I couldn't take the combat seriously in that game, it felt like driving a remote control pocket tank around on the kitchen floor, only with more degrees of movement.

Therefore, flying rapidly past a target, attacking and retreating has little to no strategic value.

The Hyperion looks like a Hurricane, only less rusty, lol, and more Caldari/Gallentean. The armed transport is the gold-ruset color of Amarr and looks like a Sansha transport cruiser.
For a Space Sim X3 is so beautiful. I don't care if you like it or not, it's the best looking Space Sim available today. Which doesn't say much, since the genre is three parts dead.

X3TC is much more violent with many more ships and very easy peasy to make crap loads of money but X3 Reunion is the true game for trading and empire building.
This is SORTA like freelancer. Freelancer had a much better story and the secrects were better, but X3reunion has everything else better. Theres an actual economy, you can own hundreds of ships if you want AND space stations. You can own/pilot cruisers, carriers, fighters everything.
Once you get over the HUGE learning curve, you'll love this game. You need a pretty good computer to play it with full graphics, but if its dual core with a geforce 7900 type card, it will play smooth.
no need to buy a transporter.. that will take you a lot longer to pay for before you can buy stations or build complexes, just hire a transport. (find one of friendly faction nearest the shipyard you want to buy a station from)
also.. for station protection, hire a transport to come park beside your station without actually buying anything to drop off. lol it will sit there blast enemies.
I played Elite Frontier but u cannot compare it with X3.Elite frontier was 1 of the first games with 3D gaphics and it was the first space game with 3D.But rumors say Elite frontier 4 will be released and u will need a godlike comp. to play it.
The Player HQ still takes my breath away, but the way you exit doesn't make sense.

What do you mean Everything on TC? Either way if your computer can handle TC, id say get both. Especially Reunion first that way you wont be to far behind in the plot.

3. Yes, you can have a fleet of any size you want.
4. In a way. Your empire is your trade empire, with your ships representing the culmination of your wealth if you so desire. With an awsome mod called "Conflicts" you can side with a race and go forth and capture sectors in the name of the race you represent
yep you can build space stations, yes you can fly and command the big ships, you can command squads of fighters not sure about fleets, and you can make multiple stations but not sure hopw much further it can go. hope that helps :-)
A nice game, too bad it decided to just crash after a while, when loading any of my latest savegames. Never seen a game before that corrupts its own files, nicely done, and theres not even a patch fixing that.

i remember first seeing a trailer for this game on an official xbox magazine game disk, shame it was never released on console, guess the UI was waaay too complex for A,B,X,Y buttons and a D-pad haha

Haha, well, that thought did strike me as well - thanks for poking a hole in my noble comment.
Anyway, what I meant was based on what natural laws we know of it's more realistic. The ships use thrusters to change directions, acceleration gets slower the bigger the ship and you can actually nter the atmosphere of planets, etc etc etc.
The only odd things is the speed-limit in spite of full thrusters.
I have an AMD Barton 2500+, 1gb RAM, GF6600GT and this game runs fine on little over medium settings. It gets a little jerky in extremely populated sectors during heavy dogfight (10+ ships, including capships pound each other), like Sizewell.
mine is...... fast. enough to run everything including AA and AF on max while fighting in argon prime rush hour, with media player in the background :P
true, cause everyone would fight the heck out of each other, unless if you would start a clan and fight through universe taking over sectors and getting all the profit!

I agree it may change the gameplay and make it more Eve Online like. But, come on, if one realy wants to play alone why don't just stay offline? Let those who want to compete with something smarter then AI managed NPC's have fun.

i highly doubt that, unless your a pussy who cheats, if you got close enough to one of my cruisers you wouldnt even get its shields down past 3/4, and if you did, youd have to worry about my 120 fighters beating your wimpy ass
You could beat an M1 and M2 with an M3,M3+. You just shouldnt go to close. The AI of Ships in Reunion isnt really great, so its easy to beat lots of fighters easily. If you really use 120 fighters at the same time they will star to hit each other with theyre fire and crash into other ships.
this game is brilliant the graphics is great the gamplay is great but theres just one problem. for me i always felt a strange lonlyness on this game. an nternet versionof it wud be great.
that's basically eve online. Fun, but brutal and unforgiving. Pure luck, and possibly some cunning allow you to survive the hoards of rogue factions and waring empires. It's hard as hell to gather resources and make a start in that game. Harder, if you can imagine, than in X3
i got the hyperion its awesome it has underneath mounted turrets rear turrets and a hell of a lot of speed, all of this thanks to the script editing cheat :)
The Ray is a good destroyer against larger ships, but it get beaten up fast by fighters fleets of M3 and M4. Better than the Ray is the Split Python, that supports Flak battery arrays on the sides - it does short work of all Xenon, pirate and Khaak ships that dare to get near it.
Oops accidentanlly hit spam instead of reply, sorry! The split ships are fast and have good weapons. Get a few Split ships, reverse engineer them at the HQ, and then you can build. I would recommend the wiping out of both the Paranid and split.
Oh boy, this game is marvelous, the HYPERION owns Xenons Destroyers big time!!! XD I was able to purchase AVARICE SECTOR for 890 million credits because of that marvelous ship!!! The Hyperion ship should have been included into the main story mode missions... pity.
Xenons! Never notice that, sometimes, when you blow a ship instead of leaving missiles they leave... WEAPONS?!? When a Xenon destroyer blows, sometimes it leaves about 10 - 20 million credits in Gamma PPC weapons! Non mentioning huge amounts of alpha and Beta HEAPS, Pulse Beam Emitters, alpha and Beta flaks... i not only bought avarice, but also every damn ship in the game XD
nice, oh well, im to the point where if i want a sector, ill jsut conquer the damn thing..
speaking fo which, if i DO want a sector, and i eliminate every enemy ship there, how do i go about it becoming mine, do i get a message saying "you conquered this sector?"
If you clean a Xenon or Khaak sector, they just respawn afterwards, destroyer after destroyer with each passing hour... until the sector get so clogged with enemies that you have to do "hit-and-run" attacks to diminish their numbers. By the way, besides having your name in the sector's race definition, there's NO other visible advantage of owning your own sector but vanity! I was dying to know what happens if i bought the damn thing, so... well...

You need to have proven yourself in the game. If you have 5 million credits, atl east one station and good relations with all four races (enough to buy a M3 in their shipiards, i think), Bala Gi will contact you... and you can own the universe onboard the Hyperion if you conclude the first mission!
Hyperion M7 is by far the best ship to be in, you are more agile than most M6 while you got the firepower and shields not far behind the big capital ships.

yea! or if i really need to fly a cruiser for say, a suprise attack into paranid prime, i can take out their cruiser then their two carriers with the Boron Ray cus its so agile i can just strafe out of the way of anything they throw at me relatively quickly, then after i jump back to a safe gate in the same sector, bring in my Colossus and launch by 30 nova's. i also bring in my titan and commence the eradication of their stations.

cant make your own universe, you can use script editor to make your own ships thoiugh.
look up the code for that.
and to make money easy you ahve to explore and find good trade deals... to make alot fast i run space fuel from the distillery in herrons nebula to the argon trade station in herrons nebula, buy the space fuel when its aroun 850. once you get enough money buy a wheat factory and a freighter have the freighter get energy cells for the factory

I stopped playing X because the AI is terrible :( I got bored of my ships randomly flying into things. Plus the GUI is pretty bad, it's not intuitive for organising fleets.
If some obvious flaws were fixed it would be amazing. The graphics jump in X3 was impressive.
you can still have alot of fun, i got really bored with it today, i ahve 50 million credits and didnt know what the hell to do with it... so i bought 50 paranid perseus raiders or whatever the m4 for the paranid is... took that through 3 pirate sectors and assaulted a base of theirs.. now tell me that doesnt sound like a reason to start playing again : D

I agree it may change the gameplay and make it more Eve Online like. But, come on, if one realy wants to play alone why don't just stay offline? Let those who want to compete with something smarter then AI managed NPC's have fun.
If this game was MMO it would be a threat to "Infinity : The Quest for Earth".

how do you go about scripting in the hyperon and other ships? i can use the script editor for money but i'm finding hard to do much else. also my seta wont work it just makes a buzz and doesn't activate. can any x3 fans help me?

i highly doubt that, unless your a pussy who cheats, if you got close enough to one of my cruisers you wouldnt even get its shields down past 3/4, and if you did, youd have to worry about my 120 fighters beating your wimpy ass

You could beat an M1 and M2 with an M3,M3+. You just shouldnt go to close. The AI of Ships in Reunion isnt really great, so its easy to beat lots of fighters easily. If you really use 120 fighters at the same time they will star to hit each other with theyre fire and crash into other ships.

that's basically eve online. Fun, but brutal and unforgiving. Pure luck, and possibly some cunning allow you to survive the hoards of rogue factions and waring empires. It's hard as hell to gather resources and make a start in that game. Harder, if you can imagine, than in X3

The Ray is a good destroyer against larger ships, but it get beaten up fast by fighters fleets of M3 and M4. Better than the Ray is the Split Python, that supports Flak battery arrays on the sides - it does short work of all Xenon, pirate and Khaak ships that dare to get near it.

yea, but i have a carrier for anti fighters roles, thats why i bought the ray, to be mostly anti capital ship.
split python only has 8 shields and is 20 million credits more expensive.

Oops accidentanlly hit spam instead of reply, sorry! The split ships are fast and have good weapons. Get a few Split ships, reverse engineer them at the HQ, and then you can build. I would recommend the wiping out of both the Paranid and split.

Oh boy, this game is marvelous, the HYPERION owns Xenons Destroyers big time!!! XD I was able to purchase AVARICE SECTOR for 890 million credits because of that marvelous ship!!! The Hyperion ship should have been included into the main story mode missions... pity.

Xenons! Never notice that, sometimes, when you blow a ship instead of leaving missiles they leave... WEAPONS?!? When a Xenon destroyer blows, sometimes it leaves about 10 - 20 million credits in Gamma PPC weapons! Non mentioning huge amounts of alpha and Beta HEAPS, Pulse Beam Emitters, alpha and Beta flaks... i not only bought avarice, but also every damn ship in the game XD

speaking fo which, if i DO want a sector, and i eliminate every enemy ship there, how do i go about it becoming mine, do i get a message saying "you conquered this sector?"

Nope, not even in the Xpanded mod 7.3.
If you clean a Xenon or Khaak sector, they just respawn afterwards, destroyer after destroyer with each passing hour... until the sector get so clogged with enemies that you have to do "hit-and-run" attacks to diminish their numbers. By the way, besides having your name in the sector's race definition, there's NO other visible advantage of owning your own sector but vanity! I was dying to know what happens if i bought the damn thing, so... well...

You need to have proven yourself in the game. If you have 5 million credits, atl east one station and good relations with all four races (enough to buy a M3 in their shipiards, i think), Bala Gi will contact you... and you can own the universe onboard the Hyperion if you conclude the first mission!

Hyperion M7 is by far the best ship to be in, you are more agile than most M6 while you got the firepower and shields not far behind the big capital ships.
you can Easily destroy any ship ingame with the M7

yea! or if i really need to fly a cruiser for say, a suprise attack into paranid prime, i can take out their cruiser then their two carriers with the Boron Ray cus its so agile i can just strafe out of the way of anything they throw at me relatively quickly, then after i jump back to a safe gate in the same sector, bring in my Colossus and launch by 30 nova's. i also bring in my titan and commence the eradication of their stations.

cant make your own universe, you can use script editor to make your own ships thoiugh.
look up the code for that.
and to make money easy you ahve to explore and find good trade deals... to make alot fast i run space fuel from the distillery in herrons nebula to the argon trade station in herrons nebula, buy the space fuel when its aroun 850. once you get enough money buy a wheat factory and a freighter have the freighter get energy cells for the factory

I stopped playing X because the AI is terrible :( I got bored of my ships randomly flying into things. Plus the GUI is pretty bad, it's not intuitive for organising fleets.
If some obvious flaws were fixed it would be amazing. The graphics jump in X3 was impressive.

you can still have alot of fun, i got really bored with it today, i ahve 50 million credits and didnt know what the hell to do with it... so i bought 50 paranid perseus raiders or whatever the m4 for the paranid is... took that through 3 pirate sectors and assaulted a base of theirs.. now tell me that doesnt sound like a reason to start playing again : D

Nope, impossible. The player HQ is only available in version 2 and above. Old saved games aren't compatible I believe.
