  • nice guitar, has good sound!

  • which pickups do you use ? Sm2 and Sm1 combination or something else ?

  • Some great comments, one more for the mix, fucking excellent playing man. I don't give a flying fuck whether the timing is perfect, you rocked my world man. Rawk On \m/

  • Good job, keep on rock'in that's all! \m/ \m/

  • This is definitely one of the best rock tones that I have heard ! I have always had a soft spot for Les Paul Deluxes ( because of Thin Lizzy ) and it is a pleasure to hear a good example like this.

  • Man after listening to your lp deluxe my custom just doesn't seem to cut through. Is yours an original? Does it have the pancake body?

  • lol...cant really say much...half the time on stage Page would fudge up on 4 or 5 notes in a row...i remember one time he completely screwed up an entire part and just looked at Plant laughing...good times

  • Dude, that really good. And its not like your timing is bad, it just needs a little more practice. Dont mind what ablablass said, he obviously is jealous of you, your really really good!

  • not everythg calls for barre chords in fact they are way over-played, the way i can usually tell an inexperienced guitarist is by the way he handles chords, not always playing on all 6 strings & barre chording everythg. There is a time & place for barre chords, but its way-over-used...

  • is that a black cherry finish ? its beautiful

  • wats wrong with the timing. jealousy can really get the better of people.

  • exelente!!! me puedes enviar las tablaturas porfavor!!!

  • Amazing playing. I wish I could pull something like that off the top of my head!

  • What finish is that? The visible part looks very nice! ;D

  • 6,5,4 most fun chord progresion ever!

sick playing, and nice camera angle too.

  • Great playing man, I'm loving that tone.

  • has anybody tried any of the dimarzio mini humbuckers?

  • good

  • Very nice tone. I actually don't think the timing is really badly off. It just adds a bit of tension. :)

  • do you have any tabs??

    you're such a good player!!

If you have any tab could you send me them??

    keep on rockin

  • Your fingers look really tensed up :[

Aside from that random observation, I love that guitar and the tone you're getting from the mini-buckers. Always wanted to try an LP with minibuckers...

  • Those SD's sound awesome! Nice job!

  • What amp/effects did you use? Loved your tone man, love those old deluxes.

  • Nothing wrong with timing here :)

  • thats an amazingly beastly improv with a very nice guitar! i like your style!

  • very very nice sound

  • ey man, very nice improv !Very very nice!

Just, you use a backingtrack no ?can you send me?

  • Nice improv Man! Always enjoy different approaches other than the original....original has already been done!

  • id kill for your guitars

  • its the stairway solo

  • page was actually a little off on the original so you nailed it!

  • dman you nailed kimmy pages tone on that song, that thing sounds incredible, may i ask you what pickups you are using?

  • If its a Deluxe it has minibuckers if I ever was going to get a Les Paul I would want to track down a Deluxe.

  • this is awesome

i give you 5 stars and what a sexy les paul.

    your lucky to have one

    ROCK ON !!!!!!

  • Nice playing

This is just a suggestion, nothing to feel bad about or anything :) = Your timing need som work, and put some more time on phrasing, and the notes in the chord are something to think about instead of thinking in scales.

Enjoy the holidays and keep em videos rolling and licks running

  • My timing has always sucked, not a natural you see, what you hear are years of playing rather than natural talent! Mostly in think in "tunes" rather than scales, but hey, perhaps an old dog can learn new tricks....

  • Everything just needs time and pratice, I'm also having problems with my timing, it's not easy, but I guess knowing about the problem cam make you solve it :)

The main thing is to enjoy the music and have fun, I just gave MY suggestions, but you propably know the best what you want!

I don't think there is natural talent, only hours and hours of pratice :D

  • Actually when it comes to timing I'd disagree, I know chaps that have perfect timing, they don't have any effort, it's just there. However, you usually find that the good guitarists have put the time in too :)

  • @guitarbyron Don't kid yourself...those chaps that seem to have "perfect" timing have spent a lot of time practicing as well. It's true that some people have it and some people need to work harder at it...but we all need to keep our chops up, even the pros.

  • @guitarbyron

i think that your timing wasn't that bad for such a complex solo. I tried learning this when i first started playing and failed epicly lol

  • @guitarbyron

hi. i'm no teacher, and your playin' is far faster than mine. But, about the timing question : you could maybe try to sing your solo. usually, it helps to stay more naturly (?) "in" the music. and, sometimes, it makes you play less "automatically" those fast scales.

but it's just a suggestion... by the way, nice work on sound, including others videos you've done.

  • @guitarbyron Wow don't be so humble! You're pretty good lol.

  • @JoeRunaway dude it is called a cover its suppost to be there own version u need to feel the music not just copy it

  • @JoeRunaway Hey, Look at Jimmy Page... He did'nt have perfect timing either! In fact, most of the time, he plated pretty slopy.

  • Every 20 of january great things are made... Look at me !

  • What a stupid thing to say, of course I spent 30 years learning to solo before progressing to barre chords doh!

  • @ablablass not everyone has to conform to your idiotic way of playing guitar

  • Come on man its Christmas lol

  • @ablablass the 489 characters youtube allows me to post is not even close to the amount i could write regarding the stupidity of that statement.

  • @ablablass Even Jimmy Page himself played the F chord like guitarbyron did!

  • take it easy there jimmy...your gonna take the rock world by storm

  • You rock

  • GREAT PLAYING AND SICK TONE! what year is that beauty?

  • That was kick ASS man!!! I love the improv stuff and you Rocked it out!!!!!!!!!

  • wow this is awesome man! i like the improvise in the solo... and you an amazing amazing feel.. and freat guitar as well! keep rockin! you can check my channel if you would like..:)

  • hey man wat kind of strings r those?

  • Which Seymour Duncan mini-buckers, specifically? Love the tone.

  • I have a Les Paul Deluxe too, Black, all original except tuners, not sure of date, I think it is 70 something , stamp no. 73048663, bought it back in late 70's,($500) would like to know worth todays market. Always loved the sound full and raw. Thanks

  • The Deluxe's are just starting to pickup in value, they weren't the best that Gibson ever made sadly, but I'd think that it would fetch around $2000 now depending on condition....

  • love that solo!!!

  • Glad you enjoyed...

  • lot of :stairway to heaven" solo in this :P

  • Of course!

  • Nice improv. What string gauge is that?

  • Cheers, those would have been 10's.

  • gorgeous tone man good job

  • Thanks dude...

  • what model seymour duncan does it have in it?

  • he still has the original mini humbuckers.

  • I would have preferred those too, but it came with one original and one Seymour Duncan, they didn't work well together so I bought another SD, guitar still lacked something to me....

  • beautiful guitar my brother has one from 76 that i love same color.

  • It was a looker for sure, but didn't quite cut it as a player sadly..

  • So ... Very nice playing !

  • Thanks!

  • you have a tabs ?

  • Sorry, I don't do tabs, either reading or writing...

  • good improv

  • Cheers!

  • Thanks!

  • You play very well. Very inventive, too. Congrats.

Please, let me know which of your guitars is the easiest to play for you.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks very much! By far the easiest to play is the Brian May.....

  • GOOD!

  • not bad thats was good but y not the original solo

  • is that a vintage deluxe or the new ones

  • It was I think a 2004, the old ones were seemingly horrid. I tried a few, and I have to agree they were not as good as I would have liked from a Gibson...

  • what about the neck pickup , how is it sounds?

  • Ok, but not as good as the bridge pickup. Same for the stock pickup too though...

  • god im surprised how far behind the vos this delux sounds now after watching your vids...

  • That's why it's no longer with me, still a good guitar though. The VOS just has that "Vibe" though..

  • No pedals used? this is the sound pure from the deluxe les paul and the cornford?

  • Correct, no pedals, just some reverb and echo from my desk.

  • That must be the best improvisation I´ve ever seen!

You must serouisly say what scales you are using.

  • I've heard it called "freeform" before. It's based around Pentatonic (I found out many years after learning by trial and error) with a few odd notes thrown in I would think. As you may have guessed, I'm not a technical guitarist :)

  • I think you are a brilliant guitarist.

    Keep up the good work;)

  • Very kind thank you...

  • what are your amp setting like treble bass mids and gain

  • the amp only has treble and bass, both set to 7, drive on 8 master on 2.

  • Nice to see your own style coming through on that . TOo many dudes try to note fo note and it doesnt work

  • Thanks for that. I usually aim for something that is it a little bit familiar, but with my own twist, otherwise what's the point, go listen to the original! Plus my ear isn't good enough to copy someone else :)

  • wow you play very good.. Wish I can play like you someday :)

  • All it is practise, how long you have to practise will depend on you, for me it was ages! :)

  • Les Paul+Cornford= instantly amazing woody tone

    great taste on tone amigo!!!!!

  • Thank you kindly....

  • thanks amazing. Is it good for sweet clean blues-tones?

  • Not as good as the VOS, but not bad...

  • Depends, if you want a Cream sound, go to the Humbuckers, if you want a more single coil-is tone but have some of the fatness of w humbucker and a mahogany guitar, go with the deluxe

  • Wow!.

Great tone, but more importantly great playing!. Great phrasing, reminds me so much of jimmy. Go you :D

  • Great to hear that, many thanks....

  • hi mate..

how do you think this les paul compares to your 58 vos?? like can gett all the tones this lp gives you with the 58??

    cheers..

  • No, that guitar wasn't in the same class as the 58, still good, but the 58 is special (IMHO).

  • do you know wich seymur duncan minis are?

    the seymourized or the vintage??

I'm changing the bridge one because the one it comes sucks.

  • dude you rock!

  • You are pretty cool too matey....

  • Nice version, I have just bought that Cornford, it really is impressive. My les paul sounds so nice as do my strats.

  • Perhaps you would like to send me one so that I can evaluate it for everyone!

  • WOW! Awesome tone! I don't know a lot about Cornford amp... are they boutique? Can they do good clean to good very high gain? even at low volume.... thanks!

Keep on rockin this les paul!

  • Yes, boutique, hand wired, lovely amp. From completely clean to totally overdriven at low volume, great for home, or studio.

  • i see u got seymourduncan mini humbuckers in that les paul .............gives a nice sound

  • Yeah it was pretty good guitar for sure....

  • i can c that it gives a really full and rich tone

  • A Master at work!!!

  • Not a Master, long way to go before I'd think like that, but glad you liked it!

  • I love your tone so much. And your playing of course! Would you mind telling me how much that amp cost you?

    Daan.

  • I think I paid £400 used....

  • Holy crap, that's fucking awesome

  • dude post a vid on how to play this

  • really nice solo- recognizable but " in your own words"

  • keep rockin on dude

  • i have a question.....do you have a son named nick?? cause i swear his dad has that guitar and idk... just askin haha

  • Wow! Excellent! Nice playing and sound! very good vibratos and technic!Beautiful Les Paul :D 5/5 stars.

  • wow nicee vid.

how hard was to chance the PU's

im thinking in getting this since the stocks

makes a high pitch sound kind of like a feedback but

useless i cant stand next to my amp at 12 o'clock

    does the guitar gets better?

    thankyou!

  • The SM's have more output for sure, it could be that the stock pickups lack "potting", hence the feedback you experience, although all guitars will feedback if the volume/drive is high enough and the guitar is close to the speaker. You learn to use that for feedback sustain :)

  • yes i know that for sure but this is just not a sustain feedback or that kind of feedback thats the sad thing =(!

is an annoying high pitch sound aside with the feedback

and it does it more in the neck pickup.

    anyways im buying the SD's

    for the output.

  • sounds awesome, I think it would have sounded cooler with the neck pickup, but that is just my humble opinion. :)

  • have you ever tried the sm2

  • Sorry, no only the stock pickup and the SM3...

  • Where'd you get the rhythm track?

  • It was given to me by a friend years ago on CD, think they went on to be the total accuracy folks...

  • amazing tone, loved it

  • My pleasure, glad you liked it...

  • Great improvisations, and so much feel!! What scale are you using?

  • Is it the A Aeolian scale?

  • My theory is pretty shaky, I play what I think sounds right, that works most of the time....

  • Well, I haven't heard a wrong note, that didn't fit to the song, so you did very well!! Did you prepare some licks, or did you make them up before you did this video, or did you improvise just everything?

  • Hehe, you didn't hear the outtakes ;) I only prepared the opening few notes to mimic the original, the rest was whatever came along. I was never very good at copying others solo's, I always preferred to aim for the "feel" or "essence" of where they were aiming for originally. That's not to say that I don't practise or know scales, I just don't necessarily know what the names are ;)

  • Hi dude, great sound! I just bought a Gibson deluxe and I realize that my bridge pickup is not "that hot", maybe I should change it, what seymours did you use? thanks!

  • looks like he has seymour duncan firebird in the neck cant see the bridge though, i put seymour duncan antiquity firebird bridge in me les paul, sounds mint

  • I'd have loved to used those, but was also worried that they might lack the drive of the SD's.

  • Hi there....they are actually SM3's in both positions. I really wanted to put the antiquity's in but couldn't bring myself to spend the money. The stock pickup was a bit too weak for me...

  • Hi dude, I just got the two seymours SM3s, but my luthier recommend me don't change to this because he say that the sound is going to be same weak and with lot of feedback with high distortion, does it happen to you? thanks for the advice! best.

  • I took out the stock pickup because it was too weak. The SM3's are almost as powerful as the burstbuckers, but with a brighter sound (compare in my vids). I haven't noticed any feedback in rehearsals....

  • yeah!!!!!!! zepp :)

  • a lot of feeling xD very nice

  • As I don't have the time to practise the amount I would like, it's always a compromise of feel against mistakes. For me at the moment, it's more feeling = mistakes! This track was a reasonable balance :)

  • Thanks very much....

  • Love the tone mate!!
