is this good for all water temps.? (hot, warm, cold?) and the water in my area is hard, is that ok? do i need to double the mixture or something? thanks you are a cool mom =)
Oh its all good. That is what I thought. Barron’s is the financial investment newspaper. ;)
Is there another way to make this without spending so much? Making enough of this laundry soap for a 40 HE loader is about $35-$40 bucks. Is there a way to make it for about $15-20?
This laundry detergent is amazing. I've used the whole batch and just made another. It's quick to make and my clothes don't wrinkle as much when they come out of the dryer. Additionally, my hands don't dry out working with it.
@ryter229 I use Dr. Bronners and I get it at Whole Foods. I buy the gallon size, if they don't have it they will order it - non-scented. I use it for a lot of other things as well.
I like that is only takes about a minute to make, that is awesome! My question is where do you buy Castille Oil and how much does it cost? Thanks ....Susan Cravatt
I read that you shouldn't use essential oils in the mixture as it breaks down the fibers in your clothes. I keep old wash cloths near the dryer and sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil (or whatever oil you choose) on that clean washcloth, and throw it in the dryer with my clothes!
You don't need a preservative. You will use it way before bacteria would form. I've been using this at home for over a year and have never had a problem. Check out my new site Elizabeth's Kind Cafe.
Now this one is different. I make my own homemade soap so I use that to make my laundry soap. Then it's only 1 Tablespoon per load. Does the glycerin make the clothes softer? or is it just to hold onto the lavender in the mixture?

@143summer28 Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this. I use warm water, and I'm sorry but I don't know a lot about hard water.

Glycerin is toxic
buttercado 4 months ago
@buttercado glycerin is NOT toxic. It's sourced from vegetables and has been used for centuries as a natural emollient.

Target carries Castile Soap. Its in their "natural" beauty supplies.

When you say Castile oil, do you mean the liquid soap?

@MatthewCravatt Hi - yes, it's really easy and fast but CAstile Oil is a little pricey. You can get it at Whole Foods or Amazon. I like Dr. Bronner's

Hi Kate, I do that too for the dryer, but I've had no problems using the oils in the washer as well, but thanks for the tip!

Where is the perservative??? The water in the liquid will start to form bacteria very quickly without it!

@PSTRIDES
Glycerin - preservative
vinegar - preservative
lavender - antimicrobial

Peppermint Bronners is fine. I just like to use non-scented so it smells like whatever essential oil I choose.

would it matter if all you had was Dr Bronner's in peppermint?

Sorry, I don't know why, but I always say Castile Oil - I use Castile Soap - Dr. Bronner's non-scented.
