  • these bars in this video are fake... but if you buy the real silver clad bars from a legit mint like cmc or canadian royal mint or pan american or silver towne those are real and they spell mils correctly with one L so thats the ? when looking at these bars one L or 2

  • there is a huge common misconception with these bars... read the bar it sais mils not mills mills refers to a millionth of an inch but a mils is differant it is used in coating and thinkness in machining and plateing if you did more research you would find out that 1 mil is 1/1000 of an inch or .001" therefore 100 mils. is 1/10 of an inch or .1" that is how thick the plateing on the bar is.. these 1oz bars are 2"x1"x.25" do the math..... its 82% silver thus silver CLAD just like halves 65-70....

  • Atleast it says 100 mills, the "scammers" have some sort of a conscience.

  • It is a scam. There's another guy trying to pass off the New World Order bars as 1 Troy Oz 999 Pure Silver 100 Mills. When I called him on it, he said the title includes 100 Mills. That's not the point. The title is written to intentionally deceive and no clear disclaimer is written stating that it's not 1oz of silver.

  • It clearly says "These bars are not solid silver but are layered in .999 pure silver"

Bars not SOLID SILVER. <---- clear as day, LAYERED in .999 pure silver, also clear as day.

I bet you if you buy them, you are going to get exactly whats being sold, this is why there is no bids on the item, because people can CLEARLY READ.

  • There was no DECEPTION, said it wasn't solid silver. 1 Troy oz is 1 Troy oz. If it has any type of precious metal in it that weighs 1 Troy oz and was coated in silver, then guess what! It's 1 Troy oz! If people don't want to read what they are buying, then they deceived themselves! All the facts were there, you didn't need to google anything to know that these weren't 1 Troy oz of silver because IT SAYS IT ISN'T IN ALL CAPS!!!! This video is garbage!

  • says NOT SOLID, dumbass

  • FUCKING GARBAGE.. how morally could you sell this bullshit to your fellow human being.. ASSHOLE

  • @eBayTopRatedSeller

You mean there is actually a market for this worthless crap? Do you point out to buyers that it is in fact worthless crap unless they find another sucker willing to part company with his money?

  • The only difference is the market is much smaller for gold plated silver bar and coin collectibles compared to solid gold or silver which is a world wide market. You can not tell me that if you buy solid gold or silver that it is 100% safe investment. If your in a financial need to sell them and the value of gold and silver dropped very low. you would be just as pissed off as these buyers who are making all this fuss about 100 mills plated bars.

  • I could not tell someone that there is now potential of an investment type value in these bars. If one buys them off of us sellers when the market is slow they get them cheap. If that same person waits until the interest is up and people are seeking out these bars and resells them for a profit. You can not argue that that person made a bad investment. Strangely this is no different then What I see with real solid gold or silver bars and coins.

  • As a seller I am not scamming people I am selling really neat.. and undeniably beautiful bars(unless you get fake version made in china or Indonesia which is poor quality).

I am honest and I am fair. Infact I have found that just like when something stirs the public causing higher sales in candy or even paper bags. On ebay the same happens with these bars. At times many many people at ounce are interested which cause a demand and increase in value or in final value(the end sale price)

  • In short, people read things before buying them. 99.9% of people who write some sort of complaint about these items are from those who thought it was something else. I would guess 95% of those people simply did not read the listing or ask questions about something they were uncertain of before bidding. One thing that makes me nervous as a seller is when someone bids and wins the bar and then asked if it is solid. I never know If by no fault of my own I will get negative feedback from them.

  • When I can catch this I cancel all bidders while the listing is active. only leaving the last bidder that was around $5-$7.When canceling I leave a note to buyer that item is not solid and please read listing again before making another bid. This is an ethical thing. When I do not catch this. I contact buyer and briefly explain to them that I think they are mistake and think these bars are solid and ask them if they want to mutually cancel there bid.

  • Just like all things in life we can not be influenced by one persons experience and then permanently proclaim a thing to be bad. Most women's first sexual experience was a bit painful. If we focused all sexual experiences and compared them to that. Sex would have general public view as being painful. As a seller, I run into many instances where I see a 10 gram 100mills buffalo gold plated bar sell for $30 $40 $50 sometimes $500.

  • Yes most buyers are spontaneous buyers and that is where we run into problems. Most of it comes from buyers who did not read the description and should be mad at themselves for buying something they do not want. they blame the product calling it a fake or "item not as described" they blame everyone but themselves. They call the seller a scammers or con. The buyer in most cases is more unethical then most of the sellers. The other problem is the real scammers who take advantage of this

  • Some one else bought it. for a little more then I paid for it. Now what would you call that If it was a $30 hand painted canvas that I appreciated and explained its forensic value and then its perceived value? If I allowed the public auction(eBay) to decide its value and it sold continuously for $60. would I be scamming people selling them a $15 canvas with $5 of paint on it and $10 labor to the painter. Would I be wrong? NO. I agree that most people do not read what they buy.

  • made these bars just like a custom jeweler would do with his jewelry. The original maker found people to appreciate them which in return created a market, a demand, or value for these bars.

I told you how I firwst baught mine but I did not tell you how I started selling them. To put it short I wrote in the description of a listing my perceived value, experience and true appreciation. I gave a photo and clearly indicated that they were plated. Not to be considered a investment bar.

  • I could try to do the same about the analogy I gave about the gum and superstar. My point is that these bars do serve a purpose and too many people are trying to change the original intent because of some unethical people who did not clearly explain what these bars were before selling them. the bars are fun. The real questions is how many of you got a real poor quality version of these bars? I have seen counterfeits/fakes of these bars. no one has thought about that. the original maker

  • A scam consists of 2 parts. the object, something of substance, that is manipulated, altered, covered up to give off the appearance of a true original version. the second part of a scam in the person behind it. I could say that this author has scammed everyone who viewed this video and manipulate his intentions based off the evidence he gave that he gets money from making these videos. I could completely discredited this man intentions.it could appear that he is scamming sponsors of his videos

  • appreciated it. This is how I felt. I appreciated it. When I look at these bars I know they are not a replica that does not have the word replica or copy stamped on it. A true counterfeit is exactly that. a true fake is exactly that. A true scam is exactly that. It is creating something to look exactly like a real version but is made with poor or lesser quality materials. It is wrong to claim these bars to be a scam simply because one purchased it from someone who sells it.

  • When it arrived, I got my kicks out of it. I did not view it as a fake or counterfeit because I knew the technical aspects to what that means. these bars were not a replica of an exact bar that was a real bar. In short it was like having a custom piece of jewelry that someone made and then electro plated with a precious metal. it would be wrong to then call a mans piece of work or (idea) corrupt and fake. The true term should be custom plated jewelry and its value would be based off of those who

  • Perhaps, the author of this video would call me ignorant( I would pop him a good one right in the kisser if he tried saying that to my face). I knew exactly what I was getting. I knew it was plated and I knew there was no way in hell there could be enough real silver or gold to try and have that be the main justification for buying the item. I wanted it. it looked neat. it had real electroplating so it will look real. I knew I could experience the same as the person who bought a real one!

  • He is a brief story of how I began selling these and why I still do with a clear ethical conscience, In short I first saw one of these 6 months ago when browsing eBay. The title was clear. I read the description. I would only be a fool to think it was something diferent then what it was being described as. I new it was only plated and the only value it could have it what I am willing to pay for it. Call it a novelty item, it does not matter. I liked it I had no reason. I just did

  • The author of this video uses items like this that he feels he can anylyze and discredit for his own personal gain and profit by obtaining sponsorship's ect.. In short he is getting paid to write junk about people that 99% of the people get scammed(brain washed thinking he is right and then feeling bad about a possible purchase they made when before they did not feel bad. This is like trying to convince everyone its just gum worth .o5 if it was new and not chewed.

  • @eBayTopRatedSeller hes trying to warn people that 100 mills is pretty much worthless... why don't you just let people be informed instead of trying to downplay whats really going on?

  • If you watch this video again. but this time instead of thinking about how little you may know about these bars. You will find 90% of what he says is just a educated guess. He assumes a lot about how they came into existence with no factual proof. He speaks of these makers as cons which is his opinion based off of what he feels to be evidence. He even admits that he has purchased some of these bars knowing that he will get enough sponsorship( or more-yes I am stating my opinion now)

  • . I am 100% positive that If I became a world famous super rock star someone out there would then perceive this to be valuable. Was it ever truely valuable? No! If I was confident that I was going to be a super rockstar and did this to 1,000 pieces of my favorite gum and then sell them for $1,000 each to 1000 people. Does that mean I just scammed 1 million dollars out of people and planned it?

  • Hi, This guy is trying to be nice but he is being very presumptuous in regards to the thought process behind why someone created these. Anything in the world can contain value if someone values it. If I chew on a piece of gum and then publicly proclaim it was the best gum I have ever tasted then I place it in a plastic display case

  • Well guys, ive been refunded my money by the seller after some emails sent.:)

  • btw it was 5 oz at $30 per oz..$150 :(

  • Other sellers had descriptions like in the vid, this seller didnt, and i was told that i could get my money back.I hope i do,and i hope others do as well.

  • I just got ripped off. Here's the headline and description from the seller:Headline-ONE TROY OZ. .999 SILVER MAPLE LEAF ART BARS;Description- Up for auction is 1 troy oz. .999 fine silver clad maple leaf art bars. These are beautiful, polished proof-quality bars. Each bar is 1 troy ounce. These bars are a true collectors keepsake, and maybe the best inexpensive investment ever!!!!

I contacted ebay, but i have to recieve item before filing claim.Based on description and title,im entitled a refund

  • Not a scam. Why exactly would anyone try to buy an item valued at $35-$40 per ounce for less than $10? Do your homework and don't get pissed off if you don't.

  • Is seveny nine niney five the same as seventy nine ninety five ?

  • Milliscule.

  • Milliscule.

  • How the fuck am I a troll.. I speak truth>??? ur brain is MANGLED.

  • The ads say what they are and generally say something about "investing in silver". Nobody would buy a 100mill bar for investing in Ag; it's a scam.

  • Not a scam. It's plated. That's what the ebay ad says.

  • @disclosurenow9 your a DUMBASS like the ppl who buy art bars

  • @samus420 shut up troll

  • not a scam

  • Amen brother... Good job! Whenever I have a few minutes I report these guys to eBay... when you fill out the complaint to eBay, specify "Intentionally Misleading Description.". These guys are Scum!! What jerks!!!

  • How are they scammed? The description clearly says what it is. If one does not understand the meaning of a word that is too bad. Use a dictionary, do some research before spending your money.

  • @RBaleog this is part of helping out the research, yet I get no "Thank you" from you in helping so that one can DO RESEARCH when seeing 100 mills. Thanks to this video, it is on PAGE 1 in Google for "100 mills silver"

The scam is DECEPTION which i highly recommend you dictionary searching or if you are a scam seller then I would suggest looking for some ethics.

  • @endlessmountain How is this a scam, it clearly state "the bars are no solid silver"?

  • @endlessmountain thank you for your video dont let the idiots bring you down, it is a scam and thank you for exposing it

  • @RBaleog ----this buttmunch is probably a seller of these. they justify the new silver buyers not knowing the difference as to why it is not their fault. If you look at the listings tho, most skim over the mils or clad part of the listing and put up the .999 silver bar part in big letters. God will sort these people out in the end.

  • @RBaleog It states 1 troy ounce! It is to confuse people!

  • @RBaleog "How are they scammed? The description clearly says what it is."

Really? The description CLEARLY says what it is?

OK, what is the main metal in a bar? Is it aluminum? Lead? Copper? What is it?

How much silver is in one of these bars? We know it's 100 mills thick, supposedly, that's 2.5 mm.

Speculate on this - why are these bars made? Who is the intended buyer? Whose out there buying some unknown metal bar that is coated with 2.5 mm of silver? Why do they want to buy these?

  • Ebay should not allow them under bullion catagory. I feel for the new green investors that are paying 999 silver prices for this crap .I have been tricked twice on ebay and all I can say is ALWAYS pay through Paypal! I report the adds as fraudulent

  • I bought one each of the silver and gold plated bars. Not for the investment because I CAN READ and knew it was only plated copper. I bought them because I like shiny things! :) No, not really. I wanted to show people what not to buy (and it was fun showing them off at work, pulling their legs!)

  • Its not a scam hoss, the bars do weigh 1 Troy Oz, you failed to read the fine print where it sells as 100 mils. If you dont know what youre doing in the metals market, you should find some help with your investing from people who do know what they are doing. Youre fault, no one elses.

  • @TheSteadyMac So, If you can find an uneducated person... it then becomes ethical to rip them off?!?!? My God, that is sick. When I see a person who may be a little gullible, I go out of my way to help them, not screw them.

Selling this crap if preying on people pure and simple. Shameful!

  • @mandrlane THANK YOU

  • Actually, may be useful stuff... buy about 500 oz of this crap... stick it in the safe... then if you ever get a gun to your head, you can pretend to cry as the fools make off with the trash :)

  • @mandrlane insted you could INVEST in cameras and a SHOTGUN and dont let the FUCKIN PUKES near your SHIT

  • I've always been a bit wary of buying certain things on Ebay, and silver items are one of them.

  • OK PEOPLE THIS IS A SCAM BUT ITS ALSO A CHANCE TO BE SMART, IF YOU HOLD PHYSICAL SILVER SECURITY IS AN ISSUE, SO WHAT YOU DO IS BUY A GOOD STACK OF THESE BOGUS BARS AND KEEP THEM IN YOUR SAFE, AND KEEP YOUR REAL SILVER SOME PLACE ELSE, THAT WAY IF YOUR ROBBED YOU GIVE THEM THE FAKES WITH COMPLETE COOPERATION, IF THEY THINK THEY GOT WHAT THEY WANTED HOPEFULLY THEY WILL LEAVE WITH OUT YOUR INVESTMENT

  • @headlightguy if you do this strategy and that person would be dumb enough to not know the difference, you'd be better off with the gold stack or both. Good idea.

  • @endlessmountain lol one can only hope that if in the situation of being robbed that they would be stressed and not take the time to read the 100 mills lol,

  • Also, on ebay some idiot from Alabama was selling German silver. He never answered my email when I called him out on it.

  • I can't stand these fake bars. they reproduced and are ALL buy everywhere on ebay . getting sick of seeing them TOOO MANY. just type in 10 oz silver bar and all U get is that CRAP>.. :(

  • How can I help them?

  • Or what if a friend or family member is scammed?

  • Can't someone go to jail, or be forced to repay the amount scammed off their victims for this? Isn't there any kind of penalty or punishment, justice for this?

What can be done if someone is scammed, what if I am scammed in the future?

  • " I'll by that for a dollar"

  • You just saved me time and money thank you for the positive education.

    Great public service Thank you.

  • Buyer beware read the description. The seller is overpricing the product but it's all accurately described. If you don't know what it's saying you shouldn't buy it. There's a sucker born every second just waiting to be drained. I can't fault the seller. It's not a scam bar. It's exactly what is described.

So, my take is ther's no difference between these and any other pverpriced product you might by at a grocery store.

  • Don't buy from china ebay sellers for one thing. Ever.

  • I always start metal auctions at 0.99 for bullion (beat up "junk" silver coins with no collector premium) and use buy it now for coins/medals with additional collector or numismatic value. lol I use exclamation too....Mostly in emails to project enthusiasm and cheerfulness! I never mislead customers. The exclamation points are used as so:

"Hi sorry there's been a delay processing your order! One of those pesky shipping errors! Your item has been re-shipped and should be arriving shortly!"

  • are there any real silver on ebay or it all crap. who are some legit powersellers

  • @ScientologySucksAss Hi if you stay with coins you're going to do a lot better. Also I accumulate private mint commemorative coins, which usually are documented and certified. You can also look them all up on the internet (it's work but show me an easy way to make an honest buck and I'll do that). Counterieting silver coins isn't worth it due to the high expense of the manufacturing process.

I'm a top-rated seller and I'll be opening a coin/medal category soon. Channel has link to store

  • Also its the CMCMint that sells this crapp

  • Same as German silver too!

  • glad someone made a video about this.

  • Was searching around and 100 mills equals 1/10 of a gram!!!

So you would need around 320 bars to make a troy ounce!

I was confused to at first cause a mil equals .001 of an inch, and there is no way those bars are coating with .1" of silver.

Lets all hope the buyer wanted them for the art, and not trying to get something for nothing, and in that case - FAIL!

  • Screwed out of twenty bucks!!!

    SOB lol

  • @407buddy If it's the QSB 1 oz Walking Liberty round, I can see why they wouldn't take them. It bothers me that they copied the obverse and reverse of the Walking Liberty half dollar. And the only thing that shows that it's from a private mint, is a very tiny QSB the obverse.

  • At first glance you would think these bars are from the Royal Canadian Mint. The RCM makes a 1 oz. gold bar with their Maple Leaf/M logo on the front, and it's the pattern for the back.

  • buy iron (fe) invest in it i swear its the best thing you will ever do theres only 700 000 years of the porus metal left in the earth make sure you buy 999.999 fine iron dont be ripped off by fake iron bars stack those iron bullion bars high and enjoy the dull rusty appearance this beutifull metal gives off

  • I actually bought a 100 mills silver round for about 18.45 back in march from a reputable coin dealer. Should I confront him?

  • @arch571332 yes then hit him with a 18 dollar punch in the nose

  • That was all that old CMC Mint stuff from last year. 100 percent Chinese shipped through a Canada address. I got taken on some Amero coins for about 34 bucks as I recall.

  • I got one not knowing because i was looking for a "bargain" on ebay and looking for auctions that "end soonest" I placed a bid then noticed that my "$15" bar of silver was a rip off. The description on this one says its not solid silver but layered, however on my auction it was very misleading claiming that silver ounces (then) would go above $20. I was luckily able to return it on the grounds of the misleading ad.

  • Bargin.

  • I bought a 999 silver 100 mills one ounce bar back in 2009, I only paid 10 dollars with shipping. Glad I didnt buy 10 of them. Its a nice little piece just to show to people and I say to them " Dont buy this shit!" haha

  • thanks.

  • Thank You for this Video! I can see where someone could confuse 100 Mills Silver as the name of the mint who produced these Silver bars. If you did not read the entire description it would be very easy to think you are buying 10 troy ounces of .999 Fine Silver. This video tells me to just stay away from EBay all together. I will stick to APMEX or Provident Metals!

  • @dtgoody I got ripped off.... I wish i would have seen this before. >__________<

  • His 10 minutes tell you

    Use APMEX or KITCO ONLY!!!!

    Move on.

  • good vid. thanks for posting.

  • cheers D more scams mean more people buying. Shame about these scam people

  • Great information, i make things simple. Just buy AMerican Silver eagles and put them away and not worry about it :-). Make it easy guys!

  • 1 mill = .001 inches, so 100 mills would be 1/10th of an inch thick. That could refer to the thickness of silver on a piece of base metal (filled) or a piece of pure silver 1/10th of an inch thick. Anything filled would be ornamental only as it's difficult to ascertain the amount of silver used. cheers Darrell

  • Good catch. I could see its B.S a mile away. But good you have spread the truth.

  • Thanx for the heads up Derek =)

  • i was goin to buy some of these at like $4 just because i likes the colours on the back lol....i wish the real maples had thos colours :(

  • thanks

  • I read the negative feedback and it described what you said in the video.

  • not only the people who are deceived are gonna buy these bars, but also scam artists will buy them and sell them as legit silver bars.My guess is that a lot of people will be scammed ...Good Post...

  • It pays to do your homework.

When disaster stikes it's not just Halliburton who prey upon the people.

  • thanks for the heads up. as metals rise in price so will scams

  • I did not know about 100 mills, thanks for sharing. How much is the actual Silver in this set?

  • Too good to be true + seller acts ignorant = SCAM!

  • Yeh I almost bought some german silver. That fucker had it posted on the bottom of his page, almost didn't catch it.

  • This kind of fraud keeps people out of the silver who want to get in. Thanks for helping us all out and contributing to the education of us all.

  • Escam

  • Derek do your next vid on gold filled viles of gold flakes, there is almost nothing in gold weight and is another scam

  • Comment removed

  • dam these people.

  • Hi Derek - Just for interest. I think 1 mil (notice spelled with one letter "L") (measurement of thickness) is 1/1000 inches so 100mils is about 1/10 of an inch (2.5mm)

This is fairly heavy plating. If you were a clued up, smart con artist, you'd try to make these bars fairly short and dumpy so to reduce the surface area to volume ratio and so use less silver.

I'm gonna figure the solver content of these bars when I can find the dimensions.

  • @zalida100 Hi Derek - Something is wrong here. The "mills" must be something else. I'd guess 100 microns or something (1/10mm)

These bars seem to be 2inches by 1.25inches. If the plating was 2.5mm thick like i said, it would make the bars contain about 42grammes which is over 1 troy ounce, so mills must be something else.

Assuming 1 mill to be 1/10 mm then it works out to be about 1.7g silver per bar. x 10 bars is 17g silver is about 1/2 a troy ounce - so maybe worth $10-$15

    1.7grammes silver.

  • @zalida100 I think 100 mils is 100 millionths of an inch. This is normal when talking in plating terms.

  • @ZullGostnu2 Hi. So you reckon 1/10 000 inch?

    My guess at 1/10mm = 4/1000 inch.

If you're right then there seems to be approx 0.5g of silver used to make these bars & my estimate was 17g.

Thanks very much for your help here - much appreciated.

It was just for a bit of fun.

I think you are correct when you say that 1/10 000inch may be about the thickness used in plating. I think for (decorative) Chrome plating this sounds plausible.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers

  • 98.6% isn't very good feedback on eBay. Anything less than 99.5% is a warning to the buyer.

    Thanks for the warning Derek!

By the way, "first class mail" just means it isn't sent by media mail (like magazines and flyers) or some other slow service. An envelope with a stamp on it is first class mail.

  • Nice catch Endlessmountain!

  • HI Derek - funnily enough I noticed this thing on ebay yesterday.

You're right - it is a bit of a scam.

Notice however the returns policy on this auction - 7 days refund etc.

There will be enough people fooled that they can afford to honour this policy though.

I did a quick search - ebay uk and found a couple of auctions that sold for around $125 US (£70 - £80).

There is one listing that starts at £217 - it didn't sell.

It's great that you made this vid. - Damned useful. Well done mate.

  • i noticed that a few months ago, its a total scam, ebay should step in and bar them from listing them...

  • A fool and his money are soon parted

    P.T. Barnum?

It is a circus out there, watch yourselves

  • good vid.

  • this isn't a scam. the description clearly says 'these bars are not solid silver but are layered'. what's the problem? you can't fix presumptious people who jump in without thinking.

  • @xadart The problem is not always presumptuous people but uninformed people. Thats what the video is for. Not everyone knows everything about how silver/gold is sold nor do they know what the mills mean. I've introduced silver to a few folks and being new buyers they dont know everything out the gate. First is always what is a troy oz, second is usually whats the difference between a troy oz and a oz. Then come the detailed questions about subjects like this. Thanks for the informative video!

  • @OleIrishReb fair enough

  • it's likely intended to make money off of an unknowledgeable person

  • @PandoraLeigh watch?v=ZJDK6ctRjqw&feature=related

  • watch?v=ZJDK6ctRjqw&feature=related

  • Great video

  • Thanks very much for the warning.

  • This is great Derek. Exposing the scams. Thank you.

  • great find D

This is exactly why people want to deal w/ reputable dealers (ie DRUTTER'S site and many others)

    peace

  • Thanks for making this video. I own a silver bar and would not sell it for less than $ 2,000.00

  • A Sucker is born every day, A Fools is easily separated from his money, A Leopard won't change his spots. Just a few things my Ex wife told me in an email after she emptied our Joint Savings account.

Hey Derek did you hear about some Central Bank in Africa, could been Nigeria or Ethiopia bought 240 Million dollars worth of Gold plated tungsten. China is turning out fake Silver Eagles.

Man The Scammers are coming out of the woodwork like maggots going for fresh meat.

  • These are great for selling on a street corner that you plan on never returning to once your done scaming.

  • I wonder if the value of the pretty coloured paint exceeds the the value of the silver plating on those same copper bars?

The 100 mills bars are an expensive way to buy copper, if you do want to invest in physical copper then is a good chance that the cheapest way to do that is to buy some copper plumbing pipes at a hardware store.

  • First Class mail is the slowest/cheapest option for international shipping.

  • I did buy one of those 2 years ago thinking it was real silver. Learned my lesson.

  • There's a clever commercial that sells .999 plated gold eagles, for 29.99, but they say they can't guarantee the price for long because the price of gold is rising so fast
