  • There are so many mistakes in this movie...

  • the Maccabees led Israel to victory against the Greeks and Macedonians aka. Alexander the Great. NOT THE SYRIANS! I wonder if the director/writers even looked at a bible before producing this.

  • @andyinvietnam Your confusion stems from being unaware that the Greeks/Hellenists against whom the Maccabees/Hasmonaens fought in the 2nd century BCE were based in Syria and are usually called "Greek Syrians" or Seleucid Greeks.

Alexander the Great ruled Israel several years in the last third of the 4th century BCE and did nothing to hurt the Jews, so they indeed didn't see a reason to rebel against him.

  • @ZviJ1 Actually not confused at all. The greek conquest by Al the not so great ended when the Maccabees decimated major pieces to Alexanders army. Even if the Greeks were based in Syria, it does not make them the Syrian. The movie is rubbish.

  • @andyinvietnam I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to declare u're absolutely correct.

If u *thoroughly* study this topic u'll be surprised to discover that Alexander's army hadn't existed anymore by the 2nd century BCE and the Maccabees needed to fight almost 40 years to drive the Greek Syrians out of Israel. The struggle was replete with many achievements followed by setbacks. Full independence from the Greeks was achieved only in 142 BCE, 25 years after the revolt began.

    Just saying.

  • thanks

  • Butchery.

  • Why does Christianity Universalize, our Hebrew Torah, these Heathens have their gods. Two nations can't rule one Kingdom, Greeks, Babylonians, and Romans, NEVER wanted our religion or the God of Israel. Now Everybody can get in ,and bring their god with them, Where the HELL did all this spirit of Love come from?

  • This should get redone. I fucking love the story of the Maccabees. So much awesome war and battles, oh, man, the battles...

  • the hebrew hammer!

  • a pretty good movie so far, but if I remember correctly, Matithyahu (Mattathias) was not the HIGH Priest, but only a regular Priest. (And I also thought that it was Matithyahu who started the rebellion in the first place (1 Maccabees 2)

But, it being Hollywood, it can't be perfect. I sure hope someone makes a new version of it w/ today's cinematics. (It is an ok movie, but if it was redone like, for example, 300 or Braveheart, it would be insanely sucessful.)

  • @gideonjudges7 Yeah, I know. That's the problem with movies in general, they take things and rearrange them, condense them, try and make them more "interesting," or more "relevant" or whatever. This movie gives us a fell for the period and a sense of what's going on, but it does not follow the book. I DO provide a link to the ACTUAL book which I read out for the benefit of those who want Biblical Truth. For what it's worth, I think it's the only motion picture based on it, so what do you do?

  • @gideonjudges7

    He was the high priest!

  • No Mel Can't make a movie of the Maccabees I want to make one oh God please don't let him. Well I'm only 16 years old and if I want to make a movie of the Maccabees that would be a long time from now. I already have it pictured out Mel Gibson is a great director no doubt but God please let me do it when I have gone through film school that is and 10 years experience thank you God please hold him back. Amen.

  • @16Meny I feel you, bro. I wanted to make the most historically accurate film about the life of Jesus - in the original language and everything, then Gibson did The Passion film. I wanted to write a book or film about the fall of Lucifer, but Wendy Alec did her version of it in a novel. I wanted to do the Book of Revelation, only to find it had already been done with Richard Harris (R.I.P) but nothing like the Book of Rev.

Go for it, bro/sis. Do it well and mention "Ijapa I" in the credits.

  • @16Meny Beautiful from the heart prayer, young one.

Never give up and don't be afraid of the truth,

no matter how difficult it may be to face.

  • Wow, never realized there was a movie of the Maccabees already! Heard Mel Gibson thought about doing one ;-)

  • I hope he does! Unbelievable that this is it!

  • I so hope that Mel Gibson does one too. That would be awesome!!

Let's hope the Jews forgive him and allow him to do his thing.

  • @ThoughtTraveler Dumpling, we "the Jews" don't operate in lockstep, never mind controlling the banks, the media, Hollywood or even YouTube.

I can't recall that Jews ever prevented Gibson from pursuing anything -- not even his racist outbursts.

  • thanks for all the wonderful videos.

  • No problem. This was one of those once-in-a-lifetime finds. I was digging in a movie bargain rack looking for something else and came across this and it was the only one they had. Never saw it before and have never seen it again, and it only cost a couple of bucks. Figured God wanted me to have it, so I really wanted to post it for others. :)

  • Dude God bless in everything you touch. Thank for uploading, i learned i alot in this movie

  • Don't thank me, thank God. I only saw this movie once, and it was only a couple of bucks. God wanted me to have it, and I think He must have wanted me to post it. How could I do otherwise. Praise God!

  • ty 4 posting
