@ joneess: Of course we think about Jesus. He's one of the most well-known prophets, and his gospel teachings are all through the sunnah like scattered pearls. Beautiful.
We do accept what he taught. Firstly, he said several times in the extant scriptures that he came for the House of Israel. That's neither you from the looks of it, nor me.
Secondly, we do accept what he taught. He never said he was God. For something that important, a clear and unambiguous statement would be indicated. As far as his other teachings, as I said, they are all in the sunnah of his brother prophet Muhammed alayhi salaam.
He spoke with a samaritan woman and healed a centurion's servant. He ministered to Tyre and Sidion (both were gentile cities not jewish). He came for the house of Israel, but also for everyone else.
Secondly, he repeatedly claimed to be God in a way that was clear and unambiguous to the pherasiees, sadducees and others of his time. It is this claim that led to his crucifixion.
youve totally ignored this question, since youre no wiser to give a different meaning to it than to what has already been stated of what these words actually mean!
A mere myth, a figment of your imagination, to be unique in order to deceive the masses in fact to create god out of a man who in reality was created by the Creator-Allah swt the only one worthy of being worshipped- & theres NO partner to or anything equal to Him!
Explain YOUR understanding of the words a priori & inference
It seems then you did not understand/accept the concept of the trinity? besides, many verses show christ claiming to be god accepting worship etc and in the old testiment we see that the mashiach would be God incarnate. Lets refrain from phrases like, "probably more seriously than you did" as I am currently in grad school studying theology.
do you think that biologists think about evolution seriously?
i am studying biology at uni but all i see is some subjective people who put the idea of "Godless" universe to the top, then explicate what they see according to that
if there is no God,of course evolution is the most "logical" possible way to explain the living things
just like that, you Christians accept the idea of trinity as an apriori and explicate all the verses in Bible depending on it
I do think a great many biologists seriously think about evolution. They may not always have the same perspective that you or I have and may even believe reason to be omnicompetant, but that doesnt mean they don't seriously think about it.
As for the trinity, we christians inferred the concept of the trinity from scripture via much thought and wrestling with the divine nature of Christ. It is not a priori.
This is really interesting, according 2 whom or rather 2 which version of bible shud this B attributed?
Forget the interpreted parts of the Scripture" which was written by ppl who didnt even have names 2 identify them by, & never had the opportunity or were fortune 2 B ever in the company of Jesus ibn Maryam!
The translated version of bible has so many flaws-contradictions in it, one shudders 2 think of it being anywhere near Divine Scripture!
"This is really interesting, according 2 whom or rather 2 which version of bible shud this B attributed?"
While your question seems to indicate a minimal understanding of what "a priori" and "inferrence" mean, you should know hat the trinity was an accepted idea long before there was a biblical canon. It is inferred from the original hebrew Tanakh as well as from the original greek new testiment.
as for "flaws" name one. I dont inderstand the rest of what you said.
May be you re right, there is a shortcoming which needs to be remedied but would YOU explain YOUR understanding of the words a priori & inference, so it's clearly understood by all!
The rest of what you didnt understand meant :That those who wrote the bible were NOT present in the company of Jesus ibn Maryam so what they wrote was nothing more than THEIR idea of how God's word should sound like - in fact fairy tales even if they wrote in Hebrew which latter became Greek
As for the quran, it is rejected because of a number of reasons.
1) Mohammed doesn't qualify as a true prophet according to the Tanakh
2) Much of what is contained in the quran does not match up with either the Tanakh, the Gospels, or the Epistles. The story of Issac and Abraham for example.
3) Mohammed is not the only one who has tried to add to or change scriptural teaching, what makes him more valid than Joseph Smith Jr?
What makes Bible or all the scriptures you believe more valid than Quran?
Numberless contradictions?
Scientific errors?
More important,logical errors?
If you were raised as an atheist then started believing in divine power, would you accept Bible at first too?
or would you compare it to others?
btw,are you sure that they also think well about the fact that "nearly" all random mutations are harmful and it is the only way to add NEW info to genes?
1)The christian bible predates the quran and has a vast collection 3,500 of ancient manuscripts in greek. Not only that but the earliest manuscripts date to within 25 years of the last book in the new testiment. No other ancient text comes close to the kind of documentation that the bible has behind it, not even the quran.
Furthermore it documents both prophesies and their fulfillment hunderds of years after the prophasy was made.
Furthermore, if mohammed really is a prophet and really does believe in the same God I do and claims that christians and jews are "people of the book" why doesnt mohammed fit the biblical description of a true prophet? What makes the Quran more valid than the book of mormon? You still haven't answered that question.
As for errors and contradictions give me specific examples to discuss.
I do not wish to draw out a long drawn arguement regarding this, so this is just a push towards the right direction. Apply the test of 1 John 4:1-3 to Muhammad(pbuh). Muhammad(pbuh) passed this test flawlessly (Quran 3:45). Difference between him and Joseph Smith? Joseph smith had no miracles done during his lifetime. Muhammad(pbuh) had miracles in the literary form by knowing of knowledge only the Creator would know. If u would like to know more, pick up a copy of the Holy Quran and read.
If mohammed denies that jesus is the christ, the son of the living God, contradicts what the Tanakh says, and makes prophecies that do not come true, then he is a false prophet. 1 John 4:1-3 cannot be read while ignoring Deuteronomy 18:20-22, nor can we ignore the fact that 1 John 4:1-3 refers to Jesus as "Christ". IOTW this verse claims jesus is the jewish messiah. Therefore it also cannot be taken out of the context of the messianic prophesies.
The messianic prophesies of the Tanakh make it quite clear that messiah must be crucified, and rise again. Mohammed denies this.
As for joseph smith and miracles, you must not know much about mormonism. Mormons believe that joseph smith had many miracles during his lifetime. is that qualifiaction enough? Smith also claimed to have miracles in the literary form by knowing of knowledge only the creator would know. If you would like to know, pick up a book of mormon and read.
As i do not want to overload this page with comments as this is not a discussion page but a comment page about the video, I would just like to point out that:
a) Muhammad(pbuh) and Muslims believe that Jesus(pbuh) IS the Christ.
b) Christ means Messiah not the Son of God
c) Joseph Smith just like Jesus(pbuh) have followers who claimed he performed miracles. However, no one person living now has seen them. Muhammad's(pbuh) miracles? It lasts till the end of time.
I can bring a horse to the water but I cant force the horse to drink the water. I have already given you answers to your questions in my previous replies. If you read the Holy Quran with an open heart and God wills it, then you will see the Truth. If you would like to discuss further send me a message and I will reply if I am able to answer them.
You have not explained why I should accept mohammed. Sorry but you're going to have to try a lot harder and know your scriptures a lot better. To me he's just another false prophet who added to scripture, just like Joseph Smith. I encourage you to read the bible more with an open heart, and try hard to do better than give it a passing glance, try hard to understand it. Ask questions.
Thanks for replying. Now we know wat your true intentions are n that u are not honest to yourself in seeking the truth since I have already answered one of your qns and u still ask.
To answer your charge that Muhammad(pbuh) changed scripture, do u honestly think the bible does not have any interpolations? Try John 5:7. Something that vindicates your trinity and yet u accuse Muhammad(pbuh) of adding to scripture?
I will not reply anymore knowing your true intentions. Msg me if u want to debate.
1 John 5:7 is not in my bible. If Mohammed did not add to scripture then what do you call the quran? If he did not contradict scripture then how do you accont for the differences in the accounts of the sacrifice of issac/ishmael?
I seek to understand your point of view, not to convert to islam. what's wrong with that?
hi joness105639...i read the story of abraham's sacrifice of his son both from the Torah and Quran. I have to admit that the story in the Torah contradicts itself. I was surprised to know that the Quranic version doesn't mention the name of the son who was sacrificed (but can be easily inferred as Ishmael though). The Torah says that when Isaac was conceived Abraham was told Isaac will have many children....
Gen 17:19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
(the above means before isaac was born abraham has been informed isaac will procreate)....
....(joness105639) Since the Torah says abraham was ordered to sacrifice isaac before he had children....then Either God thinks Abraham is stupid enough not to notice the contradiction...OR God Changed his mind and is hoping Abraham hasn't noticed (which would imply God is not perfect and changes his mind) OR people who dont' see this Clear contradiction are just plain blind.
This is what they call a false dichotomy. There is a third possibility. God had the whole thing under control and never intended to actually allow Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, but wanted to accomplish a few things. First, he wanted to test Abarham's trust. If God had wanted to he could have allowed abraham to kill isaac and then make sarah conceive abraham a replacement so why did he give abraham a lamb in isaacs place? (cont)
joness- what the whole sacrifice thing symbolizes is not my issue here. There could be many ways to interpret it,for a second let's pretend it had no meaning(it does but it's not the issue here)You said God had the whole thing under control.he didn't want abraham to sacrifice his son,we all know that, but Abraham DIDN'T! However,he will surely know that God doesn't intend for isaac's life to end after this test, coz this PARTICULAR son when he was conceived God promised him many kids, got my point?
What it symbolizes is important. I believe that God likes sending messages this way and if in fact he intended to send a prophetic message about the messiah through this story, then it provides a motive for his actions.
Second, it wasn't at the same time as the promise was made that abraham would be the father of nations. That happened a long time before isaacs birth. Long enough that ABraham lost faith in God's promise that he slept with hagar and she gave birth.
@joness105639...God is not limited and is not powerless and God can give Abraham 1000 children..the purpose of asking Abraham to sacrifice his ONLY son (ditching Ishmael which implies God doesn't count kids through maids and renders them not worth mentioning) symbolizes whatever u want...it symbolizes Jesus for theory's sake...it symbolizes whatever u believe...that is not the point i'm trying to convey to you....the point is God said: ........
Third, is God so limited and powerless that he cannot give any more sons to abraham other than isaac? If in fact abraham did kill Isaac, would God have somehow been powerless to make good on his promise? is abraham more powerful than God?
.....day and night whenever he thinks of Isaac he KNOWS he will have children who will carry the covenant of God..every time he says his name he KNOWS he will have kids...then suddenly one day God tells him..Go sacrifice ur ONLY SON (I love how Ishmael Got zeroed out by the Almighty Creator as if teaching humans to zero-out kids through maids) What did Abraham think?? God changed his plan??? or...he might think:"ok God i will take isaac and do as u say"...
@joness105639 but in his heart he know isaac will survive one way or another....could be that Isaac will run away when abraham tells him of God's order...could be something will come up and stop them...but one way or another he have KNOWS Isaac will survive...thus when he went to sacrifice his son...he wasn't worried about LOSING Isaac...for 33 years he knows he will have kids!!!....Got it?? (I doubt...but never mind...it's up to u)
"@joness105639 but in his heart he know isaac will survive one way or another"
How do you know that. Have you spoken with abraham? Like I said, there is no specific instance where God promises that Isaac specifically will be the vehicle by which His promise to abraham will be fulfilled. There could have been a second son. If I were Abraham, that thought would certainly cross my mind.
(cont) The second thing that God wanted to establish a precident for what he was to do thousands of years later when he sent Jesus (known as "The Lamb of God") to come and die in our place just as God provided a lamb in Isaacs place. No I am quite certain that he had the whole situation under control and there is no contradiction here.
...(joness105639)Then How in the world would God ask Abraham to sacrifice Isaac his only son(which is also wrong, but let's not get into that)when he told him before he will have a blessed progeny??Abraham knew Isaac will have blessed children so he will surely not be sacrificed,so Where Is The Test? How can God test him with something that is OBVIOUSLY not going to happen?....
The Bible also says that if God wanted to he could have raised up sons for abraham from the very stones of the earth. I can't imagine what would be going through my mind if I were abraham but the fact is that you and I both know that God didn't let abraham go through with it.
God can raise children for Abraham from stones if he wanted to. The bible is clear on this. I feel like I am repeating this fact ad nausium to a brick wall who just ignores it.
@joness10563.Gen 17:19Then God said, "Yes,but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will? call him Isaac.I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
Who's the brick wall?am i blind or is Isaac's name mentioned in the above verse?am i blilnd or does it say i will establish my covenant with him?Answer please.I swear to God i've never seen any one running away from something glowing in his eyes like this.Isaac=covenant.isaac=sacrifice how?
... (joness105639) the amount of contradictions regarding the age of isaac when he was "supposedly to be sacrificed" and,the "only son" is just too much..so u may want to use ur logic rather than what u have been taught blindly.
The age of issac at the point of his sacrifice is not specifically mentioned in the text. All of those are calculations and estimates. In chapter 21 we hear that abraham was 100 and that Isaac was born, in 22 we know that the sacrifice was "some time later". Sorry but you're making this one up it seems.
youre being given a Dawah- an invitation 2 have the opportunity 2 learn what you knew not from the sacred word of Allah swt; as was revealed to the Final prophet of Allah swt, with His Grace you might be lucky enough 2 gain some wisdom out of it, othewise you shall remain forever veiled & the knowledge shall always be hidden from you, but that is entirely His choice! NOT yours or mine but His & only His! Ask urself can you handle the power of this knowledge or favouring ignorance is preferred?
All I have to say is. I invite you to consider the injil and all the teachings of Jesus within the context of the whole christian bible. I invite you to seriously study the text and not so that you can prooftext ISlam into it, but that you may understand what the author was actually trying to say. What are you going to do when you get to heaven and you have to explain to God how you should get in even though you reject the notion that Jesus is the Son of God etc.
if u said jesus son of god... we all son of god.. because god create jesus and all human...can jesus create anything????????? tell me can or not?? if jesus cant create world and human and animal how can he be god? how can i worship to some one not create me... holy shit man..i only worship to some one really really create me.. he is real god only one
Jesus is uncreated, is eternally coexistant with God, is one with God and is God. The bible says that through Jesus all things were made and without jesus nothing was made that has been made.

Even if i was raised Christian,or "Churchian" I would stop "worshipping" him easily after seeing this verse
there are hundreds of verses pointing to the fact that he was just a human but chosen and supported by God with many miracles

If in fact abraham did kill Isaac, would God have somehow been powerless to make good on his promise? is abraham more powerful than God?
joness105639 2 years ago
.....day and night whenever he thinks of Isaac he KNOWS he will have children who will carry the covenant of God..every time he says his name he KNOWS he will have kids...then suddenly one day God tells him..Go sacrifice ur ONLY SON (I love how Ishmael Got zeroed out by the Almighty Creator as if teaching humans to zero-out kids through maids) What did Abraham think??

I can't imagine what would be going through my mind if I were abraham but the fact is that you and I both know that God didn't let abraham go through with it.
joness105639 2 years ago
God can raise children for Abraham from stones if he wanted to. The bible is clear on this. I feel like I am repeating this fact ad nausium to a brick wall who just ignores it.

@joness10563.Gen 17:19Then God said, "Yes,but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will? call him Isaac.I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
Who's the brick wall?am i blind or is Isaac's name mentioned in the above verse?am i blilnd or does it say i will establish my covenant with him?Answer please.I swear to God i've never seen any one running away from something glowing in his eyes like this.Isaac=covenant.isaac=sacrifice how?
girlpower88888 2 years ago
... (joness105639) the amount of contradictions regarding the age of isaac when he was "supposedly to be sacrificed" and,the "only son" is just too much..so u may want to use ur logic rather than what u have been taught blindly.
girlpower88888 2 years ago

Jesus is uncreated, is eternally coexistant with God, is one with God and is God. The bible says that through Jesus all things were made and without jesus nothing was made that has been made.
