  • I had the same problem with a GS 350 lexus. the dealer never fixed insted I went to auto zone and buy these pads that have like fabric on the back insted of the regular metal shims. And that took care of it it cost me $144.00 front and back.

  • NEW BRAKEPADS OR YOU NEED NEW CALIBER

  • I have the exact same problem with my VW Jetta, did you know what was going on?? or does anyone know where its coming from and how to fix it?????????????? HELP

  • This is a easy fix. all you need is about a hour time, jack up the car remove tire, 14mm reanch needed to remove brake claper. remove pads and get special ceramic brake grease ( at any auto parts house for 1.00) apply grease to BACK side of the pads, around the rubber boot in the claper and any top and bottom of the pad where metal touches metal.DO NOT PUT ANY GREASE ON THE PAD OR ROTOR ITSELF. very easy and cheap I had this same problem on my new camery after replacing my pads.

  • air in the brake fluid.

  • Ok my Mazda 3 started doing something like this just after I had the brakes on in rush hour traffic. They replaced everthing.

What was happening with your car? Did you find out?

  • There's a lot of break problems with the IS. Ours is a 2008 and it's squeaking so much

  • Check the trunk, sounds like a whale is in there.

  • it sounds like the lexus is crying.

  • I think it's the brake shim

  • my ford f-150 has never done this and its a '94. built ford tough.

  • @VALVe629 YEAH BILT FORD TOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I had the same exact problem with a 2007 Sienna lol

  • sounds pretty much like a wale lol

  • I had my Merc doing that all the time (in drive on the highway and in reverse.). I had to replace the whole braking system. Pads, rotors, calipers and master cylinder. Than I had it power bleed at Midas. It fixed it all up. This could be from a pad out of place or a rock between the pad and rotor.

  • @gayimgay106 no. its everyday wear&tear on the brakes and the car has 165,000 miles on we got new brakes and it stoped

  • our 06 accord does this too

  • Our Mitsubishi does the same thing when going in reverse. I believe it's the rust on the rear brake pads.

  • This video helped me solve the problem at the dealership. I had already been to the dealership 2 times with no luck. After finding this video, I had the Service Manager watch it to describe my problem. The problem was corrected with the R&R Rear Brake Pads & DISC Caliper Bracket (Both sides) T1-36 T299. Seems Lexus knew that there was a problem & that a retrofit needed to be done on the 2007 Lexus ES. So use this information when trying to get it fixed at the dealership.

  • my rear pads make the same noise while in reverse but the pads are really worn and will be replaced in a few weeks on the service, did you ever find out what the problem was ?

  • @FoxIslandman I see, but one thing is that here in Canada, I won't see a dry spell of rain for ATLEAST another 5-6 months what should I do? My car never made that noise last winter.

  • @FoxIslandman I have a '99 Acura RL it makes the same noise only in reverse, like the video, I live in Alberta and this only came up recently, winter time, and sadly yes lots of salt, would you say it's my back brakes? I took a quick glance through the rim without taking anything off and the rear brakes looked like it had some rust on them, but i do carefully spray inside the rims whenever i wash my car.

  • sounds like a mess up rotor

  • My girlfriend had this problem on the rx. The thing is she forgot to release the parking brake (somebody engaged it, because she never uses it and one of her friends driven the car that day) First - horrible smell, then exactly the same sound. We had to change the brake pads and disks as well

  • Fuck a mac book

  • it sound like your emergency cable is stuck on or break calliper is stuck on one side

does the car seem to be holding back any at all like the breaks are somewhat on??

  • i like to eat poop

  • Are you sure you dont have a dying Armadillo in the car somewhere?

  • check the handbrake...im pretty sure it has something to do with that..

  • check to see if the hand brake is engaged or something to do with the handbrake....

  • damm that is loud i would never buy lexus if i had this kind of problem . Buy a hyundai genesis its a better buy if u dont care too much for a badge because thats what lexus is charging u for .

  • i have the exact same model and year. same issue. i concur that it is annoying, but it doesnt seem to be dangerous or fixable. lexus dealership gave me deer in headlights look.

  • Check the wheel bearings/

  • wow damn that is loud!

  • i know a dude from youtube who has a toyota and the same problem only 10.000 times louder...the car is also brand new

  • my 2007 makes that sound sometimes but only in reverse and certainly not to that degree. y son told me to track when it happens an it is always after it has sat out in the rain or moisture for a period of time and not driven. he says sometimes on certain rotors there can be a little rusting. i ha my rotors resurfaced ad it hasn't happened for a white

  • Ummmm! Ok. It's a Lexus. Lol

  • sounds like a whale

  • u get it fixed? did u take it to the dealer? dam this sound makes me mad comon toyota dont let us down!!!

  • have the rotors ever been replaced?

  • i have the exact same problem in my lexus es350...only in reverese and sometimes going forward

  • it's never been fixed, pads were changed, and all sorts of stuff and it still continues to do it

  • LOL... im a machanic, and this is bazar..

  • @lexusES350h I'm a tech also, I've never heard anything like it.

  • i have the same problem in my 2008 eclipse. especially in the morning.

  • my mom had that same noise in her 2004 Toyota Solara SE Sport...

  • i have the same noise on my 2010 camry when i back up

  • mate im getting the same sound from my 2000 toyota caribs rear left wheel when i break and its summer , hw to stop it lol...

  • wow it sounds like a saxophone with a bad reed lol

  • Yeah it still kinda does it but I think it's mostly just light brake rust from moisture

  • did u check all four breaks to see which one needs to be fixed?

  • moisture on break def

  • Sounds like a glazed rotor or pads

  • Judging from the weather and your temp still near cold the rotors are probably just wet or the pads rubbing off some rust while going reverse. But you'll never know. Hope you get it solved.

  • its either moisture or they didn't tighten down the caliper bolts all the way.

tell them they need to fix it now and that you better not get charged for it, because they never fixed it right.

  • may be just moisture getting on the brakes, thats what happens with my contour when it gets wet only its a lighter squeaky sound.

  • Might I ad, that maybe the brake pads need to be sprayed , or sanded, this happened to me too, I just hoisted my Mercedes up and sprayed it, and sanded it down and it was gone. And I might be getting an 2010 Lexus ES350 !!!

  • did you hear about the recall take out the floor mat on the driver side or else it can have open gas that can make you car to 100 mph

  • brake pads

  • i had the same proplem with my jeep so iwent to the delear they said the breaks were alttile dirty so i heard it was coming from the rear rights wheels so i took it off and cleand the breaks and it worked fine after that try that

    good luck!

  • maby its the brakes

  • your tire could be rubbing

  • Sticky rear brake piston. Take the rear brakes apart, clean and lube EVERY component, that should take care of it.

  • i would say moisture in the brake pads, looks like a wet day too..

it would go away after driving for a while if what i said is right.

  • the only time ive heard that sound b4 is then you leave the hand brake on..its possible that it didnt dis-engage properly

  • The handbrake isn't engaged, I even reset it a couple of times to make sure, it has to do with moisture but this is a little intense to be a little rust on brakes. I know what that sounds like and this is not it. Also for others posting comments, that's a little "update" I will be posting another video a little bit later on this

  • hmm ic well thats new to me man... good luck ..hope u get a solution

  • Yeah same here haha, thanks man

  • i think you need new brakes

  • Correction I thought you were pulling forward but you were still backing up. I still believe you have a warped rotor or the parking brake is dragging. Again couldn't tell you which one, but its definitely binding somewhere.

  • I had the same problem with my IS300 and it was the parking brake. However I heard it when you were pulling forward as well, but only when you were turning the wheel. That leads me to believe that you have a brake dragging. Couldn't tell you which one. I would start by bleeding the brakes then look at the pads and rotors. If its intermittent and at even intervals then more than likely you have a warped rotor. Hope this helps.

  • Some cars which have disk rear brakes have shoes inside them for the E brake. The noise sounds exactly like shoes sticking on a drum.

  • I had a Ford Escape hybrid that had the same problem. After working directly with Ford and numerous visits it was determined a nuissance and never fixed. That is why I drive an Infiniti and absolutely love it. Good luck.

  • Probably from the moisture on the brakes or in the air. Does it go away after a while when dry? The sound you hear is from the pads exciting a certain vibration in the rotors. That low tone is only achieved at a slow speed.

What type of pads are on there? Ceramic? semi-metallic? Try changing types. Another thing that may fix the problem (at least temporarily) is machining the rotors.

  • Comment removed

  • Did you Check the Parking brake shoe?

  • It could be something rubbing when your backing up have some one back the car up while you look behind it. Determine if its coming from the front or the rear !

  • it sounds like a whale

  • It almost sounds like the calipers are binding up.

  • sounds like the rotors.. maybe they are accumulating rust...?

  • Lexus should be ashamed of themselves

  • it could becuase it really wet or need new breaks

  • aww does youer 50k car have problem lol

  • I really believe that's because of the rain as i can see the road is wet and when water goes between the brakes it makes this sound when you try to brake.I know this because that's what was happening when i was using my bicycle during rain days and when i was trying to brake a horrible noise similar to yours occurred i don't know though how to stop that :) Cheers.

  • maybe the pads havent beded in. Or it could be the front pads.

  • Thats easy. You have a Wale in the boot.

  • @444lee that is so funny!!!! lol

  • What kind of break pads did u put?

  • i can be the e-brake

  • it's most likely the rear rotors had a similar problem on my RS200

  • did u js make dis vid for fun or do u actually wanna know what's rong?

  • it may also be a bigger problem have the dealer take a full look at the rear end of the car,

  • well i own a collision shop its a common thing in this lexus it's for sure the rear brake rotors they don't last very long and when they go they make this afull noise

    i hope i was helpful.

  • those are definitely the rear brakes. my mom's car does that, the rotors might need replacement, or they could have been glazed by being coated with water.

did you drive into any significant sized pools of water?

  • When i was in California with my family, we rented a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica and while backing up, it made the same exact noise. I don't know what it could be, it might be the rotors though. We never inquired lol

  • I have a camry and it does this too

  • Sounds like it was missing the anti - squeel clip, not sure what its called but stops the vibrations and these sounds from happening.

  • blazerlover25 is right, I think the same thing. :-)

  • sound like a train stopping but blazerlover 25 i think is right

  • how could it be seized when he drives it regularly?

  • well kyle it only sounds like one thing and one thing only to me it appears on the drivers side the caliper is sticking and rubbing against the brake rotor therefore causing the squeal you might just have a seized caliper that can be solved by lubricating it or replacing it but its comming the most from the drivers rear id say im close to the problem cuz a bearing would making a grinding noise good luck

  • I agree with Hawkskill818's comment. My friend also had this problem and it had to do with the bearings.

  • its a seal...lol

  • idiots...ikf it only does it while the brakes are being used its something to do with the brakes!!! rotors most likely...id put my money on that

  • im saying seized caliper on the drivers rear causing it to rub against the rotor

  • maybe it is a bearing. my moms subaru makes a grinding noise when you first start out because of moisture and sediment getting in the rims etc. but it goes away. this sounds more like a bearing problem. maybe you should have them check the joints and the bearings on all wheels.....

  • my lexus does this too!!! wtf

  • its a toyota what to u except really not really a toypta but its an off branch brand.

i dont know much about expensive cars sorry kyle.

  • They sound like the brakes on my bike. lol. Im not really sure what would cause that noise. You said they are new, there might be something on the discs or pads I would go fast and then slam on the brakes to wear them wown a bit and see if its helps. I dont know much about brakes though. lol

  • You should get one of those point and shoot laser thermometers and measure the temps of each of your rotors.

  • May need to cut your rotors i dont see y thoe the car is pretty new

  • i dont have an answer but ON A LEXUS

    ?!!!!!!!!!

  • it sounds like the brakes are wet of maybe you need the disk cut?

  • my mom has an 09 rx 350 and wen it cold and frosty the brakes are like high piched grinding for like 10 seconds. keep braking a few times and maybe it will go away?

  • Ive heard those cars sound like that before when I worked at the dealership. Usually they did a brake job on it but it kinda sounds like your rotors could use something too! But i wouldnt recommend trying to DIY it if you can help it. These cars can be kinda a hassle in some areas. But good luck seeing if it can be fixed. im sure it can, and if not, can someone say Challenger!? LMAO!!

  • I think the brakes are wet. Go to the dealer and see what they have to say.

  • do you know if the noise is concentrated like in the rear or one side of the car?

im asuming its the back since u changed the pads in the back...hmm...

my next thought is the discs.

sorry if im not much help saabkyle, nice interior shots btw lol

good luck im sure someone here would know. ive heard squeals from brakes before but nothing like that before

that noise has to occur when the pads touch the discs, so if it aint the pads, could it be something on the disc or discs themselves?

  • i jsut read grandprixs comment, i ment rotors not discs, samething i guess
