The lower tank is 120cm 52cm 35cm.It is fed by a reserve tank below now that contains a cooling coil and heaters for winter with a volume of 150 liters.
This set-up was a temporary arrangement before relocating.
The fish like entering the tunnel and often spend the nights "hanging" from the top upside-down.
This was the 3rd. glass tunnel I built.I got a price for cutting the side panels on a CNC programmable cutter. This would reduce 4 of the connections.Very expensive.Of course clear acrylic or perspex is an option but it does scratch easily.
My oldest tunnel is now 8 years old and still cleans up well.
It is a bit tricky assembling. The best glass worker in my city who does build aquariums would not give me a price for assembly. They will cut the glass at a very reasonable price.
I use this concept in my outdoor goldfish pond. (see Fish Observatory) Using a more simple design, it is easy to clean the algae off of the Acrylic that I used. Since it is very smooth, the algae just wipes off. Need to do the cleaning about every 2-3 weeks. Fish love exploring.
I thought I'd try Google Translate for a reply to that comment in French.
It reads:" As you can see the bottom aquarium is ample for a goldfish this size.No one is forcing the fish through the tunnel.Fish are naturally inquisitive and choose to "explore".In fact this tunnel does not connect to a second aquarium as my other system does.
But then "The Frogs" were never keen on tunnels!"
If that last phrase seems a little derogatory, the comment in French begins "This is stupid!
hi i been thinking about doing something similar to this but just as a disply not a feeding area. the glass you use, is it thiker than your usually aquarium glass and do you need to join it in any particular way to hold the strain?
When these tanks are first set-up, even with "matured" water from another aquarium, there is no algae on the glass, no pigment to the water but if you look in the little boxes on the side you can see air "trapped" .

That's really cool, but the tank is far too small for a goldfish. Please move the poor guy into a bigger home.

It was a JOKE!
I am linking another video to show the test tank that was converted to this one.
Betas might possibly take to the small glass boxes but I don't keep betas.

I am pretty sure that is a gold fish and not a betta

That isnt a siamese fighter fish. More of a goldfish
SparkleGrl123 5 months ago 2
Siamese fighters build "bubble-nests" on the surface for their young.

what is a bubble nest?
Coolso3 6 months ago
@Coolso3 it's the nest a fish makes out of bubbles so when they mate the eggs float to the bubble nest

lol such a clumsy big fish. he's beautiful though :)
TheBlondebabe19 1 year ago
how do you make that?
Moroboi 1 year ago
1/4inch glass is enough for a tunnel 40 inches long by 6inches square.
Cleaning all joints with alcohol or acetone and wearing grubber loves is very important.
