Some great comments, one more for the mix, fucking excellent playing man. I don't give a flying fuck whether the timing is perfect, you rocked my world man. Rawk On \m/
This is definitely one of the best rock tones that I have heard ! I have always had a soft spot for Les Paul Deluxes ( because of Thin Lizzy ) and it is a pleasure to hear a good example like this.
lol...cant really say much...half the time on stage Page would fudge up on 4 or 5 notes in a row...i remember one time he completely screwed up an entire part and just looked at Plant laughing...good times
Dude, that really good. And its not like your timing is bad, it just needs a little more practice. Dont mind what ablablass said, he obviously is jealous of you, your really really good!
not everythg calls for barre chords in fact they are way over-played, the way i can usually tell an inexperienced guitarist is by the way he handles chords, not always playing on all 6 strings & barre chording everythg. There is a time & place for barre chords, but its way-over-used...
Aside from that random observation, I love that guitar and the tone you're getting from the mini-buckers. Always wanted to try an LP with minibuckers...
This is just a suggestion, nothing to feel bad about or anything :) = Your timing need som work, and put some more time on phrasing, and the notes in the chord are something to think about instead of thinking in scales.
Enjoy the holidays and keep em videos rolling and licks running
My timing has always sucked, not a natural you see, what you hear are years of playing rather than natural talent! Mostly in think in "tunes" rather than scales, but hey, perhaps an old dog can learn new tricks....
Everything just needs time and pratice, I'm also having problems with my timing, it's not easy, but I guess knowing about the problem cam make you solve it :)
The main thing is to enjoy the music and have fun, I just gave MY suggestions, but you propably know the best what you want!
I don't think there is natural talent, only hours and hours of pratice :D
Actually when it comes to timing I'd disagree, I know chaps that have perfect timing, they don't have any effort, it's just there. However, you usually find that the good guitarists have put the time in too :)
@guitarbyron Don't kid yourself...those chaps that seem to have "perfect" timing have spent a lot of time practicing as well. It's true that some people have it and some people need to work harder at it...but we all need to keep our chops up, even the pros.
hi. i'm no teacher, and your playin' is far faster than mine. But, about the timing question : you could maybe try to sing your solo. usually, it helps to stay more naturly (?) "in" the music. and, sometimes, it makes you play less "automatically" those fast scales.
but it's just a suggestion... by the way, nice work on sound, including others videos you've done.
wow this is awesome man! i like the improvise in the solo... and you an amazing amazing feel.. and freat guitar as well! keep rockin! you can check my channel if you would like..:)
I have a Les Paul Deluxe too, Black, all original except tuners, not sure of date, I think it is 70 something , stamp no. 73048663, bought it back in late 70's,($500) would like to know worth todays market. Always loved the sound full and raw. Thanks
The Deluxe's are just starting to pickup in value, they weren't the best that Gibson ever made sadly, but I'd think that it would fetch around $2000 now depending on condition....
I would have preferred those too, but it came with one original and one Seymour Duncan, they didn't work well together so I bought another SD, guitar still lacked something to me....
It was I think a 2004, the old ones were seemingly horrid. I tried a few, and I have to agree they were not as good as I would have liked from a Gibson...
I've heard it called "freeform" before. It's based around Pentatonic (I found out many years after learning by trial and error) with a few odd notes thrown in I would think. As you may have guessed, I'm not a technical guitarist :)
Thanks for that. I usually aim for something that is it a little bit familiar, but with my own twist, otherwise what's the point, go listen to the original! Plus my ear isn't good enough to copy someone else :)
Depends, if you want a Cream sound, go to the Humbuckers, if you want a more single coil-is tone but have some of the fatness of w humbucker and a mahogany guitar, go with the deluxe
WOW! Awesome tone! I don't know a lot about Cornford amp... are they boutique? Can they do good clean to good very high gain? even at low volume.... thanks!
The SM's have more output for sure, it could be that the stock pickups lack "potting", hence the feedback you experience, although all guitars will feedback if the volume/drive is high enough and the guitar is close to the speaker. You learn to use that for feedback sustain :)
Well, I haven't heard a wrong note, that didn't fit to the song, so you did very well!! Did you prepare some licks, or did you make them up before you did this video, or did you improvise just everything?
Hehe, you didn't hear the outtakes ;) I only prepared the opening few notes to mimic the original, the rest was whatever came along. I was never very good at copying others solo's, I always preferred to aim for the "feel" or "essence" of where they were aiming for originally. That's not to say that I don't practise or know scales, I just don't necessarily know what the names are ;)
Hi dude, great sound! I just bought a Gibson deluxe and I realize that my bridge pickup is not "that hot", maybe I should change it, what seymours did you use? thanks!
looks like he has seymour duncan firebird in the neck cant see the bridge though, i put seymour duncan antiquity firebird bridge in me les paul, sounds mint
Hi there....they are actually SM3's in both positions. I really wanted to put the antiquity's in but couldn't bring myself to spend the money. The stock pickup was a bit too weak for me...
Hi dude, I just got the two seymours SM3s, but my luthier recommend me don't change to this because he say that the sound is going to be same weak and with lot of feedback with high distortion, does it happen to you? thanks for the advice! best.
I took out the stock pickup because it was too weak. The SM3's are almost as powerful as the burstbuckers, but with a brighter sound (compare in my vids). I haven't noticed any feedback in rehearsals....
As I don't have the time to practise the amount I would like, it's always a compromise of feel against mistakes. For me at the moment, it's more feeling = mistakes! This track was a reasonable balance :)
nice guitar, has good sound!

makes a high pitch sound kind of like a feedback but

does the guitar gets better?

nowitsdone 3 years ago
The SM's have more output for sure, it could be that the stock pickups lack "potting", hence the feedback you experience, although all guitars will feedback if the volume/drive is high enough and the guitar is close to the speaker. You learn to use that for feedback sustain :)
guitarbyron 3 years ago
yes i know that for sure but this is just not a sustain feedback or that kind of feedback thats the sad thing =(!
is an annoying high pitch sound aside with the feedback
and it does it more in the neck pickup.
anyways im buying the SD's
for the output.
