@austinguy23 Nah, I've had my love affair with the P99 series. I'd rather spend my money on something different now. I don't know why everyone loves the PPQ so much and never noticed the P99. I also don't think it looks as cool. But I've only held one, never shot one. IMO, they kinda just took out the features that made the P99 unique and made it like every other striker fired pistol, but I guess that's what everyone wants.
@gotthepanzershreck It would be easier to find accessories for the USP; however, you'd have to get a rail adapter or proprietary accessories that fit the USP rail (Same goes for Gen 1 P99, but if it's a newer P99 you shouldn't have to worry about that). Magazines are also about twice as much for the USP. It depends on what you want though. Even if one gun is more practical, you may not like it if it's not what you want.
@FirstPistolSammy I haven't had nearly as much shooting experience with the USP, but I've never had a problem with it. I've never done "torture" tests of either one though. The P99 QA has had a few light strikes (though the AS never did). P99 is smaller. USP is a tad big, but the 9mm version is smaller than the .45 that I've shot. Honestly, I'm not that great of a shot with HKs for whatever reason, so I'm better with the Walthers.
@Riflemanm16a2 Maintenance is probably very similar because they both have Browning style actions. Finding parts for an HK is probably easier though (I've never looked). The only major difference in design is USP's are hammer fired and P99's are striker fired. Also the USP has a couple trigger options too: there's DA/SA and LEM. USP's also have the safety/decocker on the side. So you have a lot of carry options (Safety on/single action, safety on/double action, just double action).
thanks so much for comparing the 1st gen to the other gen p99s...your the only video I came across that has done that, by doing so you helped make up my mine. Thanks
On a FAQ website, it recommends using 124gr bullets for the first 300 shots, to break in the recoil spring. Did you do something similar? If so, did it result in fewer malfunctions when switching to lower grain bullets? If not, did you encounter more ejection malfunctions? Also, have you used the HKS speed loader on these magazines? If so, which model works for them? Sorry for the overload of questions...
@pokebreaker I've never had ejection problems with any P99, and I've shot four of them. The 9mm in this video is the one I've shot the most. The only problem I've had with it was a couple of light strikes, which were probably ammo related. I always load magazines by hand, so I don't know anything about HKS speed loaders.
@druizsr A light strike happens when the firing pin does not fall with enough force to ignite the primer of the cartridge. Basically, you pull the trigger, and the gun doesn't fire; it just dents the primer.
Has anyone used the Baby Eagle "Fast Action" from Magnum Research? It's more or less a clone of the P99, with a Walther made frame and other parts made by MR. I'm wondering if the quality is the same or better, I'm considering getting one.
@Spectre426 I held one once. All I could think was "WTF?" I haven't heard much about them though. I consider them an abomination; the P99 variants are getting out of hand. Walther should just pick something and stick with it.
I have no idea what kind of quality you could expect from one however. The only MR gun I've shot is a Jericho 941 (Baby Eagle as opposed to the Baby _Desert_ Eagle, which is the P99); it's pretty solid except for a slightly defective safety.
@PsalmsOfPlanets072 The music? Thr3e the movie? That was actually from an episode of The Young and the Restless like seven years ago, lol. It sounds crappy because I recorded it on tape and then my computer.
@Riflemanm16a2 How do you like that gun? I was looking for one before and its hard to find it, do you know if they make it in .45acp? I would by one in a heart beat if it does.
I really enjoy these two P99s. If you get one, I suggest the AS trigger. Most people don't like the QA. The P99 has the best decocker and slide release IMO: easy to get to but don't get in the way. I highly recommend these guns. It's also nice to have a gun that few others have. Accessories are hard to find though.
Unfortunately, they only come in 9mm Para. and .40 S&W. If you want a .45 ACP, you can try to find an SW99; they come in .45, but I think they only have 8 or 9 round magazines.
Love the gun. Anyone who says anything bad about Walther is just plain gay. As far as capacity goes, that's why I love XD. Does anyone else offer 13+ .45 ACP?
@bisquik3006 Haha, hating Walther is gay. I think most people's beef with them is S&W's involvement. I can't recall how big the XD45 is, but I think the newer FNP45's have a 15 + 1 capacity of .45 ACP, but I really do prefer the XD to the FNP (in my very limited experience with them). The FNP45 is a pretty honkin' gun though, so it might not be a good comparison.
@Riflemanm16a2 Yeah, that FNP seems to be a bit of a beast. My XD is 13+1. I guess the only way that benefits me is less reloading when i'm screwing around. I certainlly don't think it takes that many .45's to make someone stop what they are doing, lol.
You going to get the PPQ? Everyone keeps gushing about it..

@Riflemanm16a2
I too debating a USP or P99 but in 9mm. (rec shooting, defense or SHTF etc)
With your experience:
1.Which one seems to be more reliable ?(or can take a beating, mud sand etc.)
2. Also which one is more accurate/easy to shoot with? ( i know this vary person to person and practice but meh)
3. Lasty which one is a less maintenance?
I only can afford 1 handgun right now, and want a 9mm that would be like my "little buddy" that I can count on you know?
Thanks :)

Are the magazines Single or Double Stack? I assume double, based off the appearance, but I prefer to ask.
