampage got his ass beat and machida left the ring without any cuts or bruses. and only lost because of points from a few painless tags by wolf man's boxing.

    gruss Karatetom1

  • Das soll, The very best of Shotokan sein ?.Naja.

  • @karatetom1

Kannst du was besseres machen? Ich warte auf dein Video!

  • @IEKUKATAKA

Your comment is affected by over-simplification. You apply syllogism to discussion but modern logic moved way beyond Aristotle long time ago!

  • @sroedner OWNED! IEKUKATAKA -1 , SROEDNER +9001

  • @sroedner your problem with his comment lies not in his reasoning, but in the truth of his premises. Premise 1: "Shotokan is a sport" is false. Premise 2 "Sports are not martial arts" is false, unless he means "not all sports are martial arts" (which won't get his conclusion, so he probably didn't mean it). The modus ponens form is so/so, but it only guarantees true conclusions if the premises are true. And they're not.

  • @sroedner touchet =P

  • @sroedner are you dumb dude? shotokan is to karate my dad took it and he never lost a fight dude UFC is a sport so stfu and learn your facts dude

  • @IEKUKATAKA

what a hell are you talking about?

  • @IEKUKATAKA

In my opinion competitions won by points or "whose kata looks better"-matches turn it into a sport. I would not call Shotokan itself a sport.. it comes down to the way you train and what you strive for.

  • @IEKUKATAKA But Shotokan was one of the first four original styles of karate. So how is it not karate?

  • @IEKUKATAKA i dont get wat ur saying. shotokan karate is a martial art since it has both defensive and offensive elements incorporated and it aims to protect the individual. it is also a codified system, as any martial arts discipline is. Its also a combination of several Okinawan and other martial arts. However, since most people dont need to use it in combat situations nowadays, it can also be a sport, hence we have competitions and championships. Shotokan also originates from Okinawa.

  • @IEKUKATAKA

theres always someone on here trying to cut down someone elses art. everyone is such a martial arts expert on here. while we're all at it, I guess I'll throw on my 2 cents. I think shotokan is a real martial art, whereas I dont feel the UFC is.

  • @IEKUKATAKA

Shotokan is much more than a sport.

  • @sprskm It's not a sport, It's a Karate, BJJ and MMA are sports. This is indeed much more than just a little "sport."

  • @TheAngelsDecay whats wrong with sports? the sports martial arts are the most effective anyway i think

  • @IEKUKATAKA How can you say martial arts are not sports

  • @IEKUKATAKA Shotokan Karate is not a sport, Point Karate or Semi-Contact Kickboxing are sports, this things come from some aspect of Shotokan Karate, but is not the Shotokan essence. Shotokan essence is Knock down a oponent with a single strike, and the praticioner trains to do this, everthing that dont ilustrate this thought is not Shotokan Karate..
