Yep I use Sony Vegas to do that ^^ ! With Sony Vegas you can created different video tracks so you can stack different video/pictures. And there's an option that allow you to cut the video/picture the way you want. For example, you can select the outline of the character you want to keep on your video and the sofware will mask everything else (it's quite long xD).

Yep I did that with Sony vegas ^^ it's the "invert" effect, it changes the colors into their opposite one
