Hv u ever REALLY tried their legacy VGA cards? Or had u juz started off recently with the later versions of ATi only? Like I said...mine was through experience. Not sure I started off on GeForce 256 or ATi's Rage Pro first, on the very PC I'd bought a decade ago.
The VGA cooler add-on seems to almost double the card's size in height. How well does it fit in the case? Would a mid-tower work, or would you recommend full-tower?
my ATI Radeon 4850 [gigabyte] with zalman cooler that came stock with it doesn't get hotter than 60°C and its overclocked [gpu from 625mhz to 700mhz and memory from 993mhz to 1053mhz] and i love it [idle temp is 36°C]
Me 2...Nvidia lover here. And a proud owner of MX-2, FX5200, FX6800, 8600GT, 8800GT and 275GTX. I' d always had so much problems with ATi. Not bias ATi, but through experience.
Picked one up today. Used ur vid to install it properly. Only difference was I was using the Diamond 4850. Same thing, different sticker...Kudos on 4:40-5:00. I was like "WTF" trying to get that last sink on.
The only thing buyers should be concerned about is the glue on the ram coolers. It's kinda kife. Had to get a glue stick and add a bit more to hold them in place properly. Runs quiet as ever. Went from a 75c idle to a 40c idle. Can barely hear the fans at 100%. This beast DOES take space!
I think I'll get one one this week , my video card is kind of burning and sounds like an jetplane . I play dirt2 with 100% fan speed , but it reaches 100C, new cooler is a must!
well any thing over 100 makes me shit my pants. now my card CAN do 110, thats the max before it frys permenatly, so any thing 100+ i freak out. if find that nvidia cards are always hot. hell my 9800gt has NO ram sinks. ati is cooler. and right now ati is on top with the 5970, DX11 (nvidia does not have DX11)
anyway, buy yout overpriced (they are look at the equivevnets like a 9800gt is like a 4670) and the ati will be cheaper every time.
My GPU right now is not even 50C, on load it doesn't even get anywhere close to 100C.
The only cooling my card has is the little stock fan.
Good for ATI, granted nothing is DX11 yet, except maybe a game or 2, most games are barely DX10.
Actually, my card was about $65, and I hope to get a better card soon, for free, friend is sending me a new video card, well, for what I do, it's perfect, I been looking up games using this card, and it's perfect.
I buy what I need, not some overpowered card, that does more than what I need it to, if I can play Crysis, I am good.
My new card I hope to have soon is an 8800GT, and it plays Crysis just fine, on higher resolutions than I play at, so for me, it will be superb, I am not a hardcore gamer.
LOL I find the long shots and music in this video hilarious, but anyway buy this GPU Cooler if you're in the market for one. I got mine brand spankin' new off eBay for $36 US.
My XFX 9800 GT used to idle at 56C and max out at 90C. Now my temps are, I shit you not, 37C idle/52C max (Overclocked at 700MHz Core/1000 MHz Memory).
Quite uninformative, long, boring and with excessive shots from different angles. There's no info, the viewer has to rely on the somewhat low quality visuals for everything. How are the ramsinks fastened? Why are there no shots from the actual fastening of the heatsink? Did the heatsink fit the 4850 or not? It seemed like one ramsink didn't quite fit but in the end the viewer never finds out if this is a problem or not.
I won't complain about the music, since everyone has different taste.
my original sound was muted by youtube, hence the music, it's audioswap thing, but anyways, this is not a review video, just showing what i got and as much info i can provide after night shift etc, don't take it too seriously man, not like i have a sponsor.
does this work for the 8600gtx nivida graphics card series?, as i need to know as where i am living in australia it can get up to 40-50 degrees outside and i need a better heatsink.
Im from australia too mate, 50C would be absolutely unbearable and unlivable, i can agree 40c in some places but like the max you would get in major cities or towns would be around 32-34c
yeah it actually doesn't take much to cool a GPU, but as hardware gets cheaper, the material it use become cheaper, many stock coolers are nothing but "operational" purposes
how did you get the ram sinks to stick? mine just fall off. i cleaned em off with rubbing alcohol before-hand, and even tried the eraser method, no dice.
hey the fans have two 3-pin fan connectors, but doesnt the HD4850 only have one connector? I am asking because i have a 4850 and i wanna buy this cooler
oh so even if it is plugged in the power supply, it will still be able to be controlled in with overdrive? I didn't know that lol, i thought it had to be plugged into the GPU
no no , i was saying, u have 2 options, use the adapter that comes with the cooler and connect to the video card's pcb board, or use molex power, adapter u can control, molex no
I swear i hate this song as muhc as u, damn, i don't even know this song i picked (used random pick after youtube disable my audio) freaking changing it right now
It has more fins and is physically smaller than an S1 I believe. It also has the mounting holes of both the S1 and S2. Therefore fits smaller and bigger cards.

the video card is to 6pin PCIE from psu, and the fan is connected to the video card, it can also be connected to psu by using the molex adapter that came with the package
that's what i mean about low quality, it came like that, probably bad quality control, but then again, it's cheaper cooler, Part 2 is up testing results are there
Great Vid, Now that im making 650$ a month i'm gonna be able to buy much more from you for my computer :P Be ready! i might randomly call you up >:] Grats on the new part!! Ttyl~

I've installed this cooler on my Sapphire HD4850.
What issues did you run into with the RAM and VRM coolers?
Did you end up editing the GPU BIOS to get the fans going or do you just use apps to control them?
Crittique 1 year ago
when i had the 4850 i modded the fan speed, but not from bios , just the profile
tricccple 1 year ago
Dunno if this will help (n00b), but I thought that the fans control themselves as long as you power them directly from the PSU rather than the card.
legendarytomuk 1 year ago
@legendarytomuk
Yes the fans will be at a constant 100% fan speed if connected via 4pin molex with no variable fan control what so ever.
If there is a power connector available to the card then well......should use it.
Editing the GPU BIOS in RBE and flashing the card with ATiWinFlash did the job.
Crittique 1 year ago
You think it will fit a 5870? and if you think it will fit a midtower using 2 5870's combined with CrossfireX?

i'm not sure if it fits that, but about having 2 cards in mid tower case it's the matterof the design on pcie slots
