i find the rhythm of this sport very odd.. its as if two completely different time frames are arbitrarily combined.. the in air tricks lack the artful centrifugal effect of spinning gravity and balance of snowboarding skating etc. The attempts at tricks that have inherent logic seem to just float on the kite while hanging from the arms. sometimes apparently flailing and waitng to touchdown. i can see distance cross country flatland this makes sense.. am i wrong?

maybe the kites dont create that much lift, but when the mountain drops out from under you, it can take longer to reach the ground... its not fake, just incredible.

@Iridethedirt 30 knot winds and a 12 meter kite you will pretty much go where ever you want and as high as you want as long as the wind is steady. Not that I would suggest riding that dangerously.

@Iridethedirt In the mountains u have thermal winds that go up the slopes, which create extra lift you won't have if you're kiting in a flat area, which means you get extra hangtime, just like they use it in paragliding and such

On the downhill run at 2:00 why is the kite folding onto itself? I wonder if Ozone snow kites do that. I would hope not.

It's because he took a hard turn down wind... Doing this takes all the wind away from the kite. That's why he quickly turns back into the wind and catches the kite in the wind again to keep it flying.

I love Ozone kites and think they are leading in the industry in snowkites. But untill some one makes a kite that's lighter than air any kite will stall when you carve hard down wind. I hope this helps to answer your question.

this is sick dude, does he have to kiteloop to go off jumps, I can't really see... It would be quite scary though because the snow is harder than water. That said it's probably easier to get into because if you can already snowboard you just add the kite little by little since you can just stand up without moving unlike with kitesurfing where you have to go fast to go at all pretty much.

theres this chasta guy with a few vids on here, has some good style. still a pretty young sport i agree sometimes it looks pretty 90's with the gay slow 1080s in the air. but you can get crazy speed and do really crazy direction changes in midair, and theres some sweet flatland flips and stuff that can be done or amazing park riding. wait until some more snowboard specific pros get into it, then it will advance fast.
