  • I think I did this once before (on the PS version). Anyway, there were a couple of minor places where you could have been more battle efficient, but it all worked out in the end!

  • Very cool you are playing the Sega Saturn version with MPEG :) This music does sound great.

I only have the complete box for the PSX.

  • <3 the battle music its my fav :D

  • laike vs sephiroth, you decide!

  • I've actually done this before. If you get up to around level 12 or so in the White Dragon Cave (until Alex learns 'Explosion Staff'), it's actually fairly easy since you can take out whole groups at once. Nothing really changes if you do everything without Laike's help - you just get a lot of exp.

  • you gotta do 3 battles tho.

  • When people are saying the music is better on the sega version, they are probably talking about the sega cd version, not saturn

  • Two theories.

Either the people saying that are regarding what you have said and were talking about the Sega CD

    OR

They might have been talking about the quality of how different the Saturn version (clearer) differs from the PS version (oddly very quiet).

  • The midi quality of the Saturn version is much better, take the battle theme for example, it sounds very "tiny" on the PSX version.

But still, this differences are very minor and doesnt take away from the PSX version either.

  • Working designs did the US version for the psx(chances are you played the US version, if not ignore this), and they always do incredibly retarded stuff to their releases. I compared the music from the jap psx ver of eternal blue to WD's US release, and WD's release made my ears bleed. The booklet noted that they "remastered" the music and downsampled it from stereo to mono due to space limits. Apparently remastering means recording someone playing the game with a mic then adding echo and reverb.

  • take the working designs hate somewhere else. They did a fantastic job as a company. No other company brings this much devotion to localisatiosn anymore. Especially not on packaging and quality voice acting.

  • I was merely explaining why the audio sounds so bad. It's cause WD screwed with it. I wasn't aware that "true" quality meant hiding technical shortcomings with shiny packaging and bonus audio CDs that are afflicted with the very same shortcomings as the in-game audio.

  • I mean I dissagree with the music sounding bad. It was a technical archivement that they didnt have to cut and loop the songs differently to save space on the disk that way.

  • lol i have this in my psp and I wanna play it but at the same time i dunt cus i finished it before on psx ver.

  • w8a minute so you say that you can actually play the psx version on the psp?? COOL!

  • yah man..just need a custom firmware psp 3.40oe-a + and u can download psx, psp, and older systems such as nintendo, sega, gb, gbc,gba etc...yah basically all old systems..

  • =O I did this yesterday at like lv 5 and died >.>;

luna died, which screwed me over ><

  • The sound in the saturn version is better than the psx version. I loved the sega saturn wished it didnt fail in the u.s.a . Just proves that the dumbest console with enough hype can win any console war.

  • i agree. Look at xbox360 now. I hardly see any good RPG from it.

  • Dude wtf. I love classic rpgs more than anything but that coment is just wrong. Eternal Sonata Tales of Vesperia Lost Odessesy Star Ocean 4 Blue Dragon Enchanted Arms Plenty of good rpgness on 360. PS3 is the failure of rpgs. Lunars my favorite game of all time. I got it on Mega CD, Sega CD, Saturn, Saturn Mpeg, PSX working design. Im missing the impossably hard to find pc version and the japanese gba version :(
  • disgaea 3, Demon soul, White Knight Chronicles, eternal sonata ps3 version is better (has more content)

thats all ps3 rpgs I know so far

  • Only 2 of those games are real tradiational rpgs and 2 of them arent even out in english. Unless your japanese professinate your not gonna get much fun out of white knight chronicles. Demon Soul has english subs so you might be able to.

  • out of those u mentioned I only played eternal sonata because it resembles kingdom hearts in many ways. but the spirit of a true rpg has already passed away. no present console has ever hosted a game with much magic like my favorite classics such as final fantasy 4 and chrono trigger. games today put more empahisis on graphics and action packed gameplay instead of the story. those who tries to do it however receives negative reviews. like lost oddysey.

  • Yes, I admite games dont try to focus on story and graphic play a larger part in games today than they use to but, what we are seeing is progression in battle systems. FFXIII has a really fun mix of a classic and new battle system and very enjoyable to play. Star Ocean 4 has a great battle system too. Rpg's arent dead per say just this is a very experimental era. Maybe by next gen when the graphic jump isnt that huge they will be grounded and focus on character devolopement and stories again.

  • Dont forget nostalga plays a huge part in us loving our old school rpgs too.

  • that's online dude. I dont think online rpg games are that good.

  • No clue what game you're talking about being online. I've defanitly played ff13 and it doesnt have blood not that it would matter if it did. It would be more realistic and that what games are going towards.

FFXIII demo comes with the Japanese blu ray of FF7 Advent Childern Complete.

  • realistic huh. In my point of view rpg games are not supposed to be realistic. rpg games are magical where the player may feel a feeling that he is in another world and he can do things he cant do in the real world. those who aimed for realistic games made some of today's well known games such as GTA rainbow six etc. do you want rpg's to be like that?

  • those stupid Xbox360 players want their blood & guts. That's what Uncle Bill (Gates) has programmed into their heads. SAD!!

  • I doubt it. most gamers today hates stories. they want games that is full of gore and violence just like gears of war and halo. I have them Lol. I remember when children used to get smarter by playing videogames unlike now which is the total opposite. hey news flash. final fantasy 13 will have blood. look what is happening in our beloved rpg genre today?

  • I thought the PC version was canned ... not sure though; but yeah, they're making a PSP version ... and there's talk of it already being localized here in the US by GaijinWorks (a localization company with old Working Designs crew members).

  • I agree with you. just like xbox360 today

  • yeah I agree that's good. but too much emphasis on that causes a game to be action packed. In my point of view, I believe that a game should either be action packed or mind twisting but it can't be both. rpg games of today are more focused on gameplay and realism because most gamers demand that. I played fable and it was good. but not as good as rpg games of the past.

  • There's up to three fights. What most people do is go through the first two and let him help in the third one, so they can get the XP.

  • The music is the same noob lol

  • It's the same, but sounds clearer.

  • i wish you showed the events after the battle... but yeah i agree with the more silly than skilled part...

  • The music... it's so much superior to my Playstation version.

Now I understand better why some people said that the Saturn counterpart of the Lunar games had better music.

This makes the battle music more bearable than the PSX version's.

  • *cough* more silly than skilled.. I couldn't believe after all this fight you really do need Laike to give you a hand in order to progress so it was all for naught.

  • nice ur really skilled
